- To buy a ship cost a lot of money so being able to hire a ship is a very valuable option. Hiring a Prospector and mining ore is a great way to build up your wallet. You can double your earnings if you plan ahead and refine ore and hire a transport to take it to market. You can start by selling ore straight and then work up to refining when your wallet looks a bit fatter.

So Boffins. I did an experiment. I came home with a nearly pure load of Borase which is the best of the second tier ores. The total Ore Sale value was about 47k and the refined profit from the run about 95k. If you aim to fill up with about 50% top tier ores and top off the hold with second tier ores then you should consistently bring back about 50k in ore. The advantage of selling the ore direct is you get paid for the trash ores without having to move them.
