    Man, that is the most wonderfully overgrown landscape I think I've seen in ages. I'm envious!

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cheers dude, that means a lot. It was something I really tried to focus on as many of the dioramas I have seen haven't managed to get that really overgrown feeling. Mines not perfect by any means but I was pretty happy with the result and learned loads in the process.

    Repositioning the Biker Scout's head was a great move since it looks like he's actually turning the speeder anyway.
    And as others have said, explosion is amazing! 11/10

    Nice way to build conifers. One thing a lot of people miss is the marks on the trunk below the branches where older branches were broken off. They make noticeable marks. Your way of applying the needles is something I'm going to have to try. Now all I have to do is find a good way to do deciduous trees.

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha I would love to make a realistic willow tree - but haven't found a way that I am happy with yet. The search continues... thanks for watching

    • @sabrekai8706
      @sabrekai8706 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@creativecuts7803 I made a twisted wire tree about 35 feet tall in 1/35 scale. It looks fine but then most dead trees have most of the branches broken off or just stubs. Very few stay in place after a few years. Now a live one is a whole other story. So far I'm working on a twisted trunk and the major branches, as with the dead one. I'm soldering on smaller twisted branches to fill it out and then will coat it with latex for bulk. Not sure how I'm going on from there. Get the skeleton done first, worry about the leaves later.

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sabrekai8706 nice dude, I never tried a wire tree. I always end up using actual wood from the forest. I'm always on the look out for some narly piece of wood. I would love to see it when it's done. Best of luck with your build

    • @sabrekai8706
      @sabrekai8706 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@creativecuts7803 First time I went to college, I was in Forestry. Spent 2 years in the bush looking at trees. I've always found the kit trees and most home built ones to be too bulky/clunky. Now is the best time to get out with your camera and start snapping pics of various trees. They are very slim, and have endless branches off of branches. Difficult to duplicate for a scale like appearance. The other thing about kit built ones is that they are tiny. A 50 footer in 35th scale is a tad under 18 inches tall. I don't go to that extreme but my wire tries are in the 8-10 inch range and I'm looking at a dry weed I snagged a couple days ago that will end up at 12 plus.

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sabrekai8706 haha I completely share your frustration. I don't bother with kit trees because in my opinion, they are not even close. I have seen some great wire examples. If your interested check out the tree I made for my floating island build. It ended up being huge. Leaves could do with a little work but on the whole I'm pretty happy.

    coconut fibre . I have been using for years . you can use it in stead of your first layer of foliage where you used the hog bristle brush . Cheap as chips

    Nice try on the optic fibers in the explosion, but it doesn't look that great on video, is it better in real life ? Perhaps you could try to color them first, because the idea of having red hot debris flying around made this way is very interesting. I am also looking for a way to do a similar effect. Rest of the diorama is simply mindblowing. Those trees are absolutely epic

      @@creativecuts7803 Yh, I agree. The idea itself is genius. I was planning on making painted ones made of cotton around wire or "something" ,but now I think I will work on your method using clear acrylic sticks as base. Thanks a lot for sharing.

    When you say you preserved some moss, did you treat it with something?

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You can preserve almost any plant by soaking it in a mix of warm water and glycerin. This will almost plasticise the plants. They may loose some of their green colour and turn yellowish but you can also dye them back to green or give them a light paint with acrylic paint. Hope that helps a little and as always, I'm happy to help where I can. 👍👍

      Thank very much. Really appreciate the kind words. Great that you are getting into the hobby. Pretty new to it all myself, although I have been building 40k terrain on and off for years. This diorama took about 3 weeks but I also work a job in between building so actual build time maybe 10 days. Let me know if you would find a video on "getting into dioramas" useful?

      I used blender for my intro and use davinci resolve for all my editing. It blew my mind that both programs are free and for the most part run amazingly. Use whatever works for you and you will find a rhythm to your work flow. I'm finding with each video the process gets a little easier but the first few videos were painfully slow to make haha
