At a time when so many forces seem to be conspiring to reduce the dignity of each of us to nothing - atomizing us through the movements of what increasingly looks like an unstoppable machine - the Church comes forward with this full throated declaration that reminds us God became man and by doing so conferred to each of us an infinite dignity. As Chesterton said “We do not really want a religion that is right where we are right. What we want is a religion that is right where we are wrong.” I know I have a long way to go to see others in a way that lives up to this declaration, but God willing I will be able to inch closer toward it.
