This car was banned not because it was "too good", it was banned because Porsche complained that the engine found in the M3 GTR race car isn't found in the road-going model. (BMW still continues this though, for example the V8 on the BMW Z4 GT3 isn't found on the road-going Z4s)

This my favorite car in any racing game ever. From the beautiful wide spoiler to the subtle high pitched sound in the engine. This game is what started my obsession with bmws lol. Remember trying to recreate this car in every racing game i bought from that point on.

I literally looked this video up because I was nostalgic for when I used to play with this on a PS2, the M3 GTR was my favourite car, for looks and noise. That buzzing roar overtoned by the whine of the turbocharger, with a quick stutter at every gear change. LOVE IT!
it's really awesome, i still have it for my ps2 and my pc, oh and to clarify one little thingy, this car doesn't have a turbo or it would show on the bottom area of the tachometer (not to mention that whistle they make when you lift the throttle to pass a gear), the engine is sheer Naturally Aspirated POWAH ( xD ) with the whine of the straight cut gears of the transmission ;)

Just the awesome noise of this car as you effortlessly smoke the competition, just for long enough that you fall in love with the car. And then Razor’s all FIRST I TAKE YOUR RIDE THEN I TAKE YOUR GIRL, SO BE READY FOR THAT… and *does.* In that moment of loss, when you don’t get to hear that lovely transmission whine for the next 30 hours, a monster is born, and you have SUPREME motivation to get your ride back.
thetricker01 its nitrous is not exactly the most powerful in the game, and it could use a turbo..but the grip, acceleration and lookings of the car is just magnificent, it's really responsitive and it really can take you out of tight situations if driven well enough ...a lot of fun when using on the last pursuit :3
This is the best car sound in all of gaming history. In modern NFS games this car sounds nothing like the real one but in Most Wanted (17yo game) it sounds so sexy dayum!

Even after playing NFS 2015 with the deluxe car, I keep coming back to this. You really feel that something's amiss without this sound. You don't get the same feeling at all. Besides the handling of this car is soo much better compared to e46 in NFS 2015. I guess I like the feeling of using a superior car in the game, and this is the best one ever made in NFS series. Hopefully there will be a PC mod that can change its sound to this. Wonderful driving btw.

Since the BMW M3 GTR is the most iconic car of the game, and it is basically what the player is trying to get throughout the whole game, it has to be the fastest car. Otherwise it would be a disappointment.

It's because the GTR in 2015 is a normal inline V6, whereas this one in MW is V8 and is kinda rare in real life...

The whine is from straight cut gears. That's also why it sounds like it shifts quicker

The_BenJman this car doesn't have a turbo, the whine or whistle you hear while driving is the transmission

For a ps2 game made by years ago this game was my favourite of all time and this bmw m3 gtr is a great car to race with even in NFS HEAT for ps4 I remember really well and the graphics on the games still looks amazing but this guy here is a speed demon for sure!
