Yesss....this is a good example of a trim! Please go on tour across the United States and show all beautician/salons what a true TRIM means to customers. How many of us have gone to a salon for a trim and lost inches?? Ugghh!
A C I just went yesterday and literally lost half of my hair length. Plus it is now an uneven mess. I will never ever let anybody else cut my hair.
They like to cut off all that much hair because they're jealous and want you to be bald headed like them

I haven’t trimmed my hair in more than a year and my ends have been looking sooooo TRASH! So I watched this tutorial, bought hair shears and I went to work! My hair turned out pretty well! It has this really cute shape that I didn’t even know I was making lmaoo! I am lucky it turned out so cute! I had to cut like 1.5 inches off though because the split ends were no joke. Imma thinking of this as a fresh start and I’m imma start taking better care of my hair now.

I can't tell based on the texture i usually just go based on where my hair starts to thin in comparison to the hair thats more full when i go down the length of my hair.

I went to cosmetology school way back but you have trained me on how to train natural hair so thank you I do this for my daughter at the end of every summer. I do angle my fingers so that her bottom layers are a good bit longer than the top ones it makes her twists easer to do and for them to stay even without rubber bands it also adds a cute shape to her wash and go ( which I hardly ever do BC she is an active 7 yr old)

Your hair looks so healthy and vibrant! I’m so jealous! I’ve always had fine hair, but at my age (42) and having chronic anemia throughout my teenage and adult life, acquiring a healthy, full head of hair has always been a struggle for me. I stopped relaxing my hair in December 2006 hoping that this would help improve the health of my hair. However, it seemed that regardless of all my efforts to “care” for my hair, my hair remained thin, lifeless, continually breaking off, having a shocking amount of hair coming out from the roots with every comb-through, and remained completely unmanageable. My hair couldn't/can’t even hold a curl.
There were times when I simply stopped caring about my hair because it was so frustrating and depressing; I just covered it up with a scarf. I wasted a lot of money trying to “fix” my hair issues.
But, I am not one to give up. I believe there is a chance for me and my hair. I’m still working on trying to improve the health of my hair with help from informative sites like yours. I don’t have the money to get professional hair care, so I must do it myself.
We all know that hair trimming is important for healthy hair, and that cutting/trimming your own hair can be extremely stressful and scary! Which is why I am so thankful that you have provided this video. It is a big help. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this demo. I followed your tips and trimmed my hair yesterday. Today my hair looks so good, I'm shocked. I usually get a salon cut at Deva Chan about once every eight months, but after another vlogger pointed out that a cut is to shape your style but not really going in and getting all the ends I realized I really needed to address that issue. I trimmed while damp with leave-in conditioner, which was a little messy, but it was very easy with your instructions. Next time, in about two months, I'll try trimming before I apply the leave-in for less mess. :-)

Hairstylist tip: Use a piece of the first cut section as a guide so you don't have to guess or keep in mind how much you need to cut as you continue because you can see it. Just make sure the section isn't too thick or you may accidentally cut into your guide.

Need this for so long I hated wash day because of the tangled only to realize it's because of my damaged ends that we're causing me to basically tear out my hair no matter how much slippage the conditioner gave me. But now I'm concerned about what's actual damage and what's my natural texture 😩😩

This is such perfect timing! I almost trimmed my ends yesterday but the length threw me off because I wanted to frame my face with layers. I usually just trim before washing. But your process makes more sense lol.

It's like you heard my prayers girl. I've been natural for almost two years and never trimmed but I'm terrified of heat. Especially since I have low density type 4c hair (y'all think thick hair is a struggle, imagine hair that never looks full even in a fro smh) anyway I need help on shaping and all but I'll do this to at least get my hair back on track

Do you do a lot of wash 'n go's? This can cause ssk and split ends. It depends on your hair Tbh. I can do wash n gos every now and again but ik I'll get hella ssk if I do
No I don’t but anytime I wear my hair out for a few days like a twist out it gets extremely tangled.

I make a balm with 1 tbsp each shea butter, beeswax and castor oil(whatever oil you want really) and i always put it on the last 2 inches of my hair everytime I wash right after sealing with my hair oil and also when i retwist. It has helped with how much the very ends of my hair tangle. it might help you too

Unicornacid word, finished taking my braids out today, so need a proper trim, probably need to remove the rest of my bleached hair, cause it's really messing with my ends, making me need to trim ever so often. That bleach too a toll on my ends to I ain't retaining anything cause I gotta cut it out everytime

Hey Yalll….so yea let me tell you the way I was panickingggggg. So basically I took an hour trying to figure out exactly what to do and because I had to get braided I ended up only doing one half of my head 😭. My hair is pretty short and shrinks well so you can’t tell even though there’s a SIGNIFICANT size difference but yea.

I was wondering if its healthier to detangle the hair when it's wet to avoid breakage...(that's what I do) I felt a little nervous seeing you detangle your beautiful hair dry even though I know you had said your hair was previously detangled. ❤

I totally agree with you Sarah I almost never touch my hair with a comb/brush when it's dry but it seems to be working for her.
I have type 4b hair. I'm no Professional but in my experience when I detangle my soaking wet hair it SNAPS. When I detangle my dry hair it CRUNCHES. But it I add a little detangling spray (Cantu's coconut detangling spray for kids) my hair is slightly damp and has no scary sound effect when I detangle. It works for me
Lauren Evans yes me too hair is weaker when wet that’s why it snaps and can’t detangle too dry I detangle with a leave in and an oil on damp hair it’s honestly the best way
