    Hey guys in this video I will be showing you guys how to remove and replace an oil pan gasket on a 2015 BMW 320i. It's very similar to the other years so it can be helpful. I tried my best recording this, but I record alone and I don't have a very good tripod. I hope you guys enjoyed this video and leave any comments for anything that you guys want to see next or whatever you guys recommend, or ways you guys can help me out :) Thanks you guys and Happy New Year's Eve :)

    Wow! People must really love these cars! I can definitely see the repairs costing more than the car is worth at a certain point and time. Good video. I've never owned one before. I considered getting one but definitely will not moving forward. 👍

      Not sure what you are looking at, but hopefully not lol. I doubt it, I always check whats in the oil pan if there is metal, or other stuff like gasket maker etc.

    Great job! This same procedure would work on an n20 for a rear wheel drive 328i right?

    • @houseofteks7474

      They are pretty much all the same procedures but could vary slightly.

    How you lined the subframe with the radiator mount up ?

  • @tgshark1
    @tgshark1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Good stuff might as well add at 205 or just replace the motor mounts at the same time

    • @houseofteks7474
      @houseofteks7474  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah true, but for the price that some of these parts may be, might be better to wait to get the most out of them.

    Thanks for the helpful tips. Definitely a good idea to unbolt the transmission mounts when jacking up the center or rear of the transmission. I didn’t unbolt it and I tore both rear mounts

    • @houseofteks7474
      @houseofteks7474  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, get more clearance by unblocking the rear transmission mount.

    where do you put the 2 special bolts for the oil pan? i cant seem to find a diagram anywhere. think its number 2 and 3? cant seem to find a video or post with a exact position. thanks!

      @@houseofteks7474 according to RealOEM (as well as FCPeuro) for my RWD F30 2013 328i, 2 of the rear(?) oil pan bolts are the same size but have blue sealant (EDIT: white sealant, I bought and installed them just in case) pre-applied to the threads. Supposedly this seals oil from leaking from 2 (of 22 screw holes) that are through-holes to the crank case.
      It seems like most techs aren’t mentioning anything about this. Not sure if it’s even true. I looked at mine w/ a flash light and those holes seemed to bottom out like the others.

    how did you disconnect the steering?? i unbolted but it won’t slide off

    • @houseofteks7474
      @houseofteks7474  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes you got to tap on it with a hammer and prybar or a flat head. Same thing when installing. Try not to hit the cylinder part, hit the most solid part like where the bolt slides through.

      Yeah, sometimes its better to let the shop do it, they can take care of the headache, and you also avoid not breaking anything else.

    Mechanic was charging $1100 for this job! Do u think that’s a fair price?

    • @johnnypolex
      @johnnypolex ปีที่แล้ว +2

      5hrs x $150/hr, $50 oil + filter, $30 oil pan screws, $25 oil pan seal, 8% tax = ~$920
      It’s in the ball park range. Depends on parts costs, labor prices, which parts actually being replaced, etc.

      Not too bad, it is a German vehicle at the end of the day, gets pretty expensive. I would say call the dealer and get a quote and go from there, it'll feel like a steal then. If its too cheap I would also be scared unless they normally work on German vehicles.
