Hi, my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent comes from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work, but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I would only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people consider this the lowest time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly, what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving, and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I have been living full-time in my self convert van.

I live in Florida so I enjoy watching videos of snow and hearing it crunch under foot. I lived in PA so I’ve driven in snow many times. Don’t miss that.
I agree with you 100%. I am from South Florida but born and raised in PA also. I remember the snow being so beautiful, but I really have no desire to go back and deal with the snow.

I live on the big island of Hawaii, in Kona. We got some much appreciated rain, but very little compared to the rest of the state. 🌺

My cat loved the snow he was throwing snow up in the air with his paws and chased it so funny
The last time I drove in snow conditions in Minnesota I hit a moose on a blind curve and totaled my truck. I was able to donate the meat to a very needy family but was out of a truck until the insurance paid off, then I moved back home to Florida. I will be honest just looking at the snow brings back ugly snow drives.

I'd think you are in the perfect area to appreciate it all. Snow is mostly in the higher elevations with the occasional snowpocalypse. 🤷♀️ Honestly I love the PNW despite the tendency for the great gray wet winters to be a bit overwhelming by the end of February into March. 😊❤🐾

All the parks I know of in Ontario are closed also. I think BC is the exception because they tend to be warmer than the other provinces. There may be some exceptions in southern Ontario around Windsor but I'm really not certain.

This was a lovely video. We most certainly did get snow ❄️ it’s still snowing in Victoria! It was horrible going for my walk with the dog this morning cause all the snow they plowed went up onto the sidewalk! 🫤 It is pretty to look at it it’s the aftermath that sucks! Southeast Michigan here...the storm had tapered off by the time it reached Ann Arbor but still over 60 traffic accidents and 100 calls for road assistance in ten hours. I saw two semi trucks jack-knifed at the north side US-23 entrance to the city blocking traffic in both directions. The bitter cold has kept it ugly.
The snow is so pretty at the campground. I like it but am glad when it's gone after a few days. Nice video as usual Emi. Stay warm.
Kelly is great. She has inspired me to teach Amira to be an adventure cat. Amira is a 4 month, gray tiger. She loves riding in the van. And going shopping. 😊

Emi, your snow looks so much more intense than ours here. All the work you have to go through. When it gets that cold and snowy does it ever bring your spirits down? It does me especially with zero sunshine. I find myself missing it. I was going to tell you that my female cat Joon that watches Kelly all the time I can feel it by her actions and in my bones she wants to travel and go Emi. Which is 100% different than my male cat Benny. Scared of his own shadow and people. But Joon I can see and feel the adventure in her eyes.

I love the four seasons too but I just wondered if you ever wanted to travel out of the country for a week or two in the winter.
Gosh, I'm gonna catch up on videos. My computer crashed. Had to buy a new one wait on it to deliver. Then my phone wouldn't charge. Finally found a new one that would charge it. So now - I'm back to see what's been going on. That's some heavy wet snow falling. It's gorgeous but tough on driving and staying warm. I agree 4 seasons you get to see some of the best of all of them - and some tough stuff too. Kitty said that's too cold and wet. LOL Stay warm and stay safe. God Bless! Well we know that BC has warmer weather than Quebec.😊 I think you stay there because that's your home. You've learned how to manage it for quite some time now. I like it to use a park when weather may be more questionable. Safer is always better. And the places you . Those campgrounds are gorgeous. Stay warm and safe. I'm in the USA in the state of Georgia. it's really slick out - black ice under the snow. I had a wreck myself walking a dog - almost took him down with me. I must of looked funny, I did the "tumbellina style roll" haha Glad you were ok Emi. Kitty has the right idea, stay in and look at that pretty stuff from a distance
