I think maybe the hanging above the chickens is part of their rituals. Maybe sacrificial blood drips onto the chickens, who then become their food. This way the sacrifice is brought to all members.
As a Swede I don't know wether to laugh or be offended by the fact that the things she called "creepy" are actually real traditional things we have for celebrations, like the Maypole😂 I'm not going to tell you the rest of it. Come and find out for yourselves on june 21st🇸🇪🤫
I love the movie, but I feel like once every 90 years isn't frequent enough to maintain the community. There is definitely a range of ages there and people are hitting 72 years old more often than every 90 years. Also is one pregnancy every 90 years going to keep up your numbers. But maybe that's just every 90 years they are adding new dna to their community. Still feels off though. EDIT: I totally wrote this before watching the review at the end. Glad I'm not the only one that wonders.
How could Siskel, who died in 1999, give a thumbs up? Umm. Ha, just asking. However, as a horror fan with a snoddy nose up at gore porn and generally not a fan of slow burn… this is a wonderful watch. Very disturbing, it stayed with me for weeks. Ugh. Great, terrible movie.
After I watched this movie for the first time I was totally on Dani's side cuz she deserved better especially with her loser bf who got what he deserved and his loser friends who were A** holes cuz she was going threw so much especially after what her sister did to her parents but after everything Dani got what she wanted a real family who cared about her

Ahha! Just found the comment in my notifications! Clearance racks are where I have found some of my best clothes, and I too would live in that one. It suits you so much! And no, the cemetery didn't seem so much culty as zombie-like. When I looked back from the graves to the rise of the hill behind me, which just obscured the gates, something about it reminded me hardcore of Night of the Living Dead and sent a chill through me. I first saw that movie as a kid and it stuck with me. I've seen far more gorey and horrific movies since, but seeing that as a kid, it really stays with you.
There was also a tiny bathroom by the gates, and I got the worst feeling about it, like something horrific had happened in there. I stuck my head in, said fuck no, and left.

God, I hate this “movie”. There is not one scary thing about it. A cult that eats, drinks and belches in each other’s faces. It has wonderful art/set direction, but no need for a old folks home there! To me it was just plain stupid.
