this project is sooooo cool - the best entry i could think of for starting to tinker with Linux on the server side, been using it on desktop for a while now :) Thanks a lot for the content!
Awesome guides! My server is running like a charm thanks to you. I'm struggling with finding an install guide for the ARAC - All Race All Classes module though. Any interest in taking a look at that?
@@rushdavoncort5163 I don't recall being on Laughing Skull, but I did see several copycats of me after I changed my name to Painbow around 2006 or 2007. awsome instructions ....would you teach us how to install sql files using putty.... i like to increase the stack size for stackable items but i dont know how to phrase the search for instruction to find the solution SQL script to change all stackables to 200 or more.
This looks a lot more easier to do on Linux then windows. I've followed the guide to azerothcore thoroughly in terms of building my own server but i can't seem to generate the world server and auth server.
Hi! Sorry for the potentially stupid question, it's hard to listen to audio whilst at work so I haven't been able to fully listen along. Would it be possible to have friends playing alongside you and the bots, or is this a strictly single-player experience?
Of course you can. I mention it in part 1 and it's in the installation txt file I link on every video. You have to do a couple extra steps. Search "#TO ALLOW FRIENDS TO CONNECT!" in the txt file. 1. You need to "update realmlist set address" to your external/public IP. 2. Open 2 ports on your router with port forwarding. Every router is different - that's why I didn't include it in the video.
Anyone that can help me out? Whenever I try to clone via the command, I get this error : 'Could not resolve host:github'. I've seen people mention it might have to do with my proxy but I have no idea how to resolve it.
I believe that is called clustering and it exists in an operating system called "Proxmox" which is what I use to run my Azerothcore server (in an Ubuntu VM), but I have not heard of clustering Azerothcore servers. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's possible considering that you really can do anything with Linux and open source software. I know there is software for Linux called "rsync" which automatically syncs two servers up, but as far as someone actually doing it, I have not heard.
Oh nooooo! I broke it! haha! I get this when trying to run the server "Script named 'gobject_challenge_modes' is not assigned in the database." I tried installing a challenge module on my server.

nevermind! I figured it out! (of course still with your help, the ARAC part of your guide inspired me) I had to run an sql in the module (leaving this here in case someone needs the path: ~/azerothcore-wotlk/modules/mod-challenge-modes/data/sql/db-world/base/challenge_mode_gobject.sql) It now runs!!! Install SQL files? I don't even know what that means I'm new to all this stuff too
Hey, I wanted to ask if it is possible to change your own spells or install new ones?
PS : your are a GREAT help !!
Almost anything is possible with this. Do I know all the possibilities? No, but it's almost endless. No joke.
Hi nirv, thanks for these guides. I got mine working! I was wondering how you gave yourself the invincible mount? How does one do that?
.lookup item invincible
.additem ITEMID OR ITEM LINK
need to be GM to type those commands in game and be targeting nobody.

Follow his guide using Linux. It took me a little over 1.5 hours but it was worth it. Easy to start and stop now anytime I like.

Update: this is a problem on Github's end. case closed!
Is there a way for a server to exist on two different IPs? So like if power goes out at one place, the other place picks up the slack?

You can almost definitely run the database in a cluster but probably not the game server.
would love new videos

doh says permission denied dont know what im doing wrong here
everytime I compile a module it takes for ever compiling mod-playerbots/src/stategy/.....
use the new build alias in my txt file. search build, find the alias line and add it to your bashrc.
then just type build instead of compile
