Pros usually wanna play as safe as they can, so even though throw teching is rewarding because it prevents damage/resets to neutral, it's risky. Just look back at the last game in tournaments; throws were taken all the time.
Grabbing 4 times in a row actually helped Punk to understand Fox's game style, notice how many times Punk got Fox to fall for shimmies after the 4 grabs in a row. Fox was expecting some kind of revenge and kept thinking Punk was going for grabs, but Punk was ice cold, unfazed by the grabs, used the situation in his favor. Very powerful composure and mind games.

I would’ve felt at home because Ono choose the schematics of VF. This game took those schematics even further. The last 2 days playing this beta I can actually say. I was addicted to street fighter again. We in for something special this time around.
I've never been truly committed to Sf myself, Im a tekken player, but I have to agree that this one looks truly special and I'm going to really give it a shot this time around

I really love how the interactions here seems a lot more varied. I love Sf5 but people had a problem with the main mixup characters is shimmy, grab, or not. Drive impact looks quite silly and I love it.
The King of fighters series is the king at that. It's a small detail but it's dope. There's some other old school fighting games that do that. Killer instinct 64 does but only at the end of a fight.
The first fight summarize what I expect from this game as a player and as a spectator. I mean, if you only watch the first few seconds of the match you can say: "we'll sonic has this" ¿right? Then a few seconds later punk got the lead, all this due to the amount of tools that you have in this game to be very agresive but at the cost that if you go bananas, you'll be punish for that, its not as spectacular combo heavy game. But it's agresive, entertaining, and with the all mighty comeback factor in full force. Damn this was a joy to watch.
Sonic Fox definitely has the combos and the knowledge of how much damage certain moves can do but punk definitely has better neutral and spacing to get those pokes in.. these two players are really good
Jamie is like a combo of 3 different fighters. He's got Shun'ei's rolled up pant leg, Shun Di's "better moves the more you drink," and C. Viper's/Donovan's crazy long single braid. You just gotta love him!

Danggg bois, as a SF player since the 90's, I'm glad I stopped playing after SF4. This series now looks like Tekken did back in the day with Nintendo Splatoon effects.... I'm sticking with fighting games that have beautiful animation and at least try to emulate hand-drawn art like Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ

The lack of use of drive impact especially in the corner makes me wonder how nutty and unpredictable high level matches will be or will the possibility of spamming DI and its predictability prevent it from being a viable mechanic in competitive matches
Haven't played street fighter since 4 but I'm really looking forward to 6. The weight behind character actions and their versatility appears to be a lot better
The neutral in alot of these matches seems kinda strange. So often when the drive gauges are low, there will just be these staring matches. Too dangerous to wiff, so no one throws out anything. It will be interesting to see if this is a knowledge check they just dont have cause the system is so new, or if waiting for drive gauge is going to be the new standard in tournament.
@@kaykier Attempting to shimmy in games like MK11 and Skull Girls will get you blown up. In MK11 all characters are too slow to shimmy (also crouching without blocking avoid throws altogether, so it completely negates the use for shimmies)
@@Fl0wchart No it won't, where did you get that info from? Shimmying is viable in both of those games, especially MK11. Also, Sonic literally made top 8 EVO in SF5, not sure why you're dogging him for being 'bad' at shimmying when it's just the fact that Punk had better reads lol.
@@kaykier Been an MK11 pro for a while, never once saw a higher Ranked opponent attempt a shimmy. Also if I wanted to dog SonicFox, I'd disrespect their pronouns.
@@kaykier ALSO shimmies are completely unnecessary because you can react to throws and simply just have to guess which side they are trying to throw you. Shimmies only work when throws have to be teched by pre-emptively teching it as you are getting thrown, but MK11 is nowhere near that unforgiving with throws.

Whatever you think about this game so far, and yes I understand they are trying to bring a new experience to a new generation, you can still appreciate the little SF classics they've carried into 6. I'll wait until I actually get to play before I judge the game, but small stuff like that makes me hopeful that I'll stick with it instead of dropping it after a month or so like V. On a side-note, while Jaime doesn't play exactly like Twins he does remind me of what makes the twins so fun to play, I am actually excited to play him. Least Capcom could do is give him divekicks if we aren't getting one of the twins in 6 lol and before anyone says corner pressure isn't exclusive or special to SF, you're missing the point of what happened in that sequence. Yes, I know the shimmy, throws, mix-ups, OHs, etc. aren't exclusive to SF anymore, but what happened there was Classic SF corner play.

It seems pretty reactable, which might make it weak in a game with a parry system. I think it'll be strong but used sparingly.

Whatever you think about this game so far, and yes I understand they are trying to bring a new experience to a new generation, you can still appreciate the little SF classics they've carried into 6. I'll wait until I actually get to play before I judge the game, but small stuff like that makes me hopeful that I'll stick with it instead of dropping it after a month or so like V. On a side-note, while Jaime doesn't play exactly like Twins he does remind me of what makes the twins so fun to play, I am actually excited to play him. Least Capcom could do is give him divekicks if we aren't getting one of the twins in 6 lol
and before anyone says corner pressure isn't exclusive or special to SF, you're missing the point of what happened in that sequence. Yes, I know the shimmy, throws, mix-ups, OHs, etc. aren't exclusive to SF anymore, but what happened there was Classic SF corner play.
