    My favorite videos are the cutting clips. I see a lot of artistic jewelry possibilities, and every time I see really pretty seam or narrow specimens, I think they would make great dangle earrings. Thin slices on silver hooks, would be out in the sun sometimes, would be seen and admired. Good energy.

    What type of saw do you used to cut your stones in half?

    • @MontanaRockMom
      @MontanaRockMom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have just been using a wet tile saw with a diamond blade on it... I am going to purchase a better slab saw shortly, I am trying to research the perfect one for me....

    • @todddaugherty110
      @todddaugherty110 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MontanaRockMom With a good slab saw you will get less pronounced saw marks making polishing that much easier. A quality vise/clamp helps as well. Many years ago I got some rock holders that are the best I have ever seen. Made of three metal arms joined at a bolt where you tighten the nut on the bolt and the arms clamp down on the rock. Then you put this is your vise. I got them on eBay and have looked all over and the original maker doesn't seem to be around. There is a North Carolina rock shop that have taken the idea and made knock-offs, but they don't looks as good and are way too expensive. They are at www.spiritrockshop.com and the three sizes are called "Lapidary Rock Holder".

      @@MontanaRockMom Fantastic choice. I have a 24" Covington, a 14" Lortone, a 10" Drop Saw and a Whatever Brand 6" trim saw. I do nothing but cut/polish any longer as health and age concerns prevent me from collecting. I miss collecting terribly but have enough material on hand for at least a couple of lifetimes.
