They have started on that with the Nintendo Switch eShop, sorta... I can comfirm that because I personally visit it often to check and see what's new. If you aren't running any applications or games that are suspended, it won't cause as much lag. The old and dated hardware doesn't make it very easy to navigate the eShop, however.
@@ashfallen1 Someone above gave a more likely suggestion. Applications with lots of content don't need to handke all at once, unless it's terribly programmed. The Switch simply dedicates little resources when another game is running.
Well, given how censorious Visa has been getting with certain Japanese businesses Nintendo might be covering their bases in case Japan does this as a whole to stand up for free speech.
@redi.c.e.6046Basically, Japan issued an announcement basically telling the UN that they're no longer welcome and to go pound sand for joining in on the bullying the credit card companies are doing on that moral control freak nonsense. Also there's a good chance that they may do what iirc Columbia did when the credit card companies rocked up on them to try the same tyrannical nonsense they're doing to Japan rn and make their own local payment processing services.

Think better advice is buy them Physically WITH Debit not credit. Japan is a mostly Cash based society, and its been a drama where like in the anime community you can't buy a lot of goods with foreign CC. Chibi Reviews did some videos on it which is where I heard it, but I assume that issue is spreading out to pretty much Japanese goods as a whole. When I went to JP a few years back, I bought everything on Debit or pulled cash from an ATM which was converted to YEN by the machine and had no issues
I couldn’t care less about this. This has no impact on me whatsoever. I never bought games from other regions other than mind. I was hoping for a smooth experience on the eshop without any lag. It’s sad when a platforms store front can’t even run smoothly. Guess we’re gonna have to wait for the Switch 2 for that to happen.
Another reason why Nintendo is charging the E-Shop before Nintendo switch 2's release is because of Nintendo is canceling Visa (credit card company). If Nintendo switch 2 is region locked, then I might buy Nintendo Switch 2 directly from Japan (or any other independent retail stores like PlayAsia, Book-Off, and Press-Play for a example). God, I hope people/creators in Japan decides to start making their own credit card stuff in the future.
Well, given how censorious Visa has been getting with certain Japanese businesses Nintendo might be covering their bases in case Japan does this as a whole to stand up for free speech.
Are they abandoning Visa altogether? My bank cards are Visa, so this would mean I'd have to figure out a way to get a Mastercard. Maybe find a college kid that is getting flooded with credit card ads 😆
@@logicalfundy My guess is if they do this (Visa has a LOT of pull) it would be limited to credit cards issued by Japanese banks no matter what kind it is.
US Credit cards didn't work on the Japanese Switch Eshop in the first place, I think EU ones did though. However, they did work on the 3DS shop for some reason. The reason is because EU folks were probably buying JP games as they are cheaper. However, the Japanese Eshop cards still work and Play Asia is shilling them like it's going out of style, I hope they get more business because I can actually get the codes in a timely manner there, despite the premium you have to pay.

I've had this question for sometime now, I've purchased a lot of imported games physically, Japanese and European. Will the Switch 2 be region locked? If so then I guess that would be a bit of a bummer...
Question: I have a physical copy of Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, and it’s from Europe. Will that be affected? Or is just meaning people with having a Nintendo account with one in North America or the other in Japan?
But my question is how hard is it to use a Japanese account for something like PayPal or some other app/website that you can load money into? Depending on that it could just be a minor inconvenience.
Is the region locked feature physical or digital, or both? If its physically region locked, thats a big problem. Unless you buy the Japanese Switch 2 from something like PlayAsia or Amazon JP. I might have to buy 2 S2s. One from each region.
If you'll look at the one asterisk footnote in the announcement screen, it says that it's only the eShop and MyNintendo in Japan. Buying physical should technically be unaffected by this.
However, there is a chance that other physical non-subsidiaries in Japan may follow suit because this is all happening because the payment processing companies are trying bully Japan into bending the knee to their moral control freak tyranny.
Imma be honest this is going to be an issue and not the one that you're thinking because what's going to stop Japanese people from selling prepaid credit cards to America so that way they can buy region free games
Okay, so can I still get free stuff off the Japanese eshop? Because I've used that to play the JP version of the NES NSO collection so I could play the JP version of Super Mario Bros. 3, and get certain JP exclusive free Sonic demos. I have no plans to ever buy anything that costs money there, but if free stuff is negatively impacted then I'd be disappointed.
Fhos sucks for Taiwan because Taiwan doesn't have a region and instead everyone always used the Japan Region. Sooo... Means tons of Taiwanese will not be able to buy games online anymore. That really sucks. Especially because Taiwan doesn't have their own region....
So the system isn't region free anymore? Why they promise that and then just take that away. I know the majority of gamers don't care about having japanese games on their console. But sorry I'm not one of those gamers. Dragon quest 10 both online and offline and yokai watch 4 are exclusive to Japan. Among plenty of other games.
