HUGE UPDATE!! 1.21.2 is set to fix the stars!! Both the rotations and vertex changes from 1.21 were actually corrected in 24w33a, meaning 202 & 365 will be officially reunited next update! Perhaps true love is real after all...
I believe in my heart that it already exists out there somewhere... Years ago, I read a ridiculously long and very detailed (and well written!) fanfic that took place in the world of Tetris and the characters were all tetrominos. It has stuck in my memory for nearly 2 decades now and has taught me that writers can and WILL pour their passion into anything. Gloriously unhinged
i love how us as the audience are just supposed to accept the fact that somehow every single star has its own unique number, like someone counted them all and sequentialized them or something i think what makes it even better for me is that there is zero explanation given lol
Well I think it's just the index of that star in the code, since their placements seem rather random and not like a set texture. Each star has it's own properties, the position and rotation.
Also the position of the stars doesn’t seem to correlate with their index number. And if they’re placed randomly, why are they the same every time? If they’re going to be the same, why make it random and if you’re going to make it random, why not make it different for each world?
@@wheedler " the position of the stars doesn’t seem to correlate with their index number" - and they don't need to, it is very easy to write a function to return a random position to N, even easier when the position indexes are circular (such as the sky, which is in fact circular) They are placed randomly, this does not mean that the randomness changes. It will only change if the function or parameter changes. They make it random so they don't need to write a position for every star. Also, programmed randomness usually looks better, there are some very natural looking algorithms for that. "if you’re going to make it random, why not make it different for each world?" - great question. If this was the case, it may be that some worlds would get some bizarre star formation, such as clusters or big empty spaces. Which actually could be prevented, but I think the devs are just not feeling it.

This seems like the kind of thing that is SO MINUSCULE and unlikely to have ever been thought about or noticed by anybody, that I feel like I must be quite lucky and honored to know that I got to live in the one universe where somebody in this world got interested enough in this to not only take notice of it within my small lifetime in this universe, but even to publicly document it for me and everyone else to be able to know about it. This video has touched my emotions in a sentimental way. I feel like I just got to witness something astronomically rare and special early that would have otherwise only happened after another like half a trillion years of people playing Minecraft without realizing about these stars.
