    Thank you. This is a good informative review. I am planning to travel to HHV in January 2024. This will be my fifth visit. Thank you. No comment about the Gand Islander hotel?

    Staying here for 4 nights in May. Thank you for the video and honest review! The hustle and bustle doesn't bother me too much. Staying in a deluxe king ocean view in the Rainbow Tower. Cant wait!

      Hope you have a great time. It’s really quite impressive
      If you are interested in getting away from the resort we did a complete travel guide to Oahu. Here is the link.

    The trick for parking at the Hale Koa garage is to buy a monthly pass for 210.

      That’s a great tip! 🙌

      You can also park at the discovery bay building (on ala moana, the building where the McDonald's is) and park for around 15.00 a day.

    The Hale Koa Hotel is a MILITARY hotel, so you really need to READ the rates...$79 a day is because you are not military. They do this on purpose so their parking is reserved for service members, as it should be, it's for military, not for tourists.

      Yes we realized that after parking there, but there wasent really any signs informing you as you enter. A cheaper place to park would have been the hotel for sure! We only used it for 1 day & returned our rental car but surely paid the price.

      Thanks for watching 🙏 congratulations, have a wonderful time in May. Should be a good time to go because the kids are still in school might be less crowded for you.

      It depends on what you like. If you like the off-the-beaten path places, look for an air bnb away from Waikiki - popular places are the North Shore, Waialua (ideal), Kaneohe, Kailua, Hawaii Kai and maybe even Waimanalo, Kahaluu or Kahuku (way out there!) but you will need a car. Ko'olina is also nice away from the main hub but not cheap. Most of those places (except for Ko'olina) will not have those ridiculous parking fees, resort fees or tourist trap restaurants but be aware that you will also not have the convenience of walking distance restaurants and white sand beaches. Traffic on Oahu is horrible, so do your research if you're looking for day trips! Waialua is the choice place for air BnB but my friend got his car stolen right off the side streets, and he lived there! Congratulations on your honeymoon and hope you enjoy Oahu!
      PS. places to avoid on Oahu for rentals: Waianae, Nanakuli, Maili, Kalihi, Kapalama, and anything downtown (Vineyard, Chinatown, Bishop Street, Dillingham), airport, Waipahu.

    Great video. Please tell me this. I have knee issues and going up and down stairs is a problem with me. Does this resort have facilities in place (elevators, ramps, golf carts etc) to help me get everywhere I might want to go? (ie: from room to restaurants, beach, pool etc..) Thanks so much, Steve S.

      Hi Steven
      There are elevators & you shouldn’t have any issues with the stairs

    5:51 I certainly hope the renovation doesn't include making the rooms smaller. It looks pretty spacious now.

      Our room was a suite- it was almost too big. This is a huge resort, I would be interested to see what they do for the renovations

    Thank you for the detailed review! How should I decide between Grand Waikikian and Grand Islander? They both have 2 bedroom with partial ocean view. GW has larger room but GI is a newer building

    Great video, thanks for all of the info! Is that parking price for guests as well? We must have a car, are there any other good options? Honeymoon in November, we are so excited and really like this hotel and it's location. Since it's November hopefully there aren't too many kids running around

      Parking is just so expensive in Hawaii. I don’t know if you could just look at renting a car for just the days you absolutely need it like Turo
      That’s what we said we would do next time.

      We have also stayed at Ko Olina area of Oahu it’s more quiet & away from the hustle & bustle of Waikiki area. It was the Marriott. We also stayed at the holiday inn express- ok definitely not resort but it had a decent location rooms were in the low $200’s. Oahu is not our favorite island but it’s good for families & people experiencing the islands for the first time. Pearl Harbor, Punchbowl, Waikiki beach etc.
      Thank you for watching we really appreciate the support 🙏

      @@scottsdaletravelchick I live on Oahu - born and raised. My favorite is the Big Island, but the food there SUCKS - you cannot beat Oahu's food out of all of the islands, plus Oahu's beaches have soft white sand - forget trying to swim on the Big Island - rough and sharp coral rocks with dangerous surf except for a few places. Maui's hotel prices are the most outrageous and insane, and it's been that way for years, even before the wild fires. Kauai is a cool place to visit but nothing much open after 8 PM but heavenly if you all you want to do is hike. Molokai is only good if you really love the off-the-beaten path and don't mind the locals ignoring you because you are white.
      Come to Oahu first before you head out to another island - yes, our traffic is the worst (but drive when its not crowded), do your research and make reservations first to all the nature preserves. Do take a 2 or 3 day trip to the neighbor islands but you'll always return to Oahu for the food and the sheer amount of things to do!

    I heard that this hotel has alot of families which translates into a noisy hotel. Is there a hotel made for couples but has the same amenities?

    Excellent video! Very helpful in planning our trip. You mentioned getting an upgrade to a suite. Was that based on your Hilton membership status?

    • @scottsdaletravelchick
      @scottsdaletravelchick  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, if you can get an upgrade using your status that will save some money. If you can’t do it that way, then check on what it would cost to upgrade to a suite it just gives you more space and more room.

    Are the pools heated?

    • @scottsdaletravelchick
      @scottsdaletravelchick  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      actually there were so many people in the pools that I didn't even get in the pools, sorry they might have those details on line.

  • @Laura-nt7vc

    How were you upgraded to a suite? Any advice?

    • @scottsdaletravelchick
      @scottsdaletravelchick  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We used our status as a Diamond member you can also pay for the upgrade
      I think you just have to think about how much time you’re spending in your room versus really enjoying the island
