How will this setup hold up in wind, especially on a 50' run? Where I live we sometimes get days of consistent 20-25 mph winds with gusts 40-50 mph. Seems like I watched a video a few years ago where they drilled 4 holes through the concrete, then anchored long pieces of rebar through the holes into the substrate. After setting the vinyl posts over the rebar they poured concrete in the top of each post deep enough to cover the exposed rebar. Looked like a lot of work compared to your method and not sure if it was overkill. Any thoughts?
Good video. I want to put a 4x6.5 gate on one side of my home that has a 8’ wide space. Has a concrete border and pavers. Would love one steel post you have on there but idk what to do about my paver floor base for the remaining 2 post I would need to install
Every time I sleeve over chaillink I use gravel or pea gravel it gives you a lot of wiggle room if they are not in line with each other like almost all chainlink fences.you can always cut up you scrap vinly to make post inserts. You should be screwing all your bottom rails in no matter what. High wind can flex it enough to pop them out even if you can't wiggle them.
I like to take my hammer drill and drill three holes inside the 5x5 post then hammer down some rebar I sleeve the post over the rebar and then fill it with concrete like a Masonary technique works pretty good.
Around here there is sweat involved as soon as you leave the air conditioned truck. I have seen flanges mounted to concrete like that but electrolysis and rust always seems to take hold in a few years unless a rubber or asphalt soaked spaced is used. Vinyl fence is hardly ever used here but the steel or aluminum picket fences over galvanized frame is very popular. Prefab concrete fences are too, and for those you need to core through the concrete, There is a skid steer coring bit but it is slow and the core likes to get stuck.
Nice video, My niece has a house with fence posts already installed from a previous fence. The posts are not evenly spaced but close. I want to help her out and install a fence over the existing posts. Where do I get good quality fencing that I can cut to fit the spacing between the posts. The posts are already installed into a cement pad so they will be hard to remove. Pleas help.
Hi Im trying to use this method to install a 3" aluminum post to galvanized pole. I cannot find donuts this size, is it possible to fill the void with concrete or expanding foam?
I have a wooden fence that I am replacing w vinyl. But my posts are postmaster type posts. Is it possible to apply vinyl posts onto my existing postmaster steel posts?
Cool video. Behind you next to the all vinyl fence it looks like corrugated metal inside a vinyl frame. I’m trying to come up with a solution to create a privacy fence in my new backyard. Vinyl is so expensive to surround a large space. Is it corrugated metal? Thanks
I wish I could find those donut things and the simple posts with flange. The big bx stores don't seem to carry them, and the fence companies kind of sneer and want to come round and quote me for an install. Any suggestions?

If you're in Wyoming or Florida, from us! 307-578-8040 Otherwise you'll have to call around and see who has the good stuff. We source our vinyl from National Vinyl Products out of Nephi, UT.
Cool Video. How do you not have an open space at the bottom? I want to put a small Vinyl fence on top of a block wall to block out the neighbors. As they are just storing stuff in their yard and it looks bad. Good for them. But I like not to see it at all.
The space at the bottom is all about measuring. You can leave yourself as much or as little as you want. If you're not on concrete you have to deal with the contour of the land as well, but you can still get pretty close.
We don't have them listed on the website, but we will custom make 8' postmaster posts with welded baseplate to order. Give us a call at the shop. 307.578.8040
If you want to skip wearing the respirator/mask you could go with an OSHA Table 1 compliant roto hammer, basically has a built in vacuum. Nice video, slightly disappointed that I didn’t get to see a bunch of tasty doughnuts 🍩.
Have you ever heard of anyone putting a vinyl post over an old wood post? The company who installed my gate did exactly that. Should I be concerned and tell them to come back and correct it?
We wouldn't do it that way but different contractors have different methods. The longevity of your post is going to be determined by the quality of the wood post they installed over. If it's solid and there's no signs of rot you're probably ok for a while.
If you're not comfortable doing it you should be able to find someone in your area who can weld them up for you. If you need to you can always buy them from us (www.swifence.com/plated-post-ss-40-6x6.html?id=44194424&quantity=1) (prices include freight).
We do have the 4x4 version as well: www.swifence.com/plated-post-for-concrete-mounted-vinyl-fence-2-3-8.html?id=81640137 Give the guys at the shop a shout if you've got details you need to work through. 👍🏻 307.578.8040
This is how all diy tutorial videos should be like. Awesome work.
That's a big compliment. Thanks!
That seems a lot more snug and user friendly than some other types of brackets that I’ve used. Well put . Thanks Dan
Would like to see a video for building a vinyl fence gate over a concrete opening.
Thank you so much for posting this video and for posting the links. It was extremely helpful!!!!!!

Really nice work and straight to the point!! Thanks 🙏

When the concrete expands in the winter it will break the vinyl....tried it

I have a wooden fence that I am replacing w vinyl. But my posts are postmaster type posts. Is it possible to apply vinyl posts onto my existing postmaster steel posts?
There is not an adapter to achieve this that I'm aware of.
And also how far apart do you recommend the donuts to be?
Nice job!
Thanks!
How tall of galvanized post do you use in this video?
Thank you awesome job
Our pleasure!
If my vinyl post is 5 feet to the top of the post cap do I buy the 4 foot SS40 post or should I cut a 5 foot SS40 to fit?
I'd just go with the 4'. You don't need that steel post extending up into your top rail.
Great video

Yes, for sure, those were trimmed down to size. 👍🏻
Ok thank you. Thanks for the fast reply aswell
