Wish I'd known about this 8-9 months ago, already have the AT2020 condenser, and I also bought the AT2035 before learning about this. I love AT mics for my vocals, they just seem to suit😎
Excellent review! Extremely practical (with some good humor thrown in). Thanks for hitting the features right up front. No wasted run-up time. Plus, that auto gain feature is insane! This mic is totally worth the extra money.
Love to see you do this with the Deity VO-7U USB microphone...! It's a solid mic with some great features and would love to see you put it through its paces.
Just picked up the ATR2500x-USB because it's on such a good sale currently, but wow this new AT2020 USB-XP sounds amazing! The new features on this makes it sound like the perfect streaming microphone which is why I picked up the 2500x-USB, for the live monitoring. This new mic sounds sweet. Thanks for the video dude.
WOAH! I'm actually kinda blown away by that! Back when I was streaming I bought an Elgato Wave 3 USB mic and while I wish I had known more about XLR and the things I do now as a Live Sound Tech, it's been... Serviceable, not the best by any means, but also not the worst. This mic damn near sounds like an XLR mic, blows mine away for sure! It's definitely got some of the standard issues of USBs, but wow is this a step in the right direction. While XLRs are still the end-all-be-all, this might help some newbies just joining the vo/stream/even musicians scenes! Good on Audio Technica, hopefully this trend continues and ends up helping XLRs too in some form or fashion
You might like the Zoom M3 at the exact same pricepoint. It has 32 bit float so you won't clip. The audio also is also imo much more flattering compared to this mic and its a built-in recorder at the same time.
You could make a top of the best microphones for content creation (usb and xlr), either for youtube, a podcast or social networks. Greetings from Lima - Peru
Help! 😲 Hi. I am from Chile and Just starting in voiceover. I wanted to get a good mic and got the AT2020usbX after this review. (I thought that maybe the X without the P was enough... also saw manty other reviews.) . But my voice sounds strange, and with the pop filter it sounds wors. Did I make a wrong choice and should have gine for the blue yeti x that comes with a software where you can regulate your voice? 😮
I've been using the ATH-50MxSTS headset just for Zoom meetings and obviously it's great compared to, say, Bluetooth headset mics. In combination with my iPhone as Continuity Camera, the A/V experience for the other person is really a step up. So the AT2020-XP is likely on my shortlist as a "desktop" version that doesn't require me to look like a broadcaster, thanks to your review! Having said that ... may I ask what mic you're using at the start that sounds incredible but is still off-camera?
Hi its me again. Hope your doing great. I realy need to return my at2020usb x. The voice sounds crispy and sizziling. And I dont know to much about post editing. And need ot to be a smoother voice. That is Why I thought of the blue yeti x that comes with la g hub software to regulate my voice but im not sure. It has diferente reviews. Can you please suggest alternatives of usb mics for me and also a alternatives of a a mic XLR with the inrefaze box, sometimes even if its not such a good mic, with an interfase it can work well? I dont have a big bidjet but I need simething to start.. Thank you
6:44 You meant to say _"clip",_ *not* _"peak"._ These are *two different things.* A signal is *always peaking somewhere.* If peaks occur within the dynamic range of the mic's circuitry then the output is clean. If peaks exceed the circuit's dynamic range then they clip (i.e. they get cut off), causing distortion.
hi first i really thank you or this video it really helps a lot with your honest review and i would really recommend you to use some affiliate links in your description it will help you a lot.
If I connect this to my macbook M1, will it be recognized as an "audio interface" too? The reason im askin is I want to use logic pro or garageband with out bringing another piece of hardware aka audio interface.
Hi awesome review, you deserve more subs! Can you recommend a windscreen that you think is high quality but not outrages in price? Maybe like $50 or less? Thanks again, you lead me to picking this mic up after watching your comparison vid
I was looking for some good options, watched your FDuce review after hearing some good reviews and also audio tecnica. Thanks to your video I learned that the FDuce might not be the best option but I am wondering if I am going to miss much if I buy the AT2020USB-XP if I only need it for discord/gaming/recording some videos and maybe also recording some sounds for game development? I hear a lot better to go for a XLR but maybe this is a good option for me
I honestly think you will be good to go with the AT2020USB-XP or FDUCE,, it will check all the boxes for your use case! Room to grow as well. tons of mic these days give good enough if not great quality for value. and if you are recording sounds for game development... sound treating your environment would help better than the mic.
@@AraneaRegnum That is just as good. both the mic and interface are tried and true. We are in a bit of a golden age, where so much great hardware for value. it all comes down to preference! Would love to hear how you treat the room! awesome budget ways to do it!
Hey you made a great review and i'm almost certain that i'm gonna buy this mic but i wonder if the soundquality of the rode podmic usb is similar to the AT2020USB-XP. Do you think the additional XLR output on the Rode + soundquality is worth the price gap? Greetings from germany. :)
To be quite honest, I was not impressed with the noise reduction. I would much rather keep it clean and do my own noise reduction, even realtime, but I am also an audio engineer, not a gamer who doesn't care too much about a complex noise removal process. So, this may be helpful for gamers who just don't want to deal with noise. However, I feel like discord's krisp or OBS's RNNoise would do better for noise reduction when it comes to gamers (although I would use something different myself)
Sorry, total noob here that doesn't know anything related to audio engineering. I don't know if I should get the AT2020 USB-XP or just the XLR version + M-Audio M-Track SOLO/DUO. Plan to use it for chatting, gaming and recording voice for videos. Dont know if you can actually also use this mics to record sounds for game development but I am willing to try, anyway this is secondary thing I am curious about. I am willing to learn about how audio works but I don't know how complex it could get, thanks in advance.
@@eligio5790 get the XLR AT2020 with an interface. It will have better noise performance (lower self noise), and also end up saving you some cash. I own an AT2020USB and an XLR AT2020, and the XLR version sounds a lot better and has less noise. If you need help processing it after you purchase it, I would be more than willing to help out, as I am quite familiar with processing the AT2020
@@BlueberryWolf Thanks for replying to me, I needed some serious advice from someone experience, what audio interface do you recommend for paring it up with the XLR AT2020? I was looking at some of them and I heard M-Audio M-Track is fine enough but maybe I need to expend a little bit extra and pick a Scarlett Solo, any other recommendations?
@@eligio5790 The M-Track solo is a great choice. I'm currently driving an SM7B with only an M-Audio AIR 192|4 and no external pre-amp. Different interface, but it shows that even M-Audio's budget interfaces can drive the most expensive microphones just fine.
@@BlueberryWolf What about the cable? I saw a bundle with a pro snake TPM 6, is it good enough? Any other recommendation? as far as I know every component is important, just like in pc building, want to make sure nothing is doing "bottleneck"
@@creatorsvillage Have you ever try to change the default cable on a USB mic to replace it with a better quality one? For example Audioquest makes usb b to usb a cables (I live in Thailand and when it's very hot I can't even record during the day, I have horrible distortion)

Awesome, good luck!
How is it???????
can i connect it to mobile Android?

Yes, you don't need a separate interface with a USB mic in MacOS. I use a different USB mic in Garage Band and it's recognized instantly.
Can you share a name or link for that mic boom? Thanks.
That’s the Elgato boom arm. The regular one, not the low profile.
@@creatorsvillage Thank you. I have a Warm Audio boom which is great, but I’m always in search of better.
They do not seem to be available in Germany yet. I guess noise reduction can be interesting for most of us. Kenn to see more videos about it.
