good use of the hood fan will be borrowing the idea for my server rack when I can have a room just for the server

Nice yeah people were making fun of the idea until they saw how well it turned out LOL
Plus it was broken so it was getting thrown out anyways

Great solution. As a designer, I appreciate the clean and efficient layout. Shows the benefits of server cases vs open air rigs for thermal control. One day when I buy a house, I'll build something like this.

Thanks for the nice comment :) yeah if you are able to do it in a rack with server cases its more expensive but its done properly and you don't need to fight with heat control :) when you get a house send me a vid of you getting this all setup I love this stuff :)
Thanks again sub for more videos coming soon : )

By the way. Data centers design has elevated floors that supply the cold air so it flows up to the exhaust for most efficient cooling.

yeah I needed a "bit" of a click bait title ;) LOL but it's pretty good especially once I have the AC in there and all the head it just at the back of the rack going straight out :)

There are several youtube videos demonstrating how some enclosed open air rigs with foam boards, others simply used plastic sheets. Boxing in the rigs creates the flow through design like an octominer without converting. I build my own rigs with empty metal server cases from eBay.

Well done on the re-use of old tech! smart way to mange that heat for sure. Also that's a pretty cool sound wall you got there! :)

Thanks for the comment! Yeah I’m really happy with how it turned out pretty amazing how perfect it all fit! Now to get all the servers in the rack and let it ride baby!!! Haha
Thanks for the view and comment 🤗

yeah man... so I'm thinking I need a Jbod 4U for my Chia HDDs... but they are expensive as all hell.. I need a 26+ HDD container... ugh its never ending, but I may actually take my Chia offline its just pathetic 250TB doesnt get you much over electrical costs now

Great way to reuse a non working range hood. Will be interesting to see how the thermals end up this summer.

thanks yeah I'm really happy with how it turned out and so efficient!
Now I'm putting off building the rest of the rack :( I need to install new rails to accommodate the new servers and that's just a massive pain in the ass to take everything out and re-install as well install rails on the new servers... UGH never ends!

yeah those fans are intakes, they have been cooling the room all winter because its freezing in canada during the winter LOL within the next 2 months Ill need to switch to the AC unit instead of just blowing in cold air

Great idea! I need something similar but I'm building a 16 x 25 storage building and I'm going build a similar cooling solution and vent through the ceiling. Hopefully lumber and cement block prices will be better because prices tripled after President Biden won the election, lumber commodity prices prove this.

If you are building from scratch that’s amazing! I basically built this room from scratch and you can watch how I built it for sound and thermals in other build logs :)
That size is bigger than this room so you should be good, depending on how much equipment you are planning on putting in there

@@CustomComputing Thanks, I started with a $1500 budget then went crazy and spent $15k on mining equipment. I think one fourth the space will be for mining & storage for the rest plus I'll build a mezzanine to stack less used stuff out of the way. Your ideas will save me a ton of cash.

    • @CustomComputing

YUP its fine not going to explode across the room haha there is a drain and the rack is off the ground so not too worried ;)
