    "Freedom is peace!"
"Oh no. It's an invitation to chaos."
I liked Haytham from the first moment I saw him so didn't care that he was a Templar, but that line right there gave me an entirely new perspective on the Templars and Assassin's. What Haytham said was so true you couldn't help but wonder if the Assassin's were the bad ones this time around or completely misguided. If only they could have worked together. I wish we had at least got to have seen Haytham in the Tyranny of King Washington DLC.

1: I like that you used CapCut
2: I agree with you that ac3 is a good game
3: Connor and Haytham are the best characters in the lore and ac rouge should and had the perfect setup for a Haytham centered game. Think about it we have Edward and Connor with ac four and three respectively. And in between during the seven years war you can still have the same plot and cosmetics and weapons and gameplay etc. A few details need to be changed obviously but the overarching plot can stay the same even the trip to Lisbon only recontextualized as Haytham discovering the truth about the precursor sites and then following the game from there including the final confrontation at the end. Instead of the Paris mission mission about Haytham getting the hidden blade we see in assassin‘s creed three that he later gives to Connor

People really need to stop calling him a "VILLAIN". In storytelling a "VILLAIN" Is an individual with pure evil motives. Haytham does not fit this category. He is an "ANTAGONIST" Which is classified as an individual who is not bad but challenges the protagonists (Connors) beliefs and philosophies. Haytham could also be classified as a "ANTI-HERO" which is someone who does bad things for the right reasons. Haytham Kenway genuinely is a good man who wants what's best for the American Colonies, with justice, order. These are traits that you don't find in a "VILLAIN"

I think the reason why Haytham is so compelling is because he’s so forthright. He’s direct and genuine. He believes what is coming out of his mouth to be true. There’s only one time I can remember him purposefully bending the truth and that was with Ziio just before they split. He said that he killed Braddock and saw him die but in actuality he just mortally wounded him. In truth, it took some time for Braddock to succumb to his wounds, which unfortunately for Ziio and her other relatives meant that the Bulldog (Braddock) could reap more havoc on innocent natives before his demise. Whether this was just Haytham assuming he’d be good as dead in a few mins time and telling Ziio what he thought was the truth or him knowing exactly what was going to happen is a mystery to me.

Sadly haytham has been messed up with rouge and 4.
AC 4 in small ways changed haythams story because they retconed Edwards story. Edward is now welsh english and blonde... a man who lived as a pirate like a fool who found wisdom later. But in AC 3 Edward is a calculated, strict and intelligent assassin in London who was as a young man consumed by a darkness that follows all 3 kenways... or it was meant to. Much of haythams darkness is implied to be from his farther who was more haytham styled with dark hair and money.
Then in AC rouge ubisoft decided that haytham had been a templar from the start... AC 3 implied he was recently turned... having found out bertch was a templar, a man he knew and respected. (Its important to know forsaken contradicts the cannon. So while its listed as cannon it cant be as it moves against the games not wity them)
Haytham killed the british mentor and they both spoke as if they knew each other and regretted this fall out. Later the Assassins who are known for assassinating tried to take haytham alive. Haytham still has Assassin symbols on him and when asked how he learnt to free run assassinat and climb buildings he said it was a requirement growing up... templars dont require you to do that stuff.
Basically haytham had recently gone rouge. More over bertch asked haytham if he had "taken care" of the remaining Assassins and haytham said yes but this is obviously not true as mils followed him and an assassin ship to boot. Later connors mum who has assassin links dose a leap of faith and haytham judt ignores it. Haytham was to some level defending the assassins and i think the retcons made by the other games have faild haytham as a character (and Edward to be honest) and that it doesn't really fit in with AC 3.

I know Conner is my favorite character but there are a couple of cons that I dislike about him. I sympathize him and I’m always going to be on his side. But I must give critic where critic is due. If only he could had been more sympathetic of killing Haythem. ( even though haythem let Conner kill him) a second con… like maybe not be quick to dissmising Haythem after finding out the truth of who burned his village. He’s blunt and dismissive that part I can’t lie about. But that Dosent mean he isn’t a good character, he had his moments of being a kindhearted guy, and he is indeed caring of others ( just don’t get on his bad side or make him mad) or else you’ll get the “ GIVE ME LEE” treatment lol

Great take. I still stand by my opinion of the AC3 plotline and character arcs/characters to have been the best out of all the ac games. I had played the games from the start in order, played ac3 when it released, and even though i love Ezio, the story was quite simple, good evil vengeance suffering, etc, great plot, but ac3's plot and the continuation of the story through ac rogue just had so much more going for it. More complexity, no easy answers, an assassin who has a 'not very knowledgeable, yet idealistic' take on peace and freedom, and so many more things that I can't put in this comment. I feel like the people who hate on the game just because they didn't like Connor didn't really see what purpose Connor served in the story. He was never meant to be the "likeable, charming, wise" assassin. He was supposed to be the flawed vengeful idiot who does a lot before he realizes the path he's on. A journey of someone who's so far from perfect and yet deserves their story told. You can see him develop those concepts of right and wrong and figure out what he's even fighting so ruthlessly for, since that's all he knew from a young age; violence. He came from nothing, unlike Ezio, he didn't have a good upbringing and education to make him wise. He was just another guy, who went through so much pain that all he could see was what he wanted to see. It was brilliantly done, imo. I love this game, so much.

Ac three was a solid game. Not the best, but haytham was definitely the best villain. The only problem I have with it is the story. Connor becomes the revolution and singlehandedly wins battle after battle for the US. When it came out I was 21 and just pumped to play during the revolution that happened in my country. I could go on and on but the combat is the best imo the sick random kills during combat looks so freaking cool .

You won't get another villain like them in the Witcher lite style games. Ubisoft may have huge teams, but they've proven they can't make giant passably decent games with both a good story and passable gameplay. You get one or the other. Maybe one day they'll stop shoveling pointless RPG mechanics in games that aren't in depth enough to be RPG's and THEN you can get some halfway decent writing and characters again.

Its not a theory, its a fact. In the books, he wrote it in the last entry of his journal and after reading it Connor was pretty sad. He even said " Father, Mother, I'm sorry I failed you" at their graves. Also the reason he did not join the assassins is because after finding out what the templars did to him was that he had done so much for the templars already and caused so much damage to the assassins, it would make him an enemy to both sides. So he chose to die by his sons hand.

Haytham is easily my favorite character in the entire AC franchise due to how he is complex and combines the best of Templar cynicism regarding humanity with the open-mindedness of the Assassin Brotherhood. He is the perfect foil to the idealistic and naïve Connor due to him being a pragmatic realist who understands humanity better than his son. I'm surprised you did not mention Haytham's speech during his final fight with Connor as he fully explains his motivations. And despite how Connor defeats the Templar scheme, the ending really drives home about how Haytham was right when you see how Native Americans are put up for sale as slaves right as the British leave.

Honestly, we needed more Templars like Haytham that aren't just mustache twirling villains that are just a crappy analogy for capitalism or something. Haytham was the best villain because he was given the most depth and backstory, you can actually kinda see his point and agree with it to a certain extent. It really shows just how underdeveloped the whole Templar and Assassin conflict really is, we need more Templars and Assassins really to show that life isn't black and white, and its grey at times.
