N.D. had a great run and can only help them in the future
So Alabama fans like Matt need to get used to something. Alabama does not have some sort of massive innate advantage over the rest of college football. You had arguably the greatest coach of all time who absolutely dominated the game. That's not a normal experience. You're not getting back to that level of dominance anytime soon, and maybe never again. Which is fine. 6 National Championships in 11 years is crazy. But it has completely distorted your perception of success. I'm just waiting for Alabama to fire DeBoer next year and complete its transformation into Auburn.
They have nothing to show for it? Didn't they earn $20 million from the CFP for advancing through the playoffs? Since they are not in a conference and don't have to share it with any other universities, they hit the jackpot!!
You can't have it both ways... Either playoff wins matter or they dont... I like the overwhelming majority thinks thats playoff games do matter... Weird.... Edit: ahh yes .. the whole "notre dame and Purdue accomplished the same thing this year".... Absolutely amazing....
Why does everyone who brings that up conveniently forget all the other teams also get a share of the bowl money of every other team in their conference? And that if Notre Dame misses the playoffs they get nothing? If being an independent was such a massive advantage then Ohio State and Michigan and Alabama and a lot of other teams would also go independent. By the way, all of Notre Dame's playoff money, and all their NBC money, and all the money they get from their ACC deal still adds up to less than what each and every SEC and Big10 team brings home in TV revenue alone.
They’re scared of playing better competition and embarrassment in a conference title game. They will not win a natty until their recruiting gets better and that won’t happen until the academic standards at their poverty university get lower so there’s absolutely no restrictions on who they can recruit. It doesn’t matter who is the coach that’s how it will be. Crying Irish fans stop blaming coaches for leaving ND for better places and for falling short. Blame and be angry at whoever runs that university for having high academic standards when it’s not necessary.
I’m not a very smart man. However, I believe that the fact that we are even having the conversation, about the relevance of ND in college football, speaks for itself. 🍀 Thanks Matt, love the channel. Oh, one more thing. Can you define what relevance is exactly? Thanks again!
Yes, they can. No one but Notre Dame made it to the National Championship game with Ohio State. 11 others made it to the playoff, which is a huge accomplishment itself. ND made it through the playoff to the big game. That is everything to be proud of. That is NOT a so-called "moral victory." It's a fact.
Unbelievably bad take. To think that only one team accomplished anything all year is asinine. Being a CFB fan would be miserable if that were true. ND is one of the all-time great programs, and Freeman has turned this program around. This is the last video of his I'll watch. Go Irish. ☘️
It is unfortunate that people like this are given a voice in the cfb sphere. He has been completely blinded by Alabama winning 7 championships acting like this is the norm. Many coaches have been heralded at all time greats with only 1 championships under their belt. He is talking about ND back in 2020 and 2018. Typical Alabama fan stuck in the past now that their current squad is so much worse than Alabama. Honestly it just sounds like cope now that bama is more irrelevant than notre dame was WITH Brian Kelly. The game was 31-23 with 3rd and 11 with OSU possession. Any actual ball knower would say this was a close game for that period. Saying that notre dame is irrelevant because they had bad losses is ridiculous as he PURPOSELY ignored the great wins they had. But at the end of the day that’s what blatant haters do. You are the exact people that ruin ball, you think that just because you’re not the best team in the entire nation you’re complete frauds and deserved to be flamed. How about Oregon? Or Texas? Or Georgia? You could literally apply this to ANY OTHER TEAM other than OSU. But at the end of the day, Alabama is more irrelevant than notre dame right now so KEEP coping LIL BRO MATT
Lil bro Matt needs to put his big boy pants on and look at the facts. Bama won't win anything another chip for 3 years or more now it's his turn to cope. Bye bye Bama🤓🍀
No, they are NOT irrelevant. They have a good QB coming up and are returning most of their production. Also have a top 12 recruiting class. They need to put it together soon enough though…
Dude I’m telling you now Steve angli is the real deal I’ve been memeing that he’s gonna be amazing but I deadass think he will be amazing write it down now Steve angli will lead the fighting Irish to the 2026 natty
Get comfortable there or worse. 2010 to 2021 is no different than 2022 to the present. As long as your school has high academic standards top 10 consistent recruiting will not happen and as a result will always fall short of the natty. No matter who is the coach.
I agree that Notre Dame may be in the second tier of teams behind Georgia, Bama, LSU, OSU, Clemson and Michigan. However, no more irrelevant than Penn State, Texas, Oklahoma, Miami, FSU, UF, Tenn, USC and Oregon.
This totally makes Matt's point cause I didn't even know they made a single college football playoffs and what makes it worse is I still barely can believe him with proof in the screen that notre dame made the playoffs. 😂😂
The guy who talked about hypothetical wins all year now says playoff wins dont matter... And if you dont agree your a casual... Im not sure how this channel is growing....
@MattbeGreat: As a Nebraska fan. When Nebraska was Nebraska yes it sucked going undefeated then losing in the orange bowl game for 10 years in a row really really sucked. Watching my team Nebraska CornHiskers just imploded on the field really hurt. But I look back at those losses now and yeah it's really bad when you aren't even a mid team now. I know there is a ton of people out here that never ever wants to see Nebraska back where they should be. But I miss those day's. Also dought we will ever see a clear back to back to back undefeated team winning the National title ever again. With all the rule changes and team roster spots being dropped down. It's going to be very very hard to do.
Serious question then Matt, how many teams do you consider relevant if ND is not? Would you include Ole Miss or Tennessee? If so, i think ND has a solid argument to say they’ve had a more successful last decade than either of Ole Miss or Tennessee
What he doesn't realize is that there are only a few teams that have been relevant, so why does he hate on ND. And he still does it, but his team has taken a downward spiral. But at least he can make himself feel better, yk.

@mattbedelusional this whole Norte dame not winning a championship so they are equal to the team like Purdue might be the worst take you have ever made
MattBeBased. As for Notre Dame though, second best team has a decent chance of being the best next year. This year they were legit good and transfer portal makes them likely to be better in the future.
"They ran into a buzzsaw...". Interesting. With four minutes left, ND was down 8 and had forced OSU into a 3rd and 11 from practically their own goal. Not sure that counts as running into a buzzsaw; especially when ND fights back from a 24 point deficit. Oh, and the team was injured up and down both lines. All things considered, ND is in great shape moving forward. And for the irrelevancy argument - how about this? Is Georgia irrelevant? Clemson? LSU? Michigan? Texas? USC? I ask because they had some long title droughts too. Georgia (38 years). Clemson (35 years). LSU (45 years). Michigan (49 years). Texas (35 years). USC (25 years). How about Oregon - they've never one a national championship. Irrelevant? No. These things happen. Only one team can win it all each year. ND made it far this year and now has the right head coach, the right culture, and a whole lot of optimism for the future.
MattBeHanginWithMarty, it's good that you make your videos so that you don't just talk to yourself. What do your eighth grade buddies think about you looking like ET the extraterrestrial?
Matt… I have coached all 4 of my sons in football and baseball we won 3 state championships… I coached and taught all my kids that .. second place is the FIRST loser listed … you have the champs and then ALL the losers.. funny thing, I watched my sons coach and 5 other kids I coached and they all coach the same way i tough them … makes me proud
Shiii….the game went the way I thought it would. If ND would have stayed with what worked on the first drive they stood a chance because Day would have ran the ball more to prove his team is tougher.
I think it worked out well this season. Maybe put Texas where notre dame was but idk. I thought after that first games the Vols were trash and just got lucky, but once Ohio state walked away with it I felt better about the playoff system. Honestly 15 teams #1 gets a bye and run it. No other fancy pancy stuff. Heck if you make it to the playoffs just get out of the conference Championship or if both teams are in then just let that game decide who gets the better seat between the two. As we’ve seen one week to the next can be a huge swing and if you play 4 games to win then I feel like you’ve done a pretty good job at getting the actual best teams in and not just some team that got hot for a game
@@onetwo6039 yes it'd be nice if everybody was healthy. But Ohio State lost in a national championship when Roby their first or second round NFL draft pick was out for the game. It happens and stinks. The lions lost their all pro defensive end and that hurt them.
Merle, my guy, you do understand that you don't actually get to decide what is and is not relevant for other people, right? In addition to that, you do understand that 'If you don't win a national championship, your season has no meaning' is nothing more and nothing less than your subjective opinion, yeah? It really doesn't seem like it. You can think that, believe that, if you like. At the same time, Notre Dame fans are free to adopt a position like 'We didn't get the ending we wanted. We wanted more. We came to win a championship, and we're not satisfied leaving without it. But I am proud of this team. They worked hard. They accomplished a lot, and that's what we're going to build on.' if they choose. When a team goes through a season together, just like any journey taken by anyone, there are some things that can be, but not everything can be retroactively erased or stripped of whatever meaning it held just because that journey didn't end where you intended it to. The players decide what means what, and how much. So do the coaches, and so do the fans. They get to decide what they take away from it.
I have been a Irish fan for 55 years. I have been Bama hater for 52 years. After we beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl for the National Champion in 1973 my 11 year old ass thought, I hate those guys, losers. We had a great year, I got to watch 3 more games than a Bama fan. I herd plenty of Bama fans crying after not being selected to the tourney. Would, shoulda, coulda. To back up your mouth all you had to do was beat a below average Michigan team for people to say maybe Bama should have made it to the show. That did not turn out to well. Until next year I am good with saying my team is number 2. That's better than driven around in a pick up truck with a 17 year old hottie yelling were number 17. Wow, this video really is terrible. Lost all credibility. Don't even care to know what goes on in that head of yours. I don't even like ND and even I can say they are not the same team and are here to stay. Freeman WILL win a national championship.
They are the same team. They still can’t recruit in the top 10 consistently only like once every 4 or 5 years they’ll luckily get a #9 or #10 class. As a result they won’t have a national title winning roster. Freeman looks very over his head when it matters most. Lost to 2 Group of 5 schools in a 3 year span at home being heavily favored. No matter who is the coach there same results bc there’s too much recruiting restrictions due to high academic standards there. Brian Kelly Marcus Freeman doesn’t matter same results. ND fans should be happy that overall Freeman was not a significant downgrade from Kelly before worrying about competing for national titles on a consistent basis not just making it there every 12 years or so bc sometimes it looks like it’s a bit of a downgrade especially those G5 losses bc Kelly never lost to those teams ever. Plus 1 of the best defensive minds their DC Al Golden just jumped ship. It’ll be a step back for em next year.

But it has completely distorted your perception of success. I'm just waiting for Alabama to fire DeBoer next year and complete its transformation into Auburn.
@@candirux very well said. Couldn’t have said it any better myself.
Notre Dame gets to keep all that cash to themselves. Its on the Big Ten and SEC to unite against ND to force them into a conference.
Uniquely unAmerican perspective. This is college football. Force into a conference . . . 🤦🏽♂️
Haha not gonna happen
ND gets the money this year. SEC and Big 10 get it every year. 🎉🎉🎉
I’m not a very smart man. However, I believe that the fact that we are even having the conversation, about the relevance of ND in college football, speaks for itself. 🍀
Thanks Matt, love the channel.
Oh, one more thing.
Can you define what relevance is exactly? Thanks again!
the thing is none had them in the title game after losing to northern illinois they deserve respect for what they accomplished
Notre Dame is going to thrive in the Portal era. And Alabama is likely to struggle for awhile especially in the post-Saban world.
😂 #2 recruiting class in the nation is struggling to casuals😂Roll Tide 🐘🐘🏈🏆
Yes, they can. No one but Notre Dame made it to the National Championship game with Ohio State. 11 others made it to the playoff, which is a huge accomplishment itself. ND made it through the playoff to the big game. That is everything to be proud of. That is NOT a so-called "moral victory." It's a fact.
Unbelievably bad take. To think that only one team accomplished anything all year is asinine. Being a CFB fan would be miserable if that were true.
ND is one of the all-time great programs, and Freeman has turned this program around.
This is the last video of his I'll watch. Go Irish. ☘️
Yeah you guys had a great year. Matt with the stupid you’re not first your last take doesn’t change that.
Also they have 2 ny6’s to show for it
100% right!
Lil bro Matt needs to put his big boy pants on and look at the facts. Bama won't win anything another chip for 3 years or more now it's his turn to cope. Bye bye Bama🤓🍀
Bro is definitely spoiled and has rose tinted glasses being a bama fan
Matt, this video was abysmal, please consider quitting content creation if you can’t look at things objectively.
- TurfTalk
No, they are NOT irrelevant. They have a good QB coming up and are returning most of their production. Also have a top 12 recruiting class. They need to put it together soon enough though…
Dude I’m telling you now Steve angli is the real deal I’ve been memeing that he’s gonna be amazing but I deadass think he will be amazing write it down now Steve angli will lead the fighting Irish to the 2026 natty
As a Notre Dame fan, I've been infuriated byND fans being so comfortable with second place.
Get comfortable there or worse. 2010 to 2021 is no different than 2022 to the present. As long as your school has high academic standards top 10 consistent recruiting will not happen and as a result will always fall short of the natty. No matter who is the coach.
@savagetigerfbfan6673 yeah as long as we play school we'll always be second rate
Dat mula was a win. They can buy plenty but those academic standards may be an obstacle
I been saying that ever since 2022. Those delusional crying Irish still don’t learn.
Thank you MattbeLookingCute
ND actually impressed me this year and that's something I haven't said in decades.
They will do just fine going forward.
Feel better Matt ! Get it all out of your system about Notre Dame. They are irrelevant remember?
I agree that Notre Dame may be in the second tier of teams behind Georgia, Bama, LSU, OSU, Clemson and Michigan.
However, no more irrelevant than Penn State, Texas, Oklahoma, Miami, FSU, UF, Tenn, USC and Oregon.
Notre Dame is one of two teams ever to win multiple NY6 bowls in the same year. They also dominated the SEC champ in the second half
10:05 you forget about bama vandy?
This totally makes Matt's point cause I didn't even know they made a single college football playoffs and what makes it worse is I still barely can believe him with proof in the screen that notre dame made the playoffs. 😂😂
Marcus Freeman lost the game
How many years until a team becomes irrelevant Matty. Just want you to put it on paper?
It’s funny watching matt say he isn’t bias and then watching him make a video like this. If Alabama had that run he’d be applauding😭
The guy who talked about hypothetical wins all year now says playoff wins dont matter... And if you dont agree your a casual... Im not sure how this channel is growing....
Because he doesn't use fact's he goes by feelings... Shit they all do.. Meaning the sec.
MattBeLGBBQ+
MattBePeeingSittingDown, sorry that you're still under the weather. Could the Diddy Oil be making you sick?
Still living off of Knute Rockne, Ara Parseghian, Rudy and Lou Holtz.
And y'all still hanging on to the 3 good teams you have 4 on a good year.
At this point Matt might as well not even watch the games anymore... Playoff wins matter less than the hypothetical wins.... That absolutely insane.
They only matter if they win...lol
He's been caught not watching games before
Serious question then Matt, how many teams do you consider relevant if ND is not? Would you include Ole Miss or Tennessee? If so, i think ND has a solid argument to say they’ve had a more successful last decade than either of Ole Miss or Tennessee
What he doesn't realize is that there are only a few teams that have been relevant, so why does he hate on ND. And he still does it, but his team has taken a downward spiral. But at least he can make himself feel better, yk.
Dude pull up ND the stats your reaching. Your going by your feelings and not fact's your a Pro sec guy and I understand that. So let's pull up the facts.. The same excuses you give the sec your not doing the IRISH... FUCK a moral game no one said that shit but you... Let use facts my boy..
Still mad it farther in the playoff than any sec team!!!!. And beat the sec champs. And before you try to use the old but they had a backup qb excuse... so what ND had 7 defensive starters that didn't play in that game
@mattbedelusional this whole Norte dame not winning a championship so they are equal to the team like Purdue might be the worst take you have ever made
Hope you're feeling better Matt
MattBeBased.
As for Notre Dame though, second best team has a decent chance of being the best next year. This year they were legit good and transfer portal makes them likely to be better in the future.
You might wanna check your house before talking about how ND did nothing.
"Not our community"?? MattBeIntheCloset
MattBeHanginWithMarty, it's good that you make your videos so that you don't just talk to yourself. What do your eighth grade buddies think about you looking like ET the extraterrestrial?
I really think Notre Dame would’ve lost that game of Carson Beck was there
They finished ahead of every SEC team and they got 20mil for next season. With NIL they will be relevant for a very long time.
Matt how much snow yall get cuz ik la, fl, al, ms all got some snow also love the vids
Notre Dame would have won if there were 5 quarters in a game.
the bot comments are out of control
They had a great year. They got to the Championship Game. And gave OSU a challenge.
MattBeRickyBobby If you ain't first, you're last.
Notre dame isn’t irrelevant but it sure would help if they played actual teams
O wouldn't say they have absolutely NOTHING to show for it. They won 3 bowl games
I like to believe that us Notre Dame fans are just as critical of our team when they are playing poorly as everybody else is.
Matt… I have coached all 4 of my sons in football and baseball we won 3 state championships…
I coached and taught all my kids that .. second place is the FIRST loser listed … you have the champs and then ALL the losers..
funny thing, I watched my sons coach and 5 other kids I coached and they all coach the same way i tough them … makes me proud
Shiii….the game went the way I thought it would. If ND would have stayed with what worked on the first drive they stood a chance because Day would have ran the ball more to prove his team is tougher.
Matt you are wrong with the take that if you are not first you are last
I think it worked out well this season.
Curious what you think... If there were a playoff bracket like this in the past (BCS era mostly), how many National Champions would be different?
Ben Morrison would have punked J. Smith. He wouldn't have gotten beat.
keep crying
@@onetwo6039 yes it'd be nice if everybody was healthy. But Ohio State lost in a national championship when Roby their first or second round NFL draft pick was out for the game. It happens and stinks. The lions lost their all pro defensive end and that hurt them.
We need a podcast on Spotify
Notre Dame is the Dallas Cowboys of college football.
Matt with Big Bro Ohio State winning that Natty it's time for you to start referring to Alabama as Lil Bama 😂
To say Notre Dame is irrelevant after beating 3 top ten teams on their way lose by 11 in the natty is a horrendous take😂😂
Huh ? He won the orange bowl and sugar bowl . Before that it’s been about 30 years
Merle, my guy, you do understand that you don't actually get to decide what is and is not relevant for other people, right?
They are not irrelevant at all…they pocketed 20
Million for NIL for just appearing in the chip too…they should use that money to reload
Just because she is your second cousin does not make it right, Roll Over Tide.
Matt's hairline is...............GONE.
Bro you’re just another ND hater.
You probably only started watching football when bama got good.
Matt's mommy was still shoving a binky in his mouth when Northern Illinois beat Alabama 😂
Matt, you Don't have any Notre Dame Fans!!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Its time for ND to start lowering those academic standards if they truly hope to win Natties in this era of college football.
All that money ND got is a W for the future of the program
💗✨real college football fans are you here!!!✨💗
👇
Matt’s just talking like this to spur the algorithm. He’s lying to us and himself if he thinks this is the same ol’ Notre Dame. In fact I’d say the future for Notre Dame is brighter than it’s been in decades, I’m saying this as a Miami fan. In fact I’d go so far to say Notre Dame’s future is brighter than Alabama’s at this juncture.
Wow, this video really is terrible. Lost all credibility. Don't even care to know what goes on in that head of yours. I don't even like ND and even I can say they are not the same team and are here to stay. Freeman WILL win a national championship.
No he won’t lol OSU Georgia Texas all have better rosters and let’s not forget Alabama + Oregon and Miami? Notre dame stands no chance
@Sjsjssjjsjsj-wjdkyk, you're stupid, lol. I wish there was a way to make you sound smarter 🤓
@savagetigerfbfan6673 yk what's ridiculous about what you just said. Michigan has had the same issue. They won last year. Doesn't take a top 5 recruiting class to win. We just need a top 10. That's how good ND will be. Plus whatever we lack there's always the transfer portal. You guys are delusional
@@savagetigerfbfan6673 Judkins was a 3 star prospect that was choosing between Ole Miss and ND. Let that sink in on how class ranking doesn't mean a whole lot
Notre dame has a few bowl wins. But that doesn’t matter for a team of their caliber
They got 20 mil to themselves so it’s looking good
Notre dame could have easily won that, they were missing 7 starters and should have had that field goal.
Just the Facts MattBeleftouttaPlayoffshatinonSnow, ND had that hack Ryan Day crapping his shorts until the 35 year old Kansas State QB bailed him out with a Hail Mary on a double move 😮
I agree. Only one team season mattered, Ohio State University.
They won everyone else lost.
Bros the number one Notre Dame hater!
