Healthy Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting:
    ▶️ • Dr. Berg's Healthy Ket...
    ▶️ • Dr. Berg's Guide to He...
▶️ • How to Do Intermittent...
In this video, I want to cover what PCOS is and what can cause PCOS.
    Symptoms of PCOS:
    • Infrequent or prolonged menstrual cycle
    • Excess male hormones (androgens)
    • Infertility
    • Excess hair growth on the body
    • Thinning hair on the head
    • Acne
    • Insulin resistance
Most websites will tell you that the potential causes of PCOS are genetic or maybe environmental. But, I think the missing piece that you need to know is that high androgens can be caused by high insulin. And high androgens may cause many of the symptoms of PCOS.
Unfortunately, insulin levels are rarely checked. You can’t really determine what’s going on with insulin by checking your blood sugar levels. You could actually have normal blood sugars and still have high levels of insulin.
If you’re not sure what causes high insulin, I have a lot of other videos on that topic. Watch those videos and start the Healthy Keto Diet and intermittent fasting.

I’m 28 years old, from the beginning of my menstrual cycle as a teen it was normally regular, it wasn’t until maybe early 20’s my periods were irregular, one month on one month off. Around 2017, they weren’t as consistent, 2019 I went months without my period! I was also my heaviest around 2019, about 194lbs and 5’2, so you can imagine my bmi. Late 2020 last year, I was officially diagnosed with pcos. And it made me sad to know that I was “infertile” as I wasn’t getting my periods.
That’s when I was sick of being obese and tired of being sadden at the idea of not even having the option to have kids one day and I decided January 17, 2021 at 186lbs to start keto. I won’t say that I loved keto because it’s the drop in carbs and intake of fats but it definitely changed my relationship with food and nutrition that I so desperately needed. You can’t exactly go by the motto “in moderation” when you’ve become your heaviest and at that point it’s hard to reverse. Working out won’t achieve much if your diet is so poor like mine was and I was carrying so much fat it was hard to work out without feeling like fainting! But also don’t listen to people on the internet or in your life who are so negative about keto because it changed my life. I also incorporated intermittent fasting and eventually started doing omad. And mind you while doing keto I barely exercised, I just stuck to a keto diet and the pounds shed.
By May 2021, I lost 28lbs, I weighed 158 at my lowest and then I just received news that I’m pregnant and naturally too! While we didn’t plan to be pregnant, it’s what I asked wanted eventually in life. I worked really hard for only 5 months, and after years of poor eating I was able to reverse it. I’m not at my goal weight which is around 135lbs but if I can do it so can you. By the month of May as it finally became warmer in Toronto, I started incorporating walks, and mini sprints up the stairs outdoors, and it feels completely different working out 28lbs lighter. You feel like you can actually move without being out of breath and in pain. It takes that step and motivation to just one day drop everything and do it! I watched so many of Dr. Berg’s videos to keep going when I wanted to quit. Good luck out there!

Had PCOS as teen/early 20s. Not diagnosed diabetic until 40 years later with full metabolic syndrome suite. This can go on a very long time before diagnosed. Someone with the symptoms Dr Berg describes here could greatly benefit from using PCOS as an indicator that they are on the road to diabetes later in life. It is a real indicator of susceptibility to insulin resistance. Reduce/eliminate sugars/carbs from diet now. Save yourself a lot of trouble. Just like Dr. Berg says here.

From a spiritual concept, Pcod also stems from childhood trauma probably emotional trauma being bought up in the hands of dysfunctional parents.
That emotional stress does many damages . Just to name a few
Maternal trauma and lack of parental love induces stress response in ovaries of the daughters which react by staying immature and not to ovulate. It also over produces androgens in an attempt to guard the daughter as androgens or testosterone imply masculinity and strength which could help the daughter to stand up against the ongoing abuse.
Another reason is emotional stress leads to overeating which causes obesity and insulin resistance .
Interestingly , there are many lean pcods who also have insulin resistance. Infact emotional stress can lead to insulin resistance with or without obesity .
So, I feel , if the trauma is healed. Pcod could be potentially cured.
Pcod needs spiritual cure apart from other usual weight management strategies.

This is mostly due to the adrenal glands not functioning properly. You need a good doctor who is versed in holistic medicine practices. Most traditional doctors do not pay attention to the adrenal glands, but they also play a role in PCOS. Ask your Dr if the are knowledgeable in MTHFR mutation and get tested for that too. It is a game changer for patients with PCOS. This guy is removing my comments because the information he is giving out is old and it is a disservice to people to not give them the right information.

I'm literally on my way to my IVF treatment right now. I've faced almost 5 years of infertility, 3 losses including a funeral for an unborn baby of mine. The only thing that helps pcos is fighting insulin resistance and lowering inflammation. I had an ovarian wedge resection surgery performed by a trained NAPROTECHNOLOGY surgeon and I got pregnant immediately after this surgery. Find a REAL expert on PCOS. Get a 2nd, 3rd or 4th opinion if necessary!!!!

I remember I worked at a drug store, and my co-worker almost died when a cyst on her ovary ruptured!!! It's a good thing that it was her day off and she was at home! Her parents rushed her to the hospital and the doctor's said if they were five minutes later she would of died. They even had a accident on the way to the hospital. And the man that got hit seen the distress on the parents and told them don't worry just get your daughter to the hospital. Things were different back then. She was only 19 or 20 years of age! And a great gal.

Happy to see this subject. I was diagnosed about 13years ago. At the time fertility was my biggest concern so I focused on how to get my cycles on track. My research led me to Maca which is a Peruvian root. It works very slowly to regulate hormones. After 2 months of taking it my cycles normalized after close to 20 plus years like magic and I could pin point them every single month to within a day or 2. It definitely worked for me. I'd be curious to know if you've heard of it.

If I had the "problem" now I would just check insuline levels and change my diet. Back then I believed in doctors, "medication" and that my acne was a lost case. Again, I so much appreciate your videos and the way that you share important information! I would love to hear you speak about the healthy keto and versions of that are a a more long-term sustainable fit for people in different situations.. for example, I feel like there is a difference between male and female bodies and different ages....female bodies especially as they get menopausal, aswell as, more complex situations where there's thyroid issues, autoimmune issues, fatty liver, etc... We know all of these conditions are connected, as you've helped us to understand. However, I would love to hear your thoughts and have you shed some more light on different versions of Keto diets for different situations. I know you kind of touched on these areas as I've watched many of your videos. I'm finding that a strict no or very low carb keto diet isn't what is sustainable for me at this time and/or long term, but I can still apply the things that I've learned from you, especially, about intermittent fasting. A SYNDROME is a medical condition for which mainstream medicine has determined there is no known cause to qualify it as a DISEASE.
Many SYNDROMES can be tied to untreated thyroid condition.
Read Dr Broda Barnes, "Hypothyroidism: the unsuspected illness "
Metformin can be toxic to your body .
Untreated thyroid causes many cases of infertility. See book.

I suffered from PCOS. I've been doing keto and IF since mid July. Menstrual cycle came back monthly after month 2. Got prego in January and I've been trying naturally for almost a decade. ❤

I was told I "likely" had PCOS two decades ago. I was told if I lost some weight it might improve. I agree that there's a lot of *general* info available (that just describe the condition, not the causes). I'm just starting to figure it all out now & making the insulin resistance connection.

The best thing you can do is cut out caffeine. Most of us consume sugar along with coffee or tea. Have a fruit everyday. Include animal fats to a small extent which will keep you satiated. Try to manage stress levels which cause you to have sweet cravings

Hmm... I'm really looking forward to more videos on this, because I do have pcos. My grandmother had it. My aunts have and and most of the females in my family have it but at varying degrees. From personal experience I would say genetics does have a part to play in it. I recently did some blood tests and while my sugar reading was normal my testosterone level was slightly elevated. My insulin was not checked though. Again this is my personal experience. But I have tried intermittent fasting and it was honestly alot harder for me than eating 3 to 4 small meals throughout the day. Whenever I broke my fast I'd 1) get soo hungry I'd eat alot more than I should 2) experience the crash u get when eating a heavy meal. ( mind you it sometimes wasn't even that large a meal , meat and veggies)

Have you checked Dr Berg's videos on these points? Most of them are very short and to the point. Also check his videos on hunger.
