My dad bought a new HQ Kingswood (Orange) in 1971 here in NZ. I was 13 and was so proud of it. Those were the days, it turned out the Holden factory had put the wrong springs in the rear, two people in the back and the rear was scraping on the road. It got fixed, we owned it for 10years.
These days, they show 4wd's driving over this sort of country as only they are tough enough - apparently. People these days forget that this is what was expected from a Plain Jane sedan. The old Q'ies are a rugged old bus but getting them to turn a corner is like turning a bulk carrier in a carpark. About the only thing that kills them is rust.
I actually remember this ad, even though I haven't seen it since it was originally screened. I thought that bit of the car cruising over the corrugations was pretty impressive - back then. Can't believe the ridiculous script that poor sod has to say over the top fo the vision. Nice looking car but a pig to drive, even compared to old Falcs and Valiants.
