I’m trying to learn upwind in the sea ( I got it on a flat lake ) and what I’m finding is I lose speed when edging up wind so I’m constantly diving the kite and going down wind a bit in order to pick up speed and the cycle continues … I end up 500 metres from my starting pint within 10 mins . The sea has a powerful tide in the same direction as wind so it’s extra hardcore

Any tips for beginner in higher winds with 7m kite...... Can water start and ride both ways on 10mtr. Struggle with fast response of 7mtr in higher winds.

Hi Jonny! Yes I think I have the perfect tip for you. For smaller kites put your hands much closer together on the bar. That way you have less leverage so the kite is slower and and more stable. Easy!

Thanks Tom, good tip. Think I've been switching from 10mtr, onto 7mtr, but using same power as using 10mtr when maouvering 7mtr...too aggressive, too exaggerated...as a result the 7mtr flies like an angry wasp! Need to make gentle/subtle inputs to controls.
