As a veteran SAAB dealer, some helpful hints. I never had an issue with the over-pressure switch, even with our high-boost tuned 900s. The starter motor itself sounds horrible. Bendix slipping or cracked flexplate. The knee pad you removed saves knee caps. When idling, the turbo gauge should be lower, more towards 9 o'clock. That vac hose is a breather. Does the vacuum operated rotary vent switch work properly? Does it hiss? Smoke test is called for.
Those early SAAB 900 and late 99 Turbo's eat idle control valves Mike. I have lost count on how many 99 and 900 Turbo's i have worked on over the years, let alone the ones iv restored here in England!!!
Really enjoy watching you work on some of my favorite cars. I grew up with those cars around every corner. Great stuff. You obviously had those cars with greater engines, in Finland most of them were with smaller engine and basic trim level due to taxation.
Another great video and loving the new audio and video and glad to see the Saab coming along and glad u got it fixed and got a few things figured out. thanks for sharing keep uo the great work much love to ya have a good one take care god bless see ya on the next one
Nice to see you're finding things. The Saab is coming around nicely! It's been my experience in buying old cars that you have to find and undo all the old hacks, then sometimes put in your own.
Hey mike... I snug up a vice grip onto a fitting. Then tighten a quarter turn and crimp all flats on the fitting to break loose the rusty fitting. Usually works great. May have to repeat this a few times
Good job glad you're winning a little ,older vehicles are still very complex all the different systems I hate to say you need someone more Tools to help you work on you're vehicles you need some kind of lift I seen that lift anyone of your vehicle up to make it easier to get under a four post lift roll it around were ever you need it or I believe there called majestic jack that fit on either side of vehicle lift it up . Unfortunately all my vehicles are Trucks sit too high . Yes they are not cheap I watch every video you put out Your reactions are real not fake like other people . Keep them coming
Saab provided those two wires over by the passenger side footwell so that you can bypass the turbo over-pressure switch without having to take apart the entire lower dash. Sorry i probably should have mentioned that before. You went through too much taking all that stuff apart. Good job figuring that much out on your own though. Not many would have thought through exactly what was happening like you did there. The turbo over-pressure switch stops power to the fuel pump so that your engine doesn't blow it's brains out with too much boost if the turbo charger waste gate malfunctions. If you see ever see your turbo gauge pegged all the way maxxed out to the furthest in the red while driving and you have a bypassed turbo over pressure switch, just pull over and turn off the car to essentially do the job your over pressure switch would have done.
If the local junkyard still has a similar model, it might be best to go there and take pictures of all the wires and vacuum lines under the dash to figure out where they go and if you are missing any parts since wiring diagrams and vacuum line routing information on that car might not be all that easy to come by. I've had a few hack-job beaters back in my day and found that was the easiest way to figure a mess out where there are unplugged wires and potentially missing parts.
Awesome video Mike. Do big smoke test now when you have dash open. See if you can find also other possible leaks from engine bay. You'll have a blast to drive this car after engine is working with full potential. It is a fast car!
. Ike your videos are excellent on your cars, you go slowly and work out what is happening, so top marks sir, have fun its all good experience ok enjoy your week 😂😂😂😂
Mike, have you looked into your fuel pressure regulator? If it's bad, lyou lose prime in the morning trying to start. If you cycle the ignition, maybe 2-3 and let the fuel pump bring up the pressure before trying to start first time in the morning.. If it i does, most likely, fuel pressure regulator is bad.
From what I've learned from other car people is that old brake hoses tend to expand and clog up on the inside. Best off to just replace them as far as I know.
Whenever we have a bad caliper we replace the pads and rotors. And we actually had to replace the back brake line on our truck a long time ago and omg talk about expensive.
My 2002 Saab 93 OG convertible used to run like poop and I did a smoke test and my throttle body was cracked I bought a new one not cheap runs like a dream now worth doing a smoke test
Love the new audio and video! Next level! Glad to see the Saab coming together!
Appreciate it!
I think Randy needs this car when it’s done. That way when both of the Saabs break down Nick and him can “Sob” together hahahaha.

You are living the SAAB life Mike👍
Hi Mike! Thanks for all your hard work. Wishing you great success in the future.
Much appreciated!

Be careful with all the bad weather in Tulsa today!! Love the content!
That sound you heard while working on the brakes is called a "Brake Fart". Glad to be of assistance.
Luv everything you do Mr. Wrench!

You are doing a job on the Saab
Thats so funny Mike getting that bottom of the dash off
If you haven't noticed already, the pistons need a special tool to turn so that you can push them in.
Hi Mike replace the hoses and make sure the calipers compress easily
The Saab is going to be amazing Mike. Good work as always.
Loving the Lola Zoomies!
love the quacking in the background! very charming haha

Был старый каталог с картинками EPC там хорошие рисунки были
brake booster leak that's why when you it the brakes the idle changes.
Use bike or motorbike cables for parking break. Or parts or use google image finder to identify parts. Is a huge help ;)
The Camera looks and sounds good Mike 😎😎👍👍
Usually I’d say hard starting is caused by MWM’s notoriously awesome batteries, but in this case I think your starter is crap.
Definitely has vacuum issues!!!
Mike, You need a new starter. It's a little tricky because it's located under the intake manifold, but that should fix your hard start condition.
Whenever we have a bad caliper we replace the pads and rotors. And we actually had to replace the back brake line on our truck a long time ago and omg talk about expensive.
Causes of dirt in small hoses causing blockage☺️
Its getting there 😉💪👍
The camera quality is really good.
I love love love this Saab it’s so cool and really interesting to watch,
What exactly is the new camera? Looks and sounds great Mike! Thanks for the content. 100k in 2025 botherman!!!!
Man for near 40 year old car 88 Sasb 900 seems easy work on minus solving that crazy wiring set-up.
Yes, Mike, unfortunately, we heard every word that you said, loud and clear! 😂
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You could tell the first brake was working and the second wasn’t by looking at the rotor-1st was shiny, 2nd still had a bunch of rust on it.
Yep!
Sounds great
My 2002 Saab 93 OG convertible used to run like poop and I did a smoke test and my throttle body was cracked I bought a new one not cheap runs like a dream now worth doing a smoke test
Stay tuned!
👋❤👀
Bubbly bubbly boil and troubly
It was Mike and a Saab and a big ole dog and a duck named Binzo tooooo ..( tune of Della and the dealer)
Where are all your CARS? Sold I presume.
Monkey Wrench Mike HQ needs one of those aluminum DIY car garages behind the house for those under the weather wrenches!
So the Disco Inferno was one fire too many?😁
Lola has the Zoomies
You need a starter
@7:15 where's the genie?
brake booster leaking if you put your foot on the brake pedal and the engine runs rough
Everybody Like, Share, Subscribe, Comment. This is a good channel.
Yes, please!
The duck is hungry
Thank God you didn't get any in you eye
Hiii😂
With new cam and mic, now all that there is left to do is power wash the concrete and your background will be complete.
Put prolong additive in oil
That wiring looks goosed or ducked
I suggest a Citroen 2CV "the duck' as next project car. Nice progress on the Saab
❤️🥰👍🤙
That duck is anoying!,🤬
You need rotors n pads.dont be cheap
FYI: Saab went bankrupt ten years ago. Dood luck finding parts ...
They didn't exactly go bankrupt, GM killed them.
That duck going shit all over the place
