Personally have three doxa and love them , think they have personality in spades . I’ve paid essentially retail and they provide me with huge enjoyment and have no regrets whatsoever as I have never come close to enjoying any other watches at a comparable price points that I have owned in the past . For me after many years of watch collecting it’s great to have watches with horological cache , or big hitting prestige etc and I’m thankfully to own such pieces however the most important thing is how you connect with any given piece and how you enjoy it on wrist therefore for me they are absolutely worth every penny . But how we view watches and see worth is very subjective which is one of the great things about the hobby . .

@@TheNomadsLens presently I have two sub 200 and a 300 and think I will add the sub 300 T this week . Personally love the original design and vibrant colour palate . When I think the amount I have spent on the traditional bigger hitting brands over the years such as Rolex omega Tudor etc and my doxas are hogging so much wrist time i would say from a personal perspective I am getting value for money ..

Just bought this watch in orange, wearing it 24/7 , no regrets what so ever. Not gonna say its worth every penny but it comes damn close. No homage or alternative can give you the exact same satisfaction. Its that x factor piece in the collection that truly shines. I also feel its a better, more tooly and true to the original piece than the 300. Helium escape valve plus 120bar makes it a true dive watch. Also you're not gonna loose 400 , 500 pounds reselling this watch as not many people are selling them anyway and the ones that do , demand funny prices(2000 k+) for banged up pieces. If you look at chrono 24 right now theres only a handful limited editions/old versions for sale at insane prices.

If only divers bought dive watches, railroad workers railroad watches, pilots pilot watches, etc the watch world would be very small & boring one indeed. I was in the Army in an airborne unit & never thought of bringing my Hamilton field to Iraq or even jumping out of a plane with it. A g-shock 5600 was the tool to use; cheap, sturdy, replaceable (if you could get to a PX in Iraq they had them stocked). Still I own other watches because I like them.

The bezel action was terrible on the seiko. Glad I went with the Doxa even though it’s $600 more.

I have found it very hard to "transition" to buying watches of $2K'ish. The most I've paid is $1200 so far. Yet after lots of looking on eBay I managed about $1100 for a Formex Reef (1st version) and I really like it. The question is whether I would have still said that if I had paid $1900. If I hadn't got such a discount on this Formex I would have been tempted to buy new too, but I just can't make myself pay that much.

Good video, and you're right on the money when you say they're overpriced for what you get. FYI, I don't think you're correct in saying Doxas hold their value well. I will say the Doxa is very unique and awesome watch, I think the Doxa sub 300 ( not this sub 300T ) is the one to go for - it is cosc certified, bubble dome sapphire Crystal and it’s more vintage and true to the original, and I think would make the reviewer pull the trigger, and purchase it… I will say I find the Tudors so common and boring now ( I know it’s an incredible watch ) that the Doxa just gives something different but still excellent heritage and quality

Both have the same if not very similar movements. The Tudor you have does not have an 'in house movement' like today's models. Both have 316 steel cases, the Doxa bracelet is worth every penny. Thick solid 5 piece beads of rice that are produced in the same factory that produces incredibly high end (won't name the brand) bracelets, plus the history aspect etc probably gives Doxa good reason to charge this price. However, I also believe that all of these watches are over priced, especially when using ETA 2824 movement say, that are incredibly cheap to produce and service. There are so many micro brands using this movement, along with 316 steel, that charge less than half of the Doxa price and arguably nicer watches and just as unique. The Doxa is very much a marmite watch don't you think and I also think that is in part the reason why you don't get a discount. If you are a Doxa guy then your gonna pay up for it, because like you said, it is a very unique, 'ugly' watch that only a specific collector would consider. Joe Bloggs who has money to buy a new watch, is definitely not buying a Doxa. I keep returning to the Doxa, as I like it and also like ugly, unusual watches, like the Tudor PO1 I own, but Im not sure why I keep refraining. I have tried one on with the bracelet and it does feel real nice and quite good quality also.

Sinn EZM 3, Oris Aquis, Oris Divers Sixty-Five. Ball Engineer Master II, Longines HydroConquest. Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba (under £700 great value) If you strech it then Tudor 58. Best I for value is Seiko, Seiko Prospex SPB077J1 Marinemaster, Seiko Prospex 1965 Modern Re Interpretation SPB143J1, and Turtle. If you want bright colours Zodiac 53.

I share similar thoughts for the Doxa subs. The are attractive but every time I see the price I can't stop laughing. There is very little substance to support this price tag. I like the carbon models the most but they are even less affordable. Thanks for sharing your first hand experience.

I still use a dive watch for diving. Part nostalgia, part redundancy. I've been diving with a Breitling Shark, Rolex Submariner, Omega Planet Ocean, Glashutte Original Sport Evolution and GO SeaQ Pano. They've all been in the water and I can't see that changing. I would not have any hesitation to use a Doxa.

@Nav San Wow, such hostility! Of course I dive with a computer and a dive buddy. The watch gives me a backup to my time underwater. I’ve been doing this for 30 years and don’t need to prove it to you or anyone else!

I bought my dream watch, a brand new Rolex Submariner Date 126610LN six months ago. Unfortunately, I had an accident New Year’s Eve and had to leave it for service. It’s still there. Haven’t even got a price for fixing it. So I’m naturally disappointed. About the same time I bought my Submariner I heard about Doxa. So I checked up on it and weighed in on buying one, decided not to for the moment. Then when the accident and long service time for my Submariner became clear, I thought I needed another steel watch in the mean time. So I just bought a Doxa Sub300T Caribbean. I think it will be a great companion to my Rolex and Casio Vintage and G Shocks. In the future I need a dressy Cartier Tank.
