    you can do a similar thing in sound design as well, just take a very messy sound wave which is a lot like like noise and use a band pass with keytracking and the Q setting of the bandpass related to the key velocity and then play it. This is very similar to sub synthesis and holds the potential to make great sounds.

    This is really great!! If you don't add any pitch correction to this and just use parts that are "fairly" in pitch, with some reverb & delay you can get really nice leads that break standard tuning for some extra spice :)

    Cool idea. I would do the recording with a veeery low level and than put a limiter and a Lowpass filter on it. An alternative would be to use a bandpass filter onto the audio source and automate it or sync it with an LFO or a rythmic LFO pattern like in Melda plugins and than record that outcome. Thanks for the impression.

  • @nachiketagrawal5154

    I think you definitely need autotuning. Coz just because you're selecting a band of frequency from a sample in a given scale, doesn't mean all the frequencies you hear are in the scale. This is because Harmonic Series doesn't stick to scales. (Heck, doesn't even stick accurately to any notes in Equal Temperament).

    • @hanshanshansans

      Whats the problem with making melodies outside of 12TET?

    • @nachiketagrawal5154
      @nachiketagrawal5154 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hanshanshansans not a problem if you're into experimental music. If it's sound great, it is great.
      The only "problem" is that not only the song not be in the key, it will not even be in the chromatic scale perfectly. That's what I meant

    • @TheAce12570
      @TheAce12570 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hanshanshansans Nothing "wrong" with it, but 99,9999% of all musicians will have to use *a* music system to make music, and all DAWS that I know of as well as most plugins default to 12TET, so making anything else in one of them can be pretty hard. If you want to authentically capture an ethnic sound that uses a different music system or whatever, sure, go for it, but if you're just doing it because "it's not 12TET", without really knowing what's unique about the system you're using instead or how to take advantage of it, then you're just being pretentious.
      12TET is still the most versatile music system around, and the one the most people in the world are familiar with, so it's going to be the best option for most producers learning how to make music, aka the target audience for this video.
