I’m a huge Barca fan and this is RIDICULOUS. How can you beg him to stay all season and now sack him when he makes an honest comment. So embarrassing from Laporta.
They wanted to go for the power move and sack him themselves. And I think their favourite managerial target has become available, whoever he is.

Ah that's the diplomacy you've to keep when you're part of big group like Barca or anything other big company. You don't make public statements like the company is sinking but you've to contain whatever issue you're facing and solve it internally. World doesn't need to know what's going inside unless it's a crime like drug trafficking or human trafficking. Here Laporta is trying to maintain a sinking ship. But Xavi needs to be realistic european domination is off the cards for next 1-2years. See the team isn't mature right now. You've got players who aren't demotivated if the coach goes on saying the clubs broke and you're being delivered fake promises. That's compromising the board and coach trust. Something similar was done by CR7 for man utd now look where they're now. Xavi needs to understand what the board expects from him. I wasn't impressed why he couldn't use oriol romeu much. Look at Ancelotti on other hand he didn't want joselu but Ancelotti can adapt according to what his team can offer. This is why i said Barca should look for another coach Xavi role is done he carried them through a tougher phase. Now another coach needs to take over ,someone who can instill a champion's mindset into the squad.
Barca could broadcast this soap opera of a season and make an extra buck to buy players

I’d say you’re a fool if you think this is just about the press conference. Every Barca fan knows the truth about our finances already. There’s more to it than just what Xavi said, especially since Barca fans has been whistling during games and also a vote of no confidence in the direction of the club from the board. So Laporta is under pressure too
He has gotten every player he asked for. He even asked Dembele to stay so we can later on lose him for free to PSG and then knock us out of the UCL.

I have been a Barcelona fan since the late 90s and I know Exactly what's wrong with the club it's called "prejudice," from the baord to the press to the fans in Barcelona . If anyone is a barça fan will know for sure that we have the worst press in the world , we have 2 newspapers that want to write news everyday which turns to be 99% rumors and affects the club internally, the board are prejudice for the Barcelona way and not flexible, we have missed countless talents just because of the horshit of " Barça DNA" and keeping Xavi and not going for Flick or Tuchel that will bring decipline and experience is a prime example , also too many average players staying at the club forever just because they are catalan from la masia or were a board signing , Sergio Roberto is a prime example, imagine RM are about to sign Mbappe and the club has just announced they are renewing for Roberto for another year, and finally no leadership and wisdom in the decision making by Laporta , we have great great talent in the team but we have average players as well, every Barcelona fan knows where the weakness is , you talk about finances , sell Rafinha, Ferran , Linglet , Dest , Romeu , ingo and Christensen and get rid of Roberto & Alonso , you will get some money and balance the salary structure forever ,and with the new Nike deal and the profits from this year, go all in for 3 world class players and that's it , the rest we already have in youngsters like Yamal , Kubarsi , Fort , Julian Araujo , Lopez ,Giui to name few. Barcelona will always find ways to get money because it has the biggest brand in Football ,the problem is who they spend it on and how , Ferran torres for 55 M was a joke , Rafinha for 60M was even a bigger one and now if they do get money they will leave players like Leao & Bernando silva and go after players like Dani Olmo and spend +60 M just because he is from La masia

All facts ...in summary Laporta and Xavi have been failures and the decision to continue with Xavi and renew Roberto captures the "prejudice" in the club ....the desire in the club seems to be more to keep friends and family around the club rather than to do what's best for the club.... Barcelona will improve the financial situation because of the current massive global fanbase, However the issues at the club will continue because of the desire to continue with a vast numbers players only because they are Spanish rather than to get players best suited to execute.

This is completely true. I don’t understand why Laporta takes this approach. Everyone knows Barca is a financial dumpster fire, mean whilst, Real Madrid are giving Mbappe 100M as a signing bonus.
Barca haven’t done terribly in the last 3 years when you consider the youth players that have come through, not being outright humiliated in classicos too often, and managing to get top 4.
I get this isn’t what Barca are aiming for, but everyone knows the constraints they are working under.
Dunno why Laporta doesn’t take this same line as Xavi, urge patience, and repairing the club. The socios are only gonna take this gas-lighting so long, and when people start being more aware that Laporta’s management of the finances has also been pretty trash (Lewa’s increasing pay contract being the most recent example), he’s gonna look even dumber because he’s told people they’ll be competing for the UCL next season!

Real Madrid sacked Bernd Schuster in 2008 (I think) because he said Real Madrid cannot win the Classico due to many injuries to top players in the squad.

How I don’t understand is how a player grew up in La Masia and got used to playing the Tiki Taka way went completely against this principle and don’t tell me he doesn’t have the players, because he played that style in his first season when he came in for Koeman. Apparently he doesn't think he can get more out of this team. This can be seen as him managing expectation, but we have seen and heard Xavi all year with all the excuses. That doesn't inspire confidence at all. Good managers are able to do way more with lesser squads

It's actually an advantage to calm expectations, it makes it easier for the team to play with less pressure. What's important is to have squad depth for next season the New UCL has more matches. Have an experienced CDM and that young CDM in Barca athletic to train with the first team . Prepare well for Pre Season , sign players that the coach gives a green light because the Coach is the one fighting on the ground. Our young players have the fight in them Gavi, Pedri , Fermin , Get Faye in there . The most important thing is Training, how we train , put the winning mentality in the team
Gavi was a big part of the team. Once they lost him and Xavi had to do all these experimental lineups is when the season got away from them

Anyone that watches Barca, understands their deficiency on defense, yet all Xavi wants to do is buy fast wingers! The game has changed and value is in defensive midfielders. Barca has De Jong and as soon as he is subbed or injured, defense is exposed. They need 3 De Jong's to stabilize defense.
The midfield in general has been awful since Gavi and De Jong were injured. They couldn't control the ball in the middle of the field against quality opposition.
Even if you give him all the Best players of this world xavi will not go higher with his tactics, he is just average.
Buying the best players is not the only vehicle for success..... Having a competent manager that is able to motivate the players and implement tactics that give them an edge on opponents is also another method..... Xavi is obviously a clown and is poor in every department as a manager hence why he should have been fired from Dec 2023....There is enough quality in that Barcelona squad thst can make Barcelona compete at the highest level even if they didnt managed to win the titles, hence tbe pessimistic speech from Xavi was never needed .....The objective for Barcelona should always be to win titles and play good football, obviously we will not always win but that standards should not be ob tbe ground like how the likes of Xavi wants it.

Post Messi era hasn't been going on well for Barcelona. I feel sorry for all of them. Xavi was caught up in his feelings. I understand how LaPorta feels, but unfortunately, that is the bitter truth. The club has literally bankrupt, which makes it difficult for the club to reinforce the squad. Barcelona needs a natural pivot and a solid left wing and right back, but as it is, these players are not guaranteed.

To be honest, when he said he's leaving Barca I thought that was the right decision for him and the team, I know he's done a lot, but I just don't see Xavi taking Barca to THAT level again, Barca still need a coach, that can control and bring discipline to the squad, a winning mentality. While I agree that Xavi is not good enough, it seems like it's down in Lewandowski's contract to get a set amount of playing time, and it's not up to Xavi to decide. That being said, there is a confusion on whose decision it was to bring Vitor Roque in the winter rather than this summer. Deco says it was Xavi's, Xavi says he didn't plan on it.

Real Madrid spent 6 years (since 2018) building their current team. They scouted, promoted, bought and developed players. Meanwhile, Barca spent that time patching their current squad until they were left with nothing but the patches. Instead of developing youth they opted for a quick fix "pulling levers" and now they are in a worse financial position and have to do the rebuild anyway.
Xavi is right. You can`t fire the guy for being objective for once in his life. Barca need to lower expectations until they develop and promote enough youth and deal with their debt.
Xavi should be given another season. No way should they have expected Barca to win the league or the UCL. He did extremely well to finish second in La Liga and quarter final in UCL. He had so many factors against him, especially the finances, yet he finished second. Another coach will finish 9th so keep Xavi. No big coach should go to Barca at this time to tarnish his reputation.

I find Xavi's coaching style unsatisfactory. His decision to publicly criticize his player before the season concludes is questionable. Perhaps these discussions could have been postponed until the end of the season.

"Optimistic" aka lie and gaslight the fanbase. The world knows Barca is in a terrible situation and being realistic will temper attitudes of the fans in the long run when they know what to expect instead of saying X,Y,Z and then not only does that not happen but something even worse does.
Barca is done as a club. If they compete in Europe it will be due to luck and favoritism. They had one of the easiest pathways in the UCLs this season and it was ridiculous.

The financial situation is an excuse, look what Girona and Bayern Leverkusen did this season with so little budget.
