I rejoice that Kadam Morten has pointed out this instruction so clearly.I feel it is often neglected in practice before 'formal' meditation sessions at Centres..I hope that we may all become more aware of the value of this 'simple' practice and its meaning.Thank you for sharing this insight.

First of all, thank you Kadam Morten for your wonderful, fresh and invigorating discussions on BuddhaDharma.
II have been listening to Kadam Morten's talks, followed by an evening walk around the block. I get to dwell on his insights and find them soooo helpful. I am an ex- New Yorker and I find it ironic that I had to return to Australia before I "met him. It must be divine timing.

Not wanting to win the prize for 'pathetic practitioner' or anything, but just being honest, and this may shock you: it took me 17 years of trying before I could find the object of breathing meditation - the sensation of the breath at the nostrils. So if you have been trying for 3, 6, 9, 12 years without success - I hope you find it encouraging that there is someone out there that sucks at meditation more than you do. Never Give Up.

Please slow it down to the original content. I promise people will listen and absorb what he’s saying at the actual pace 🙏

I have sat with Theravada monks in a monastic setting. And this is just about the only meditation that they indulge in. Unfortunately. I find that the meditations on compassion and loving-kindness are the paths to mental peace. And breathing meditation is a tool for moments when we are not meditating on a particular VIRTUE. Although peace is attained via the breadth, it is not as sublime as that which arises from compassion and metta.
