My baby went from 40th percentile in weight and height at birth to 85th by 6 weeks. He will be 3 months old this week and has been staying on the 85th percentile growth curve. From birth I've only fed one breast at a time because he would drain it in under 10 minutes and fall asleep satisfied. I still dealt with excessive leaking and really full breasts after about 3 hours. I started pumping in the morning when my husband would give the baby a bottle and I'd get 4-6 oz per side in about 10 minutes. After about 8 weeks this routine of pumping to empty in the morning and one breast per feeding rest of the day helped a lot. I recently had to pump for a day because I was in my sister's wedding. I should've pumped one side per session but I didn't want to look uneven in my dress. That resulted in engorgement and a foremilk imbalance I'm trying to resolve now. Is it normal for one day to throw you off so much like that?
When blockfeeding what do you do to prevent getting plugged ducts or mastitis??? I want to try this but I’m so scared of getting plugged ducts. Baby only feeds on one side but then I pump the other because I get so full and so engorged on both.
It's difficult to give guidance without having more information about your situation. Starting with a short block should help. If you would like one on one guidance you can book a consult with me. I have guided many moms through this. breastfeedingconfidential.com/breastfeeding-consults/
I started block feeding today but u'm scared of getting blocked ducts or mastitis...they become very full and hard to touch if i left one of them blocked for 4 hours as the milk is too much and the baby only feed a little and can't soften it...should i pump alittle or should i stop block feeding
I don't know all th especifics of your situation but it sounds like a 4 hour block might be too long to start with. You should find a lactation consultant who can get your history and help guide you.
I have twins but still have a problem of oversupply how to fix this? I seldom switch them because I want one baby to get more foremilk but twin A have foamy poop then now I noticed greenish while Twin B poop every few days and its more clay like and brownish. I don't know how to fix this
I have an overactive letdown/over supply. If I do Block feeding will it reduce my oz when I pump because I do need to pump because he goes to school. That's the only thing I worry about with block feeding.
The reason I want to block feed is because it’s just requiring way to much energy from my body. I can’t eat anymore calories it makes me nauseous but I am producing twice or more milk than what my baby needs. I also have had mastitis 3 times within two months. It’s so stressful.
I understand. You should consider working with a lactation consultant to help you with your oversupply. If you don't have anyone you can call I do virtual consults.
Thank you so much for the video! I am currently pregnant at my second and I really suffered with my first the first 5 months because he was choking after 20 seconds and then screamed and then didn't want more. I had tried different breastfeeding positions to reduce gravity in the milk flow but didn't really work. At 5 months I started pumping out the milk and was shocked to see that the milk was flowing from around 8-10 holes from my nipples!!! Do you think that block feeding would help me with the second one? What could I do? I really feel there is nothing I can do for my problem...could I try to pump out or express milk until the heavy flow recess and then breastfeed? (For each breastfeeding session?)
I am wondering what is causing your pain. I would encourage you to meet with a lactation consultant. I do virtual consults. Check out my website breastfeedingconfidential.com
What if my baby only likes 1 breast? My left breast is “faster” (I think) and since the first days he didnt like it so he doesnt feed a lot on that side. Now my right now he loves but only nurses for a few minutes and that’s it :( I know he chocks and I see milk dripping so I know it’s a FL issue… how do I do block feeding if my baby likes only 1 breast?? Thank you (he’s 14 mo)
@@lauradermatis1372 LOL. I'm not sure block feeding would be appropriate for you if you are only feeding from one side. Unless you have a confirmed over supply I would worry it would decrease your supply. A fast flow is a different problem and a nipple shield can help with that. I have a video on how to properly apply it.
The most common causes are something in your diet or illness. If a baby is growing at a normal rate and is happy then I really don't worry much about green poops.
Hi. Thanks so much for this video. I'm currently pregnant with my 3rd child and I've experienced mastitis with my first 2 and milk just doesn't come out with an extremely high milk production. I had to have my milk dried up for it to stop. Can I start block feeding from birth?
@@BreastfeedingConfidential I appreciate your prompt feedback. You are awesome honestly. I've been to different people for breastfeeding advice and I haven't had advice like yours. I'll be sure to attempt breastfeeding with my third once more using your methods. I'll let you know if I'm successful. 😘
This was SO helpful. Thank God! I thought she had reflux but this is clearly the problem. It started as soon as my milk really came in. 😭
This was really helpful, Thankyou!

Maybe try switching which breast they get every day.

For a fast flow a nipple shield can help. Work with a lactation consultant when your baby is born to try it.

Probably it would be good to have a lactation consult since he's 14 months.

I would recommend waiting until after your milk comes in.

I'd like to become the opposite. I want to be an oversupplier.. But how?
Just drink a lot of water coconut water helps
Me a lot and pump often. But trust me oversupply comes with it’s own painful challenges
Believe me, you don’t..
No you don’t 😩😩😩
