To the guy who claimed that is Tucson he needs to stop being a lying sack of shit. That is San Diego California not Tucson Arizona. He took a video of a area that looks similar and lied his ass off. That roach motel was on a cable show I saw decades ago and also on multiple Cops episodes I saw back in the 1990s. It looks similar because those hotels were owned and made by the same company but the Motel in Tucson does not have a second floor while the California one does.
I still find it amazing that people are brave enough to submit a clip where they were clearly in the wrong. They should be using your videos in driver's education classes. Thanks for sharing.
Some of them believe they weren't the one that screwed up. And that last one said his wife was the driver, so it wasn't the driver posting it. Some actually are posted by the person who screwed up, though, and they do admit it.
Interesting how the use of the horn has evolved over time. It was first introduced as a warning signal to alert other road users of your approach, particularly helpful when the other individual /driver was either facing or looking the other way. Today's horns seem to be used primarily as a way to express anger and frustration....or bleep out all the swear words.
Using my horn is always so far out of my awareness I can't remember the last time I've used it. Virtually always an event happens so quickly there's no time to use the horn because doing so is AT THE EXPENSE of your ability to maneuver the vehicle. You lose 50% of your control ability in order to use the horn, and that's agility you could/SHOULD be using to AVOID whatever situation you're in. SO OFTEN I see these dashcam videos where someone could have EASILY avoided a crash by braking or turning or maneuvering, but instead they mash the horn and drive right into someone, often with SECONDS of non-reaction other than honking, and you always see some idiot commenting that "if it's not your fault you shouldn't swerve to avoid an accident, just hit them".
@@RobertMorgan Same here. I have been driving for 18 years and I don't recall honking anyone even once. If I see anyone pull out/stop in front of me, my instinct is to break/turn and to avoid an accident. Seems like lots of people do it the other way around. They'd rather honk to "assert their right" or "teach them a lesson" and plow into the other car doing that. I just don't get it.
I use the horn only for waking up people on the traffic lights when it’s a green light for 5 seconds and they are not moving. Usually texting someone. I just press horn for a split second, so it’s not an aggressive signal.
5:40 is the exact reason whenever I see someone flying up behind me, I don’t change anything i’m doing. We can’t predict their next move so it’s best not to add a new variable to the situation.
It’s a fairly reasonable assumption to think, “oh they’re going faster than me and the passing lane is open- they’re going to pass me”. WHY did that guy swerve? egotistical I’m betting lol
Looks like they may have hit black ice. if you watch closely, the SUV kinda swerved/skidded a little and lingered in-between lanes, And the driver SHOULD have had plenty of time to slow down/stop yet slammed into the car anyway. Looks like he tried to go to the left of the car. The problem is, if it was in fact ice you CAN NOT break hard/fast but yea the driver was still flying which he definitely shouldn't have been. He should have been going much slower which would have given him more time to slow down before getting close to the SUV.
@@Shcroft2 no, I think that was the correct move. one less risk factor on the road for a few days. the man did his highway a service. and the best part is he's most likely gonna get a new car, because he really didn't care what happened to the one he was driving
The clip at 4:52 scared the crap out of me. About four months ago me and my mom were in a similar crash. A woman just drove straight into us from behind a stop sign. My car got totaled. I had a friend that was also in a crash like that except it didn't happen at night It happened during the day. Thank God no one was really injured. my friend just had a few bruises. I was almost in a crash, like that. After pulling out of a parking lot, I was about ready to go ahead and go because there were no cars coming all the sudden. This car appears right beside me, nearly hitting me. I was able to swerve out of the way and avoid it. But I nearly hit the side rails.

I agree, it would defintely be uncomfortably close, but I trust that the cameraman driver was definitely going to switch lanes just in time. I understand but am disappointed in the other driver, yes itd be spooky for someone to be hualing ass like that but you HAVE to trust the drive to switch lanes in oder to minimize chances of accidents. Both at fault, i personally think the driver ahead had more fault than the speeder though.
The Black SUV was found to be completely at fault. The cammer didn't 'wait till the last second', he moved to the open lane way before and then was forced to respond when the SUV swerved back and forth. What do you mean ''terrified'? Do you start swerving when an ambulance passes you at speed? You don't even know if he was over the speed limit or in an emergency, imagine trying to defend the fool swerving like that 🙄
@@Hankblue An ambulance doesn't pass me at speed because I pull over like the law says to. An Emergency does not mean you can speed either, you dial 911 if there is an emergency that cannot wait. A lady tried to use that defense in court because her kid was unconscious, the judge asked did you dial 911 and when she said no the charges were upheld. Here that would be called an unsafe lane change or reckless driving. If you pause the video before the guy swerves he has just started his lane change about 2 and half car lengths away, while going almost double the speed. Even if he finished the lane change at that point and the guy didn't swerve he would have just barely missed the guys bumper. You also don't do quick lane changes at high speed when there is snow on the ground.
@@Azsunes That makes no sense, if you pull over the ambulance will pass you at speed. In fact the speed difference between your vehicles will increase if you stop on the highway. If you suddenly become 'terrified' and swerve all over the road when a vehicle comes up behind you at speed, you're not a functional member of society. (This guy wasn't terrified btw, he just wanted to bully someone into not overtaking him so he slammed on brakes and started swerving between lanes). Actually an emergency does mean you can speed, in the same way that a deadly threat means you can use lethal force. The authorities still need to verify your story, but 9 times out of 10 if you can show a reasonable basis for speeding you won't be penalised. Not that any of this matters for this case, because we cannot verify that he was over the speed limit, and the person in the black SUV is not a walking odometer. I don't know why you're mentioning 911, the black SUV had 0 information about whether that person had called or was on the line with 911. He doesn't know whether there was a car shooting at the camera from behind, he doesn't know if it was an undercover cop. He just felt like playing a stupid game to feel like a big man, and that's why he won't get a cent from his insurance.
@@Hankblue I was stating the law that you do not maintain speed for an Ambulance, you pull over and come to a complete stop if it is safe to do so. 5:39 Who is at fault? The dashcam driver is clearly speeding, but the driver in front did not use a blinker to shift lanes. They both had the right of way.
The dashcam driver is at fault provided this is America or the UK. The laws in other countries vary slightly but in those two countries, if you rear-end another vehicle you are at fault for all the damages, even if you got rear-ended to cause the rear-end.
i mean as everyone else has said, the guy with the camera is going way too fast.. but the person he rear ended also shouldn't have suddenly moved to the left without signaling. @@Lenny3x You don't know the actual speed as the only frame of reference is the driver in front who slammed on the brakes +5 seconds before impact. So the car in front both changed lanes (more like swerved back and forth) with no signal and slammed on the brakes while doing so in order to ensure the cammer had nowhere to go.
The driver in front not only slammed on their brakes but they also swerved back in forth through the lanes to ensure they were hit. There are no "legal follow distances" on the books only the 2-3 second rule that people tend to follow. Considering the car in front slammed on their brakes and started swerving to ensure impact 5 seconds before the accident....
5:39 Cammer was driving pretty fast given the road conditions. Rear-ended guy had a couple of choices on how to react, but hitting the brakes should NOT have been in the playbook. Initial fault lies on the cammer, but, seeing how the other guy reacted, I think the cammer ends up as the "victim" in this case since his option(s) aside from "not speeding" were taken away from him. My go to play whenever a guy is running up hot on me (surprisingly often out in Eastern WA) is to just stay the course. Only two options: I get rear-ended and the fault lies strictly on Mr. Hot Wheels, meaning I'm coming out with covered repairs/a new vehicle or Mr. Wheels gets in the passing lane after getting within 1 or 2 car spaces of me, goes about his day, and I'll reach my destination without incident. Being predictable is probably the best thing to do in a situation like that. I've only been driving for 9 years (unlike you salty vets of the pavement), but I have yet to be rear-ended, so I must be doing something right, right? Also, I can't give weight to the caption on the alleged exchange the drivers had, but if it were true, then fault continues to shift towards Mr. Not-so-Hot Wheels for making the worst out of a bad situation on purpose rather than simply reacting poorly to the situation. It sounds terrible, given that the interaction stems from how fast the cammer was driving, but I don't think there is anything more than a speeding ticket awaiting that guy.

This was actually how my first accident happened but the cop was friends with girls mom and so he said I was in the wrong and that you need to wait even if they are indicating a turn.

Not to mention, we have this half and full Kasko insurance thing, most people drive around with half Kasko because its more affordable, but if it is your fault your insurance will only pay for the damage on the other car, not for the damage on your own car. Full Kasko is only worth it for new and expensive cars.
@@mikesmith-po8nd In that case you can still report it stolen as soon as you notice it and police will have to prove who was driving the car. In most European countries you're still innocent until proven guilty. And yes, unfortunately that means that someone can cause an accident, run away, claim the car was stolen and get away with it. Police will however try very hard to determine who was driving. They can use GPS information from your phone, see which towers your phone pinged, and footage from everything ranging from traffic cams, ATM's, security cams and even doorbell cams. Perhaps in rural areas you can run away but in urban areas your odds aren't very good.
I'm 17 and I'm still learning to drive with a permit. I like watching these videos because besides laughing at idiots and being entertained, i like reading the advice the senders give out to other drivers, too. Thankfully the only close calls I've been in was me as a passenger with my dad, but I really do appreciate the extra advice!
@8:44 Nobody behind the pickup, sure. But you just jumped 3 lanes of traffic in a double-left turn lane, and there WAS someone in the lane to your right. WHY is it when someone does something stupid, another someone has to also do something stupid to point out the first stupid thing that happened?
At 5:43, I would have been scared if I saw somebody speeding up behind me too and changed lanes to avoid a collision. Getting rear ended like that is dangerous.
If I see someone going extremely fast behind me, I usually just stay out and keep my speed steady. If they’re driving unreasonably fast, then it’s likely they’re going to pass me so they can continue going fast. Trying to change lanes myself might complicate things and cause an accident, which is likely what happened in that clip
@@alexsolano27 and even then if you don’t move at all and they still hit you it’s the easiest case available rather then trying to move for them since if they rear end you while speeding theres really no way to justify it
Unless you have clear signs that the other person doesnt have the car under control, you should never do that and just keep doing what you're doing. Even in that situation you should probably just keep going at a constant speed in your current lane since, if you do not do that, you'll be adding acceleration to your car making it harder in the case of a crash That said, the cam driver should never be going at those speeds with those climate conditions and, at the very least, he should have changed lanes sooner to keep the minimum security distance at those speeds
@@lengors7327 if they are battling straight towards you, that is a very clear sign that they are about to hit you. Why else would somebody do that? If they intended to change lanes, then they would put on their blinker and change lanes way before they became a clear and present danger.
4:42 poor dog in the back seat, hopefully he or she were okay. Looks like the driver was racing against the pick-up that made it past the intersection. 5:28 great song, Shanice - I love your smile

As a person who got their license in Maryland at 22 because I was terrified of Maryland drivers, most of my drivers Ed class was watching crashing videos…that’s it. We learned with the road signs mean and then after that we watched dash cam crash videos of what not to do. You go through three sessions of drive time with an instructor and that’s it.

9:33 "Good reaction". Sure the accident was avoided it but that's only cause the other car finally saw them and stopped. I guess but certainly wasn't a "good" reaction. I mean, are they not idiots?
Honestly though, I want to find the person responsible for passing this down to their kids. This kinda thing is multi-generational and absolutely blind to race and gender. It also appears to have no cares at all to where you are from or where you are. Indeed, stupid is as stupid does.

This is what always goes through my head as well.
If I did something wrong and not doing that could prevent another accident, I would submit the clip.
It takes spine to admit errors. Gennadyi's wife is a good example of what can happen with even just a slight lapse of concentration.
Some of them believe they weren't the one that screwed up. And that last one said his wife was the driver, so it wasn't the driver posting it. Some actually are posted by the person who screwed up, though, and they do admit it.
never assume bravery where stupidity is a sufficient explanation.
In Lebanon (and many other countries I'm sure) it's still use the first way
@@RobertMorgan Same here.
I use mine to greet people
5:40 is the exact reason whenever I see someone flying up behind me, I don’t change anything i’m doing. We can’t predict their next move so it’s best not to add a new variable to the situation.
It’s a fairly reasonable assumption to think, “oh they’re going faster than me and the passing lane is open- they’re going to pass me”. WHY did that guy swerve? egotistical I’m betting lol
He clearly swerved to try to stop him from passing him. He's an idiot that caused an accident for no reason at all.
Looks like they may have hit black ice. if you watch closely, the SUV kinda swerved/skidded a little and lingered in-between lanes, And the driver SHOULD have had plenty of time to slow down/stop yet slammed into the car anyway. Looks like he tried to go to the left of the car. The problem is, if it was in fact ice you CAN NOT break hard/fast
but yea the driver was still flying which he definitely shouldn't have been. He should have been going much slower which would have given him more time to slow down before getting close to the SUV.

2. Confess to Jesus that you are a sinner and ask forgiveness for your sins and Turn away from your sins. If you sin again after asking forgiveness of that sin, ask forgiveness again and try not to do it ever again. Jesus will forgive you!

I also did not say the driver called 911, you said it was ok to speed if it is an Emergency. There have been many court rulings that have an emergency is no reason to speed, if it is life threatening call 911.

It could go either way but I imagine the one speeding was found at fault simply because he was clearly driving above the speed limit and created an unsafe situation.
@@PerpetuusTenebris I mean, I don't doubt this is true in a lot of cases, but do you have a source that demonstrates it always the case? Because it seems rather illogical to operate that way, IMO of course.

Bad weather conditions increase stopping distance.
Other drivers driving poorly can be a real problem.
You have to adjust your own driving. Or, you can enjoy spending time in a hospital and having to get a new car. I think option A saves more time.
Cammer was driving pretty fast given the road conditions.
Hot Wheels, meaning I'm coming out with covered repairs/a new vehicle
or
Mr.

5:56 the driver put his turn indicator on way too early. You can hear it. The other guy in the SUV did look: he saw the driver signaling a turn. Any experienced driver would interpret that as "I'm going to turn in to that parking lot". I would've made the same move as the SUV. If I were hit, I would believe I was not at fault.
agreed
This was actually how my first accident happened but the cop was friends with girls mom and so he said I was in the wrong and that you need to wait even if they are indicating a turn.
Definitely not. I get what you are saying, but an experienced driver would have waited for the cammer to slow down and begin entering the parking lot before moving out into traffic. There are too many idiots on the road to assume that they will do what you think they will. The blinker was turned on way too early, but that does not mean the SUV should have assumed he was turning right there.
@@ElSnail I have at least learned from my mistake. The accident happened only about a month after I had my license and I was leaving school and I had a bus behind me and I was sitting at the stop sign for an extremely long time and thought it was safe to go since the girls blinker was on but I was wrong

With Company Car pools, that any employee can take you have to have some kind of record, logbook so it is documented who, when and where and how many kilometers etc.

...there are a thousand ways for insurances to weasel their way out of paying... any oh so little illegal modifications on your car, breaklights not working, you were drunk driving or you just didn't pay insurance this month... you're on your own!
Not to mention, we have this half and full Kasko insurance thing, most people drive around with half Kasko because its more affordable, but if it is your fault your insurance will only pay for the damage on the other car, not for the damage on your own car. Full Kasko is only worth it for new and expensive cars.
Ok, that's good to know. Although if a car was stolen and wrecked before the owner could report it, then it could possibly get interesting.
