I used this at the start of a yr12 high school graduation video, it turned out to be the funniest of the day. Thanks mate for uploading this, it's a great hit of nostalgia from before I was born.
@@jimmartin9704 I was not a fan of those instruments.the ones we saw from vb/vc/vh models and even the uc torana and hz kingswood/gts range a few years earlier were better.I recall with my dad and brother sitting in 1990 in a 82 or 83 VH series Commodore Taxi and it was better.
I would've bought the V8 powered car because while electronic fuel injection & the Wade 933 spec'd camshaft really woke the engine up whatever Holden did to the 202 engine didn't make them very good from brand new, the metallurgy made the black engine block softer for some reason. I had to do a cylinder head gasket change on one of them which was in a fuel injected 1984 model VK Commodore Berlina for a mate of my cousins after a few blockheads (at Karuah) did it for a couple of cases of Jack Daniels. Apparently he bought it off an old bloke who got it regularly.serviced it including having a brand new set of fuel injectors fitted, the car had done 200,000 kilometres in 2004,he asked my why would it be blowing smoke. I pulled the cylinder heads off & the cylinders were all out of round, there was also a chunk of gasket which hadn't been scraped of the cylinder block deck between cylinders 5 & 6 but I just fitted the cylinder head gasket that he gave me after thoroughly cleaning the cylinder head gasket mating surfaces,I also changed the oil after finding.1 litre of mud in the oil pan. I reassembled it & told him that the engine is on its way out,it still went pretty good but I think it blew up on him eventually. I would go for a blue bottom end if that is the case for the black engine having a softer engine block because my late grandfather was an old bloke who got his 173 cubic inch 6 cylinder powered 1983 model Holden VH Commodore serviced regularly, it is now sitting in my dads garage with over 329,000 on the odometer & the engine has next to no carbon buildup underneath the valve rocker cover,it basically just needs a reseal as the rear main oil seal leaks very badly. I would go for at least the red bottom end but it lacks the counterweighted crankshaft & XU1 connecting rods,I would certainly throw in the Wade 933 controlled camshaft that's used in the HQ Holden race engines to lift the power up to at least 130 horsepower from. 88.5 HP (red 202 motor) or 95.2 HP (Blue 202 motor) using the 12 port blue/black cylinder head. I did push for a VL Commodore which ran the Nissan RB30E engine which was an improvement over them, the EFI 202 seemed to have more go than an automatic VL Commodore but that changes when the VL has a 5 Speed manual transmission fitted. The VL Commodore was more practical for better fuel economy & the fact that leaded fuel was phased out in the late 1990's when I started driving, when I built the twin cam Nissan RB30DE engine the 202 engine was no comparison to that engine !

Peugots are ugly as sin
Was this 85? What does SL stand for?
So Lacklustre
@@rogermouton2273 lol maybe with a 6
"... And an optional electronic fuel-injected engine"... Uhhh, optional? I'll take one with an engine thanks!
Base motor still had a carby on it, which was actually the better motor.
@@ayrproductions No, 3.3 efi was the better unit. They extensively reworked the Black motor.
