😂👍 Yeah I'd need someone to teach me how to play Malmsteen first, then like 12 years to try and get it nailed down, before I'd even be comfortable to give the kid the Harmonic Minor Scale 😂
This was a fun and interesting discussion with a great panel - I’ve followed the Old Grey Guitarist since several years before he got on AGT . . . and nice to get better acquainted with John Robson, who I follow and occasionally watch. Really liked this format and when the topics went off the rails a bit, lol. Very interesting to hear hot takes from music teachers’ perspectives. I hope you’ll do this again!

Reading the comments I get the picture that, those of us who liked the video REALLY LIKED IT, and we would like some more. However, there should have been more of us, I mean, it was both informative and fun! There are endless videos of gear reviews, but videos such as this are unique.

Not necessarily completely, someone else commented the opposite here, where they spent a lot of time learning theory and practicing scales and arpeggios etc, but also not seeing enough progress. I mean - I think it's super important to learn theory and practice scales and arpeggios and techniques etc, but if you're not using any of it, or recognising it in songs or music, then it's not really that useful. You need a healthy balance of the two (imo). 😀👍

Let's say C Major (because you know that one and there's no sharps or flats) C D E F G A B C It's always the 6th note of the Scale that is the start point for your relative minor scale, it's the exact same notes in the same order, but the start point changes to the 6th note being the first note: A B C D E F G A This has a different order of intervals and results in the formula for the minor scale sound. Bonus Tip - This also means you can call C Major the Relative MAJOR of A minor 🤓👍 Here's another example Using G Major G A B C D E F# G The 6th Note is E - So The relative Minor is the E minor Scale: E F# G A B C D E Which also means that G Major is the Relative Major of E minor. The Same rule applies to Chords - C major = Aminor. G Major = Emin. Etc.. Right here's the quick short cut way to to find the relative major - min (and vice versa) in any key in 1 second! 😀 If you're dealing with a Major Scale or chord - Let's Say C again...
