    DC is full of great neighborhoods. I would add CLEVELAND PARK to the list. It has a subway station, is a short walk to the zoo, is full of older residents (which is nice), is very safe and has a fantastic public library branch.

      Thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, you are right. Cleveland Park is a great neighborhood. I was torn between Cleveland Park and Mt Pleasant, and it was very hard to choose. It did make my last list of top ten neighborhoods, but this one I wanted to make sure to add more variety from all over DC. I wonder if people would like a top 20 list...

    That old story about Metro being kept out of Georgetown because of snobby residents has been dubunked over and over. The reason we have no Metro here is because there is no way to get under the river from Georgetown without a deep, deep station. Think about it: M Street is close to the river but is a hundred feet above it. To stay 50' below the river bottom, the shaft for the station would have to be 250' deep! It can't be done engineering wise

    I love this recap - my brother lives in the DMV and I’m considering relocating from the SF Bay Area. I’m concerned about transit options s because I don’t want a car. What is the best rental option near a Metro station?

    • @JulieGrandonRealEstate
      @JulieGrandonRealEstate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! Penn Quarter/Gallery Pl is probably going to be the least expensive close to downtown with a lot of activity and things to do. Columbia Heights is also reasonable and active. If you want to be by a metro and spend the least for a good area, you can look around Huntington metro station. I don't know apartment buildings in particular, but can help you if you want to find a condo or townhome to rent.

    • @JulieGrandonRealEstate

      Palisades is great! It's on the quiet side for being in DC. The home prices haven't quite reached as high as other parts of NW DC. I can't really say the same for the surrounding neighborhoods, like Georgetown and Wesley Heights, you'd be looking at spending top dollar. Georgetown is much more urban with much more to do, but Palisades has a lot to do as well. It's a great choice.

      A quiet neighborhood, mostly white like the majority of neighborhoods in this list. Not much to do, limited public transit, nearby hospital. almost in Maryland.

      I think Ft Lincoln is fine, but maybe not what a lot of people expect when it comes to DC. It's very close to all the retail you'll need (Costco, Lowes, food) in that shopping center, and it has great access to Rt 50 and 295 if you work outside DC to the east, northeast, or south. Lots of recreational park space nearby too. The only downside may not be a downside for everyone- but it's not really walkable to anything interesting. No local bars, breweries, nightlife, theaters, etc. No metro nearby. Because of New York Ave, Bladensburg Rd, the cemetery, and industrial spots it feels disconnected from the rest of DC and MD in a way even more suburban parts of DC don't. That being said, it is probably a great value for families or those that prefer quieter neighborhoods.

    whoever did this don't know anything about the D.C area because those neighbors where battle grounds way before the crack came into D.C. way back in the 60 and 70's if you going write about it learn the history I grew up off of N.E off of Benning Rd you Rosedale, Langston terr / Md Ave/Gale street

      and those were rough neighbors also not to far from RFK stadium

    • @JulieGrandonRealEstate
      @JulieGrandonRealEstate  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching, and your differing perspective! That area was really rough, and I don't know if it's changed much. I think you're speaking about Capitol Hill, since that is the only one in this video near RFK. And thank you for bringing it up, it's certainly worth discussing since I featured it as #1.
      I grew up going to Eastern Market, the last part of Cap Hill to regularly in the 80s, my dad worked there and I went with him often. I also worked and metro'ed there daily in '96 as a 15/16 yo. My family told me to not look anywhere but straight ahead when I walked the few blocks from my work down Pennsylvania Ave to the metro station, and not to stop (that was to keep me safe😆. It is amazing how much that area has changed. Even Kingman Park is in the middle of a drastic change and that's right next to the now defunct RFK & Stadium Armory complex, which is now soon to be rebuilt on a massive scale.
      I often get comments that I include too much NW DC, but it's hard not to with the job opportunities and all the A rated schools being there. My videos are about the current aspects of neighborhoods, since my focus is real estate, and what it is like to live there now. I think it would be distracting to talk about the past too much. I certainly know my DC history, I was born there, and I can totally see where you're coming from as well.
