I witnessed a similar incident about 15 years ago. Some guy flew by me like I was standing still, (I was doing 60), he flew past me, a car several yards ahead wasn't going fast enough for him so he shot around that car too. Then the back of the other car exploded into blue and white lights. The cop was so pissed he didn't even bother to pull over behind the guy when he stopped. The deputy just pulled over on the opposite side of the road and began yelling at the driver. I slowed down and waved at the guy in such a hurray. Not only was he going to be late, but he was going to have to pay a HUGE fine.
If that wasn't a cop, 90% of the comments would say tailgating is justified for not passing quick enough. Brakechecking someone tailgating you is worse as well.
Should pull their license. Tailgating is the cause of a lot of roadrage. Tailgating is bullying. Remember that almost anything can be weaponized. Motor vehicles have very dangerous weaponized potential, which the bully driver employs.
I was involved in a tailgating incident by a COP himself. It was decades ago on a rural California two lane in each direction highway. I was cruising along in the right, slow lane at the 55 MPH speed limit. There was no other traffic in sight. I came around a curve and there was a car doing 45 MPH in my slow lane. I signaled to move to the left lane to pass and did so. As I did the car on my right started to quicken his speed to pace my car. Suddenly, in my rear view mirror I spotted a Calif Highway Patrol car moving up fast behind me, now in the left lane. The CHP car started to tailgate me, only feet from my bumper, but with no emergency lights activated. I tried to move to me right but every time I slowed down or speed up a little, the car in the right lane did the same. I started to think that this was speed trap of some kind. I quickly assessed that if I slowed way down the cop would stop me for blocking traffic. If I speed up, a speeding ticket. If I just kept going as I was, failure to move over. I started to think I must be paranoid so I speed up quick to 60 MPH and passed the car on the right, thinking the cop was just in a hurry. The cop immediately pulled me over for going 5 MPH over the speed limit. Then the real reason for this foolishness. The cop asked to search our car. I had nothing to hide and let him. He conducted a through 10 minute search and then said we could go with a warning. This whole incident left a bad taste in my mouth regarding cops that has lasted for decades.
It's not tail-gating . . . . . . it's DRAFTING and that was a CLEAN PASS on the outside ! They didn't even trade paint - - I can't believe the Officials are reviewing the incident.
I hate when people tailgate , I got a big piece of paper that says " tailgating is rude " I show it to drivers that tailgates me when they pass me on other lanes . I wish I could get a bumper sticker that says " tailgating is rude " because it's better than brake checking drivers for tailgating .

I remember someone tailgating me on the freeway several years ago. I was heading to work real early so I was out there at 4:30 in the morning so there’s barely anyone cars around. I’m pretty much a go with the flow driver but in this case since it was so early I just stayed at the normal 65speed limit on the slow lane. At some point this driver in a mini van shifted to the slow lane going at 80+ from what I could tell from my rear view mirror. I literally was monitoring the speed because I saw them change lanes quite a ways back. Anyways they end up right behind me. There’s no nearby exits or any other cars around so I’m like wtf? If you want to go fast just stay on the other 3 mostly open left lanes. They did not move and kept tailgating. I’m like whatever and just kept under the speed limit. I even pumped the brakes a few times to scare them lol. At some point they got to an exit but I was thinking what an a$$hole. Lol.
I do 65 on the freeway sometimes 70 cruise control in the slow lane always get where I need to be on time if not early I don't understand people who Rush to get behind someone or rush just to get to a stoplight.
I'm scared to tailgate because what if the driver in front of me has to suddenly hard- brake, and I don't respond quickly enough? No matter how frustrating another driver on the road might be, it's not worth the risk of driving recklessly.
This reminds me when i was being tailgated by a van in a street near a park, it was late at night and I making my way to pick up my dad, then i see big ass fan back of me and sticking close at a 30 mph street, i tried to calm myself as we were going down the street, the they turn on the left lane and then speed towards the lane i was on (without using signals in damn dark of night). Very fortunately, there was a cop car behind the van who caught up to the van and stopped them at a gas station. Ah sigh of fucking relief now I’d wished the did that to other bastard drives who keep tailgating me on a fucking 30mph street

Once I had a driver in a white Chevy Malibu purposely cut me off at night. I laid in my horn and my brakes. Luckily a police officer was 2 cars behind us. Pulled them over and I laughed all the way home.

@@tubetonka You need to have an editing software to be able to do that. Some of them have 10-days trials. Maybe Vegas Pro has some kind of trial too. And there are tutorials on TH-cam on how to use the software. Good luck!
I’ve been driving since 1970. I can spot a cop car anywhere. I spot the unmarked ones also. I will admit that I’m a fast driver. A study was done and it runs in your DNA. I’ve traveled to every state in the US. I’ve been in Mexico and Canada. When I was younger I was taking my dad to cancer center and drove through Chicago. If you didn’t move it, you got ran over. New York and well a lot of big cities. Drive or get ran over. I have passed a cop. No pull over. I wasn’t being stupid in my driving either. If you can drive safely and move it, then do so. I do not tailgate. If I get a ticket, well then my fault. I guess you can tell what a driver I am. I’ve never had an accident or a ticket in all of these years.
If you're in a hurry because you're running late, speeding is the best way be even later. Cops don't tend to move very fast when they write out speeding tickets.
I hate when people do that to me hate it the only thing that can stop at sometimes is using your break but that don't work as much. The person in the Nissan shouldn't have been tailgating, cop or not, but the cop also should not have been driving in the left lane, in the manner in which he was (i.e., not in the process of passing slower right-hand traffic) so he was wrong as well, this coming from a police officer

I hate when people do that to me hate it the only thing that can stop at sometimes is using your break but that don't work as much. I never drive close to anyone because if I do the chance of an accident could be higher I give people chances to be a little bit further away from where I'm at when I'm driving it's called being a defensive driver expecting the person to make a mistake so if they do make a mistake you're ready

The person in the Nissan shouldn't have been tailgating, cop or not, but the cop also should not have been driving in the left lane, in the manner in which he was (i.e., not in the process of passing slower right-hand traffic) so he was wrong as well, this coming from a police officer

As a wrecker operator/driver I personally hate tailgaters they truly have no clue of the dangerous situation they put themselves in when they tailgate my wrecker that wheel lift in the back is designed to life and transport a vehicle if you smash into it trust me you'd be very lucky to live to tell the story the fact that people tailgate me scares me more then it angers me because god for bid if you hit it and die I have to live with that the rest of my life even though it wasn't my fault
