It gives us valued viewers a little taste of lots of different airframes, and it highlights the skill of the pilots!! I can't imagine the time it must take to learn how to efficiently operate ONE aircraft, let alone multiple across different generations of technology. Well fought as always Grim Reapers!! Highlight for me was Super Cap with the flawless P-51 belly landing!!

While I do miss the simplicity of the older flight combat games like the F-22 series, the Comanche series, and F-16 multirole fighter, and 6 button flight sticks, it is a treat to watch the Grim Reapers pilot these aircraft like professionals and remember what each button and switch does.
DCS should look at MS flightsim to see how to do tutorials. I try to play DCS every day, but a lot of tutorials are too vague. Even when doing everything you think it tells you to do, you end up failing to even launch the weapon. And it is different for every plane... it is insane really. I paid so much. The game cost me 10 euros per hour played for now. Oh well. I still love trying to learn it.
Damn Kortana is super knowledgeable! One thing though, a tank unit on the move would use the Strela-10M instead of infantry based manpads as standard, since it was Soviet and Russian doctrine not to have dismounted soldiers support armored movement, especially against a CAS mission

I think it would be fun to make this scenario PvP. Both sides would have an objective, both sides would have a certain amount of tanks, SAMs, aircrafts to achieve that objective. It would be kinda like Battlefield or War thunder, except it's air-focused.
Hey Cap and Kortana, can you guys pls try the 2nd and 4th gen scenario again but this time you guys get a mixture of attack helo's and jets, you guys could could use the Jets for SEAD and taking out the Tughuska's and BUK then use a mixture of jets and attack helos to attack the tank division, the helo's could hover madking themselves with the trees above or next to the line of allied tanks and destroy them as theyre coming onto you guys?,? Just a thought, plus isnt the F4 able to carry HARMS? i thought they were used in Vietnam to wild weasel the SA2?
The way you would do this without losses in the gen 3 airfames: drain the Buks by wild weaseling and drop a shit ton of rockets from 15,000 ft to kill what you need to. The rockets are to be sprayed to make a pattern on the ground, not fired individually. Don't load too many pods or you'll be bogged down by drag. Viable options from best to worst are S-13 (Su-25A, 4 pods), Zuni (A-4), Hydra Mk5 HEAT (F-5, 2 pods of 19, maximum ripple delay), and S-5 (MiG-21, 2 pods of 32). You won't get a lot of kills but at least you won't die.
Try using the compass to dive bomb in a war bird. 20 degree dive when the nose past the target release your bomb it will take some practice. But it will get you in the ball park .
Perhaps you should try that last bit again, but use those forth gen tools like forth gen tools and lead with stand-off weapons instead of your faces maybe? ;-)
Could you set this up as an AI thing. Like WW2 tactics vs 80’s. So have numbers for war birds, like 100 of them, vs the tank battalion and anti air. Warbirds would swarm but carry more munitions than small drones…
It’s possible that the lesson to take from this is that using air power against armored / mechanized forces can be effective, but is also very costly. I’d guess reality reflects this at least somewhat and might be why the US Army has been putting significant resources recently into modernizing its artillery systems. If this scenario is a reasonable view of the costs of using air power, it becomes clear that in near peer conflict we need to be able to take out as many targets as possible with less expensive artillery type systems.
Cap have You ever tested the effectiveness of the DIRCM in the SU25T against IR missiles i would like to see if there's even a point to turn that system on
Cap, just curious as to why you would fly a P-51 instead of a P-47 on a strictly ground attack mission? You usually do; but I’ve seen you fly the p-47 occasionally
Well the 47 is better for ground attack BUT I've forgotten how to keep the engine alive in the 47, so until I remind myself how to manage the engine, I just stick with 51 for simplicity.
Buk can be dangerous if not handled correctly but 16 missiles is not a lot. Potential reload trucks are the most relevant unit to destroy. Still, it's not a huge concern with so many beautiful bodies in the air. Going against Tunguskas with primitive short range weapons is utter folly.
you're going against a "4th gen" adversary, i suspect if you guys tried this with 5th gen strike aircraft, you'd realize a hefty savings, since an f-35 is designed to fight and win in this mission
Yes... Gen 3 killed 9 time as many... but for the same amount of money you could field your air force could field MORE than 10 times as many aircraft. I'm betting that it'd even be BETTER for WW 2 planes if you could field that many at once (maybe on a fun fly day?) because then the SAM/AAA would be OVERLOADED with targets all at once and relatively less effective (or you could even have enough to be doing SEAD/DEAD AND the main strike on tanks at the same time not one then the other, meaning more tanks get killed over a longer period) This reminds me of I think a video you guys did with B-17s vs stealth bombers? Where it pitted a sky full of B-17s vs a single or a couple stealth a/c. Could be a fun exercise if you could field that many human pilots, because we've already seen that the AI have certain issues they introduce en masse in scenarios like this.

You should use A6e loaded with harms and A7, with Ea6b loaded with Harms. You could load several A6 with laser guided bombs.
A6 is not currently modeled in game.
F-111 would have been good to see against those tanks, with Ef-111 support

take out the sams with f22 and harms then send an AC130 for the tanks. Does this simuiator have AC130s? If so they should use them way more often.
Does an AC130 have anything that would actually harm a tank? The 105mm gun typically uses explosive anti personnel shells doesn't it?

One of my favorite scenarios. One suggestion is to provide the time for each generation. Lasting longer would allow reinforcement to arrive.
IN a warplane.. if you put about 5 degrees on your rudder , it will make up for the engine torque on takeoff...
