    • @OllieLoops
      @OllieLoops  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When you sample into the drum section, it auto chops the sample and assigns the chops to the slots. So, you can sample up to 16 drum hits in the drum section. Additionally, check out my Copy and Paste video. In that video, I show how to assign individual chops within the drum section. I hope that helps.

      @@OllieLoops Thank you! A download is exactly what I wanted for a drum kit. I agree with the other comments that its a little weird to make an entire video about grouping sounds and then provide non grouped samples, but you reaponded with the info about the download so no one can complain. I would have preferred to steal someone elses kit this way anyways as it has the proper settings and the sound isnt influenced by youtube or my PCs soundcard.

  • @distorson

    hm we should sample sounds played from the PO into the PO? Wouldn't it be much better if you would provide samples via a data file? Of course that would not work in a youtube video, but with a link.

    • @OllieLoops
      @OllieLoops  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There’s a meter on the record input that appears on the screen. Make sure you’re at about 75% by adjusting the volume on your source.

  • @F_letc.h
    @F_letc.h 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Doesn’t doing drums the way you’ve described here use up all of your polyphony when creating a song? How can you create a drum pattern with these groupings, and then also add bass, vocals, and a melody?

    • @OllieLoops
      @OllieLoops  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It works. Although I don’t know how complicated of a song you can make on the KO. Not sure you could add vocals if you wanted to. That would have to be via another device.

  • @jacobbenson2600
    @jacobbenson2600 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    hey thanks for the quality videos! quick question: when I plug my device in to the po-33 to record your drum samples, it only really captures about half the sounds-- the remainder are very quiet or inaudible entirely. What am I doing wrong?

    • @OllieLoops
      @OllieLoops  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Hmmm, that seems odd. I would recommend running some tests and see if its consistently happening with a variety of sounds. Also, try to test if it does it after so many seconds (ie, 2 seconds, then 4 seconds, then 6 seconds, etc). Try to narrow down the variables to see where the issue is. You may want to contact TE's tech support for more help. There could be something wrong with your device.

    • @GoldLionband
      @GoldLionband 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had the same issue. I've adjusted my computer's/phone's volume to the max, so that the po-33 hears every sample. Sometimes the original is just to quiet for it to hear

    Explain please, you're using only kicks on sound bank 13 all 16 steps? on bank 14 all only snares, 15 hihats 16 rims, claps, etc? Im getting soon PO-33 your suggestion seems really useful

    • @OllieLoops
      @OllieLoops  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It will likely make sense once you have the device. But, I'll try to elaborate.
      Each drum sound slot can hold (16) sounds, say of a drum kit. To program those sounds into the step sequencer, only one sound can be assigned to a step. Therefore, you can't have a hi hat and a snare on the same step from the same sound slot, for example. To get around this, you can build your drum sounds so that all of the kicks are in one drum sound slot, snares in the next, etc. Now you can program the step sequencer of each sound slot independent of the others which allows the sounds to be on the same step. Hope that helps.

    Can you please clarify somewhat what you mean at 3:00? What does the polyphony of other drum machines have to do with putting similar sounds grouped together on this tool?

    • @OllieLoops
      @OllieLoops  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      On the KO, if you use the drum sound slots as they were designed, they are monophonic. Only one sound can play per step in a sound slot. Say you sample a drum break with a kick, hi hat and snare. You can’t place a kick and hi hat on the same step. But, if you separate the sounds to other sound slots, you can play more than one sound at a time per step. If your kicks are on one sound slot and hi hats on another, now you can have them play at the same time. I hope that clarifies things.

    • @OllieLoops

      It is likely an issue with the dongle. If it happens to be non-apple, then it won’t work. Apple is strict about using only apple made accessories. I would look into the dongle and get it working first.

    I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but can I consult you on how my po-33 behaves?
    Right now, everything's working fine, but some samples either stopped playing or sped up when I started to introduce more and more new samples.
    No they are not on the same soundbank, so I don't think it's about the banks being monophonic. What is going with my PO-33 and are there any ways to get around it?
    Any form of advice would be appreciated!

    • @OllieLoops
      @OllieLoops  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thanks for your comment. I'll do my best to try to help. Is it possible that it has something to do with pitch adjustment of the samples? That's the only thing I can think of. Otherwise, I would say it doesn't sound like normal behavior and I would recommend reaching out to TE's tech support.

    Does it automatically map samples?

    • @OllieLoops
      @OllieLoops  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you paste a sample into the drum section, it will auto slice it into 16 equal parts. When you paste into the melodic section, it will automatically distribute it into the harmonic minor scale which repeats twice across 2 octaves among the 16 steps. I hope that helps.

  • @Twi66e

    I can’t seem to find a clear answer using google but I did a factory reset and now when I hold down sound and click 5-8 or 13-16 no stock sounds play?

    • @OllieLoops
      @OllieLoops  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey James, thanks for your comment and question. You’ve come to the right place. The simple answer is that there are no factory sounds on sound slots 5-8 & 13-16. Those slots are intentionally blank from the factory so you don’t have to overwrite the factory sounds. Hope that helps!

      Hey, thanks for your comment. And sorry if it was too fast.
      The concept is fairly straight forward. Keep similar sounds in the same sound slots, ie all kicks together on one slot, all snares on another, hi hats on another, etc. This allows you to filter and adjust parameters per sound slot. It also allows you to create polyphonic patterns on the KO.
      I hope that helps. Let me know if you if you have any further questions.
