  • Live Professor 2 is a fantastic host for using audio plugins in live sound (and not being limited to one plugin maker). I'll show you options for getting it integrated into your console, problems to avoid, and how to make it easy to switch settings between songs, so you can tune vocals like a pro.

    A majority of what I do is high school choir concerts and dinner theater. We built up our productions over the 3 years I did it in high school, and now that I'm out, I have more time to plan and I actually purchased my own mixer (a Yamaha TF3, kind of an impulse buy and I wish I'd waited and got a StudioLive Series 3, but we make do). I've almost convinced the fine arts department head that it's time to purchase a new mixer, and God-willing he'll get the 64S (it's gotta be used for theatre and we're [again, God-willing] getting a new auditorium soon). Watching your videos has helped me grow my skill and always gets me hyped up to mix!

    This is awesome! Thanks for all your guidance. In working through setting it up I also discovered you can set up a MIDI cue to recall scenes. For us, that allowed us to create a midi note inside our presentation software (Proclaim) for each song and when we go to that song it automatically changes the key in Live Professor. One less thing for our audio guy to worry about!

    Also, could you send an output bus to LP2 (post fader) of your mix that goes to a Reverb/compressor chain in LP2 and then back out for a send to FOH? Would this not take care of latency? Especially, if you are running other thing such as a vocal tuner... you could set them to delay together... just a thought

    Went to the nerd zone this week and tried Live Professor today. Nice. Just on the bass channel and used Native Instruments Dirt plugin. Nice to see that it doesn't add much latency and I adjusted delay on the bass by 0.4ms on the x32. Really fills out the bass of the room and online. The main use of this would be vocal tuning. Not sure we will go there but maybe. I would like to try some Bus processing. User Patch points for out and in really make this seem as good as Waves outboard processing at a very reasonable cost. Those who have X32 or M32 and can't upgrade to a Wing, Avantis or Yamaha Rivage - this is one way to add some value to an aging X32. Now, training other volunteers on this? let's see how that goes.

    I have seen it in many live venues but don't know how to do that can you tell me please .

    RME Digiface Dante is another Option. The Roundtrip Latency is much shorter on Dante ready Hardware.

    Hi there. thanks for uploading this video. I have the STL3 16 mixer and I was looking for a plugin host to use for my plugins. I saw that Waves has SuperRack but at $600 US that is very pricey. This at $99 is pretty good. I haven't found any tutorials anywhere online that shows how to setup LP2 to a Presonus Mixer just Behringer mixers for some reason. Does anybody know where I can find more information on how to setup LP2 with a Presonus mixer? thanks in advance.

    Hi!! Totally awesome video!! One question, I want to send all the instruments (guitars, bass, keys, even an electronic drum) direct to an audio interface without any amp or effect, then in the laptop use STUDIO ONE and then in the software add all the plugins( for guitars and bass bias fx, and for drums superior drummer) as separate multitrack, after that that final sound return for the same audio interface and send that to a PA System and also use aux outputs for monitoring that final sound in a live performace. Is that possible to make with a "midas mr18" or "Focusrite Scarlett 18i20" without latency??? thanks! greetings from Peru!

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, you'll need more channels on the interface than that, and you'll get latency. The issue is, how much latency can you tolerate, and how many channels can you get on an interface.

    Great video, man! This is very helpful! I'm also using a StudioLive III and inserting LiveProfessor on individual channels works like a charm. I haven't found out how to do so when I'm also using the NSB StageBox though, have you stumbled across the same problem? Since I have to set the source of the channel to "Network" in that case, I can't return the signal from LiveProfessor to the same channel and have to use different return channels...

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's trickier. You have to use the computer as an AVB device, and then have the console look at the computer's AVB output. Of course this is just theoretical - I haven't done it.

    Thanks for this video. It was very helpful. I started with live plugins using LiveProfessor V1 many years ago. I switched to Waves Multirack sometime in 2016. It has served me well for five years now, but I just recently reupped my Waves plugins plan and went from v9 to v12. Found that Multirack only supports up to v10. If I want to use the new Renaissance GUIs (v11) or the (very nice) high DPI versions of the SSL plug ins (v12), then I'd have to spend another $600 to get Waves Superrack just to be able to use the latest version of the plug ins that I just paid for all over again.. That is ridiculous. I started looking into LiveProfessor again, played with the current version demo a bit today, but wanted to get up to speed on the very different interface and features. Found your video and am seriously considering purchasing the current LiveProfessor version. Thanks again for the great and helpful content.

    Can I use Live Professor for live stream audio? We use Reaper with Waves plug-ins currently, but we occasionally have issues with it pushing our PC too hard.
    We don’t use the DAW to record at all, so recording functionality isn’t needed. I’m just looking for the best way to add plugins to our live stream tracks while taxing our PC as little as possible.
    Will Live Professor be lighter to use than Reaper in this case?

  • @tigeraudio
    @tigeraudio 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The only time you need latency compensation is if 1 source is going multiple paths and then summing back together. Drums are a good example. A lot of engineers make a very squashed drum group and sum back with the uncompressed group, which is just a fancy ration control, and those need to be compensated for sure. The guitar on stage left does not need to latency match the bass on stage right.

    Great video! 2:03 I think it would be better to clarify that those 4-10ms are ONLY for Dante Virtual Soundcard specifically. If you use a PCIE card or similar Dante hardware interface than you get the fastest latency with no tax on the CPU for Dante. 3:37 Also, most churches don’t have the channel count to replicate channels for a panic situation. But it’s still a creative way to fail over.

    Still prefer multitrack from waves, LP2 is good if you have same people singing for the whole service. Don't know why LP2 does not have a quick way to change chain, is way to slow to load from file, also drops out, when waves can change a chain in a click without interruption. Other than that, PL2 is better than waves.

    • @AttawayAudio

    Hi, I founded your video because i was sesrching a way to have One external synth route to ableton, so i can use vst plugins to effect my synth in real time. How i can do t'hat? I own a behringer x32 producer. Thank you a lot for any kind of help.

    Does anyone know the latency just using a usb cable directly to computer with no interface? Say a Macbook Pro?
