Why Arsenal don’t need a striker… for now

  • Arsenal beat Sheffield United 6-0 Monday night, where Mikel Arteta's side managed to have five different players on the score sheet.
Having beaten West Ham 6-0 and Burnley 5-0 in their most recent away games, the Gunners also found themselves five up at half-time. Arsenal do not have a fully fit striker at the moment, but do they actually need one?
They have scored 31 goals in their last seven games, but will it be enough to get them over the line for the Premier League title?
Ayo Akinwolere is joined by The Athletic’s David Ornstein and former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke to discuss.

@@anthonybergelin2184 Rice may well become a legend but 100 million never counts as a bargain. Just good business. I think we overpaid a bit if Rice really wanted us too btw. West Ham fans that booed him a disgrace as he could easily have pushed his way to us for 90 tops. We overpaid for Havertz too. Its not about what they end up being with its about what they could have been bought for with sharp negotiating skills. Odeegard on loan I actually commented we need to build the team round him if we can keep him as he is only potential world class player we have. Saka Saliba now in that conversation too. So 35 million for him was a steal. Arteta really wanted him for that reason and whole transfer window was him for me. When it looked like he was staying at Real I was gutted. Hopefully both get the title they yearn and deserve for their performances this season.

Rice is English he will be fucking expensive same for the likes of Ben white and grealish they’re local . Then havertz have a UCL trophy to his name he even scored in the UCL final. We paid for the experience he will bring for the likes of saka and Martinelli and co in UCL matches it’s not instant improvement but this is first time arsenal has been in UCL competition since 7 years ago .we paid for experience for havertz he’s young and there’s still room for improvement . Jorginho is going to retire soon but we bought him to be a leader he’s less expensive because of his age . So perfect negotiation so far

Also, shout out to Kiwior, a center back coming in on the left with our two best left fullbacks out iinjured, and shining bright! Trossard, also, so it's not just Havertz coming on strong. Arsenal has a striker in Gabriel Maghales, Saliba, Kivior, White, Rice, Odegaard, Havertz , Trosand Martineli Saka Jesus Nketieh. They fill up the opposition box at the same time and they all have goals in them. Huge advantage compared to relying on one strike to score.

There are many other reasons we are better this year besides the old frankly, lazy stock argument of leaders. Talent is better. Depth is better. Experience/one more year with Arteta ball/Failure of a league challenge are just a few reasons besides the old lazy argument of just saying leaders. Also Arteta is a year wiser and evolving as one of the best tacticians in the game.
Better talent either new players and the players a year older to peak age plus an evolving Arteta are the biggest reasons.
Whenever a team fails we always get that tired argument of there are no leaders when actually leaders is probably 8th in the list of reasons a team is bad. Or Good.

The Arsenal team are looking like a team and we love that they are good friends that love playing good football together, and that none of the players are acting like billionaires as we can see in some other clubs, even though the Arsenal players also are living their boyhood dream and we really wish them well. It's three incredible good teams competing for the title. And in addition to be skilled the team to win often had a bit more luck, and I hope that they will not have to many bad refeering decisions against them, and in any case will stay strong. I would be very happy for them if they could win this year, but I'm sorry that I think it's still to early for them to go the hole season both in Champions League and Premier League. It's the underlying athletic profile, technical attributes, age and personality that you look for in a signing and that Ferguson has. Basically you're getting a Harry Kane type aged 19. Ornie talks nonsense. Of course summer window 2023 wasn't more important than summer 2022. The new Arsenal started with coming of Saliba (high line, more compact length in state of attack), Zinchenko (world class line breaking and delivering to danger zones in general), Jesus (world class operator between defensive lines, immediate upgrade of chemistry between attacking 5). Last summer was logical continuation of that, but the course was already picked.
6:55 Another strange moment xD It was obvious that we were not favourites last season, despite 5 points gap. Cause you don't really expect to win on Anfield and Etihad. Basically: to become champions you must win almost every game. You don't expect team that came 5 previous season to win every game. That's why "bottling" is only what stupid can say.

You have kind of contradicted yourself…..
Question are we struggling to score goals, have we struggled for the past 2 seasons?
NO, last season was a record for Arsenal in the PL, 88 goals even more than the Invincible’s, this season will be similar.
However Partey will leave and he cannot be relied upon due to fitness, and we don’t have direct replacements for Gabi or Bukayu and you rightly point out.
We need a #6 and a serious winger that can play on both sides and beat players. These two things are way way more important than a striker.
Now I’m not saying we shouldn’t look at buying a striker, BUT only a striker that will make a difference, a world class striker or a striker with potential. Defo not Toney he is no where near good enough
But we need a #6 and winger far more than we do a striker, goals aren’t a problem, losing Gabi or Bukayu and J2O makes a big difference.

But this defense is just ridiculously good they are so compact you can't even fart without getting caught. But the transition is just like trying to catch the Flash taking a piss! ❤😂
But seriously people don't realize how hard one touch football really is and Arsenal are playing like they can't even count to two.
