Awww thank you so much ❤️😘 I know lots of people have loads of fancy bits and bobs, and expensive pens etc, but I'd rather keep it small, spend my money on more diamond paintings instead 😉 xx
Thank you Sandy, I really love it, it's nice and small too so doesn't take up much room on the table, especially as there is always a diamond painting on there too 🤭 Thank you so much for watching and subscribing, it means so much 🥰❤️
There are so many beautiful pens and trays etc, and I could go crazy buying them, but I have everything I need here, and would rather save my money for diamond paintings to add to my stash 🫢❤️
I love the big trays by Amazon. I have some foam tubes that the some companies use for shipping bigger canvases so they don’t get crushed. I cut them a tiny bit wider than the pour spout and use them as a stopper. They are easy to remove and put back, and they keep drills from getting all over my table. It works really well.
Been doing this hobby for 10+ years now. and l can personally say l hate the trays, l use a cap from a storage container, I don't use those weight things to hold the plastic, l keep the silicone paper from eg HUCAN and cut 4x4 squares and keep them. and just pull the plastic back and place them down for a couple of rows, and cut that plastic off, and just move up as l finish off the couple rows with the paper on it. I don't have any fancy pens, l just use the ones that come with the kits, Also a lite pad is a must, And it really doesn't matter how big it is, l used a small one for years, you move it around not a big deal. a over head light yes, and yes the sharpies and scissors are a must. A Wooden roller is better than the plastic ones, l had a plastic and over time it snapped. And a big thing for me is Corn pads, l find when l am doing it for a long time that little bone at the base of your wrist on the side, l put one on there and it is such a relief
This was awesome! Your voice is very calming. I just started about a year ago and still getting the hang of it. I have only completed I since I started just cause I'm busy but after a few months break I'm back at it with a nice painting my wife got me. Just snooping around TH-cam trying to find things I should add. Thanks for posting❤️
Ahh thank you so much 😊 it's such a relaxing hobby isn't it, I keep trying to get my hubby to have a go at diamond painting but he won't even try 😕 oh well, at least I don't have to share my paintings with him 🤭 xx
I have so many of the same items. I should get some plastic boxes. Because I collect the ergonomic pens Especially, seasonal ones and cover minders for holiday.
I think I definitely need to get myself some better equipment light wise, I don't even have a light pad, but my sight is really bad anyway, so I definitely need extra help xx
Hello, I’m New Here watching & wanting to learn all I can from Seasoned Diamond Painters to learn from. I’m New to Diamond Painting. The Washy Tape on the Sticky Sides is an Awesome Tip I’ll be using. I don’t know what AB drills are. I’ve just finished my First Big Canvas & I’m sharing the process & made a Diamond Painting Playlist. I started small with Magnets & Stickers. My Next Project is a Custom Diamond painting. I look forward to getting that started. I look forward to learning any tips & tricks. I prefer single placing I enjoy the process & it’s Not a Rush for me. I absolutely Love this video and will be sharing you out on my Community Post. I have joined your TH-cam channel/family. Hoping to connect & learn from you. Full watching. Blessings. 😊😊😊 Sharon in SC 13:30
Hello my lovely, I think starting small is a really brilliant idea ☺️ AB drills are drills with a coating on them, it's like the northern lights, gives an extra bit of shine There are so many great TH-camrs out there with loads and loads of hints and tips, I watched so many videos when I first started and I learnt so much, it's a truly wonderful hobby ❤️
Hi. Thank you for all your great tips. I just got a beautiful diamond painting set to do for my birthday. But I'm a little nervous to start because I never did one before. So I have been watching videos to learn.
@@Donna-ok4xf that's the best way, I watched loads and loads of videos when I started, it's great fun once you get sorted, let me know how you get on xxx
@@amygathercole4078 ahh thank you Amy, I've also done an updated video as a few of the bits and bobs in my box have changed, I love Diamond Painting so much, I hope you do too 😘
Love your set up. For the stickers have you tried using whiteboard markers on the storage box for the diamonds to label them the markers work great and it saves you from removing each sticker. 😊
Thank you 😊 I have actually started using a Sharpie pen on some of my storage boxes, it wipes off easily with nail varnish remover, I hadn't thought of whiteboard pens, so thank you for the tip ❤️😘
@@diamondpaintinglisa6117i use the sharpie as well, i have a gold and black one. The dry erase or even wet erase wipe off much quicker while working on one, and need to be rewritten.
I use parchment paper. I roll down the original covering and cover the upper portion with the parchment and cut out sections as I’m working with it. I like it better than the release paper.
I have a light up pen that runs on two AAA batteries and its my favorite. It comes in a two-pack. Available in 4 different colors. I love them. The button to turn them on & off is on the end. I bought the Silver & Rosegold set, they also come in a red & blue set. There great for lighting up the drills in your tray to make sure your not grabbing one that might be upside down... Or lighting up the letters on your canvas. I work on my bed on a light table in my lap, so between the light table & the light pen, its a great combination.
I did used to have one of those pens but it was a cheap one and I'd only been using it a couple of days and it was flickering, maybe I will try again and hopefully get a better quality one xx
One of mine was doing that, and i just needed to tighten all the points where the pieces screwed together. That was all it took. I found that out after i bought a second set. So now I have four pens that light up! I put different sized heads on all of them and have them all loaded and ready for use!
You can think of a fishing lure as artificial bait. It looks like a bug, worm, etc but is artificial and has a big hook built into it to catch the fish when they attempt to eat the "bug". That said, I love your ingenuity and creativity with repurposing the tackle box!
I'm still new to diamond painting but one of my indispensable tools is a short awl. I use it for cleaning old wax/putty from my pen tips really quickly.
That's brilliant 😁 I hope you manage to find a box, I need to order a light pad at some point soon, my eye sight is pretty bad and I think it would really help xx
@@diamondpaintinglisa6117 Me too that's why I bought a light pad because my eye sight is pretty bad and I thought it would help and get easy painting. And also I have an Easel for my oil painting and that helps a lot for my neck. I have to be careful so my oil paint doesn't get on my pad or I'll use my computer stand that has angle.
I was going ti put my diamond pens with the larger heads away. But I gave them another try. I love my 3 drill pen and the largest holds about six drills which is large enough. Try some of your larger heads they just might work better after using the 3 drill pen. This is the third diamond painting I’ve done. 2 small and now one large…so not an expert but its relaxing and I can do it in my bed where i have to spend too much time but I live in pain. I birthed two babies with absolutely no drugs, blocks etc. Hit by a van and totaled with my body and wouldn’t take anything for the pain. Six broken ribs and fractured kidney. I was 15 so I know pain. I burst my first two disc when I was 13 in gymnastics. Not looking for sympathy…but people in pain (especially back pain) can get a bad wrap. My knees also likes to join the choir occasionally.😂 If you are in pain you can watch a person walk and see their pain. For mr no reaching when at the table or stretching for ceiling fan cords, no bowling and I’ll never be able to take up golf.
@@joni22262 bless you, it sounds like you have been through so much ❤️ I'm glad diamond painting helps, it's so relaxing, I absolutely love this hobby so much I am happy using up to a 5 placer now, but anymore than that, I find I'm just spending time adjusting them slightly xxx
@@diamondpaintinglisa6117 you have French Doors? Lucky you. Would love to have French Doors. I Diamond paint at the Kitchen table because within at least 20min, my Lumbar area of my back becomes extremely painful.
@@elizabethwarman9028 I'm starting to really struggle with my back lately too 😫 I lean right over my diamond painting because my eye sight is so bad xx
Great information 👏🏻🥰‼️ Some of it I knew about but some I didn’t. I’m starting my first Diamond Art painting tonight or tomorrow, depending upon when my accessories get here tonight. The picture I bought is a big one, 33.5” x 15.75” Last Supper. Should be fun to do.
Thank you for the tip on separating drills! Oh my gosh, that was so frustrating. Just today I finished my fifth canvas. The first four didn't have any stuck drills, so I was surprised to see them on this last one. The green tray trick works a treat, and now I know what to do if I encounter that again. I'm still very new, but I've already got my favorite pen with a single placer on one side and a straightener on the other, and a nice resin pen with a 2 and 4 multiplacer. Any bigger than 4 and I just can't get all the drills to stick to the pen. Perhaps there is a learning curve. We'll see. You tackle box is nicely put together. Thanks so much for sharing your kit.
Thank you so much for watching, glad the green trays worked, it's so frustrating when they are stuck together, if the green trays don't work, put a small coin (I use a 5p) in the pot with the drills and shake, that's great if the trays don't work I have been diamond painting since January 2020, and I'm still not confident with a multi placer, I use a 3 and a 4, it amazes me when I see TH-camrs using huge multi placers, but I just find I spend time adjusting them, so it seems pointless, I have ordered some of the new multi placers from diamond art club, they are really thin, so I'm hoping I will find them easier to use xxx
Thank you, I love it too, especially as I can get to all the compartments straight away, it wasn't expensive either, perfect for keeping everything together in a small space ❤️
@@suzannamawson it was on eBay, if you search pink fishing tackle box, hopefully you will find one, I love it, it's perfect to keep all my bits and bobs together xx

You didn't miss it, it's my fault, I meant to go back to it and forgot 🙈 the little black cat and the other bits in that section are called cover minders, they have a magnet on the back, and you can use them to hold back the cellophane while you work on your canvas, if you have a look on my video's, there is one for "how I work on a canvas" I use the cover minder on that video and it will probably give you a better idea 😀❤️ xxx
Hey! If u have a range in your nearby area you should check out the crystal canvas collection! They are really good and pretty! I have 4 and I love them.
The box is a great way to keep everything organised I use a drawer in my desk for all the DP stuff 😄 I find that the micro glue dots fits most of my pen tips the best, but it varies a bit between different tips, so I have both the micro and the mini glue dots and then I either put a micro glue dot or two in a tip or put a mini glue dot in a cut the excess of with a scissor if it bulge to much over the top - so you could try cutting the ones you have in half to see if that fits your tip better - then you don’t have to buy the micro to then maybe just discover that you like putty best 👋🏻🤗👋🏻
My daughter has already stolen my glue dots, but I will definitely try them again at some point, I'm enjoying using putty at the moment 😀 With diamond painting on my dining table, having this box is perfect for putting everything away quickly ready for meal times xx
Fab video I have a spare box which I’m off to find so I can start building my kit. Glad I read through the comments as I was going to ask how do you get the extra wax of the drills but thanks to queen aranel I now know lol xx
I get my diamond paintings from either diamond art studio or diamond art club, my putty I get from crafting Cat on Etsy, other bits and bobs have mainly been eBay or Amazon xx
I've also thought it would be a good idea to offer the kits without the tray and pen. Once you done a few kits you end up with an unnecessary stockpile of those to try and dispose of.
i use my tweezers instead of pens never couild get pens to pick up wax i use a magnafying glass and the tweezers and light box thats all i need since i do my painting on my walker since im disabled
Hi Miss Lisa, I appreciate your video & tips. I’m fairly new to Diamond Art. I basically have the same set up as you. I agree with just using 1 pen, having 1 roll of washi tape on hand. I have a light box and an Ott light to help the eyes. Question: About, how long does it take you to finish a painting. A basic size of 16x20”? I’m working on Starry Night and have about 35 hrs. into it, probably about 4-5 hrs more to go. Of course I work on it at my leisure 1 hr. To 2hrs. Or even 3+ hrs😀
Hello lovely, I think I'm pretty slow at diamond painting compared to alot of people, I tend to do around 2 hours a day, I'd love to do more, I do more at the weekends though 😊 smaller paintings like 50 x 50 seem to take me around 6 weeks I think 🤔 I've never actually timed myself, maybe I will on my next canvas 😁 i definitely need to get a light pad, as my eyesight is bad at the best of times, and I'm hoping it would help me ❤️
Thank you for the video. Lots of cool tips. I gotta say I do love your weed grinder. 😮😂. I like your cute stickers too. N like Cece said ...a light pad was my best purchase as a beginner. I think I paid around $5.00 on Temu and it works great. I've had it over a year now.
@@diamondpaintinglisa6117 sure you didn't know 🤣🤣 I'm joking. I wouldn't know either except they sell them at every gas station by me. The light pad will make a world of difference. Only tip I have is get a size that suits the paintings you do.
Another fab, what a great way to keep everything together and organised! Wow makes my accessories look a little excessive... but I’m a sucker for a nice washi tape. I also have two drafting tables so I have a little kit on each one. Love your vids and looking forward to peeking at your stash. Big love ❤️💜
Great video! I've got one of those boxes but I got mine from Hobbycraft. I've never bought an Add More Zest tray as I don't like the way the spout sticks out so much and I watched a TH-camr review them and she said the the lines go all the way to the spout but drills get stuck there and because there is that bit over the top, it's really difficult to get the drills unstuck. She said that if the lines weren't so long, it would be a lot easier to use. So that has also put me off buying one.
Instead of a lightpad, I prefer to use a headlamp that uses rechargeable batteries. I find lightpads don't light up enough for me to see the symbols clearly.
The blue piece is used for grinding from marijuana to spices etc. Wouldn’t ever use for drills. I have a big piece im working on with alot of color changes so the sticky is loosing it’s stick? I have many ideas but would love to hear what has worked for you and our others.
@@joni22262 yes I've been told it's for weed, I didn't realise that at the time 🙈 I've done an updated video of my must haves as a few things have changed, the weed grinder has gone now I find if an area of a canvas has lost its stick, I wipe over it with a baby wipe (I know sounds crazy) then leave it to dry, the stick usually comes back xxx

I am very new to diamond paintings and I kind of just picked them up as a thing to distract myself even a little from anxiety and depression. I found since doing them that it really helps me focus on stuff more and I am getting into them but I am running low on all the diamond paintings in my local area and searching online for stuff because I just use the stuff it comes with. This video helped a lot understand things but I didn't really catch what the first things you showed were? Could you explain them to me? The coverminders I think they were?
Hi there, I also suffer with depression, and I am really terrible for over thinking things, and I've also found diamond painting really helps, it seems to make me forget my worries and I just get lost in the painting ❤️ the cover minders are used for holding back the film cover/paper that covers the canvas while you work on it, I'm going to do a selection of videos with hints and tips and will make sure I include cover minders ❤️ I know lots of people have loads of trays and loads of pens, but I just think it's more stuff to store, and I'd rather spend my money on more paintings, the type of pens you saw in my box for me are more comfy for me to hold than the pens that come with kits, I also now prefer putty to the wax you get with kits If you are in the UK like me, my favourite company for diamond paintings is diamond art studio, I have lots of unboxing videos from them, I also found a lady in the UK that sells putty too, if you need any help or advice at all, just let me know, I'm always happy to help, I'm also admin on a Facebook group, with lots of lovely people who are really friendly and helpful 🥰❤️
I've done 2 or 3 diamond paintings now, and have several in my stash. Just wondering what do people do with the left over dots? I'm a bit concerned I'm going to end up with lots of random dots, and not sure how to use up or dispose of in a "sustainable" way. Can they go in recycling?
@@Dawn-e6p I've been thinking about this so much lately, lots of people keep them incase they run out of drills on other projects, but in 4 years of diamond painting I've only ever run out once..some people use them in other crafts/to decorate (I think there is a group on Facebook for that) and there is another group on Facebook where people send them to others who are in need of a specific DMC number, some donate to schools for art projects, some people save them for HAED projects (heaven and earth design). I've been keeping mine and so far haven't done anything with them, so as you can imagine, I have alot, and really do need to decide what to do with them, like you I want to try and make sure I can use up/dispose of in an ethical way, I need to decide what to do xx
I'm loving your tutorials Lisa, I know they will help me alot on my dp journey. I'm strill to start on my very first kit and have read of alot of people complaining of neck/arm ache etc. Do you use anything to prevent you getting stiff etc? if so do you have anything you can recommend to me please ?
Hello lovely, I'm glad you are enjoying the video's, I remember when I started my very first diamond painting, I was hooked straight away ❤️ some people use a tilt table (I've seen one at Hobbycraft I would like) at the moment I do my diamond painting at our dining table, good lighting helps, I make sure I take regular breaks from mine so I don't get a stiff neck or back, if you try a few diamond paintings, and get to love it, a tilt table would be good, some people use a table top easel that tilts, they tend to help you aching so much and are a cheaper option to tilt tables xx

My favourite pen is AMZ black metal pen, I find the fat ones too fat and the pink, in kit type too thin and light. Can use a 6 placer but not well. What do you prefer round, square or special drills?
I'm the same as you, the thick pens just feel too big to hold for me, and the pink, I agree, are too thin, I've been practicing alot with a 4 and 7 placer, I don't have any 5 or 6 placers so I could do with ordering some as they might be better for me, I love all drill types really, I love the detail that square gives, so I probably lean more towards square, but I do like to keep a couple of small rounds in my stash as I find I can complete them quicker, which is your favourite? Xx
Some people use baking/parchment paper, but I think you have to be really careful as I believe you can only use one side on the canvas, so I personally prefer to just buy release papers that can be used either side, I paid £6.47 for 150 release papers on eBay and they can be used many times xx

Nice set up Lisa! I was using my dining table for the longest time. I have "upgraded" (😉) to a folding table (long) by the living room window (until I can clear a space in my spare room and make it my own craft area). With your current glue dots (I use them in my single placers) you can cut the nub that sticks out and you should get on with them better. I find I need 1 and 1/2 glue dots and I didn't buy the micro (they were not available in the craft shop). My favourite trays are the ones by AMZ. I have several. As for pens, I too don't like the ones that come with the kits. I have a small collection of pens (one is the same as yours from Etsy - although mine came from Amazon). I really like to change up my pens and the different sizes are good for me. I didn't think I would be collecting pens, but alas I am. Thanks for your video. See you next time.
I did end up buying a light pad after this video, and it does make a huge difference xx
That product also comes in sheets. I never thought to use it on my hands. Thanks!

Hello my lovely, I think starting small is a really brilliant idea ☺️
AB drills are drills with a coating on them, it's like the northern lights, gives an extra bit of shine

Great tips. I like to use tweezers with square drills.
I have heard a lot of people use tweezers, I'd end up flicking the drills everywhere 🙈 I do use them for big special drills xx
Lisa, I hate the little pink pens; yours are beautiful. That white one is really cool. 💜⛟💜⛟💜
Me too, they are so thin and horrible to hold xxx

Something you could do for the big tray is put these soft things on the plastic pens you can put it in the area you spill them in to the container.
Thank you for the suggestion 🙂❤️😊
@@StoneWolf99801 ahhh right I see, I will have to definitely try another one xx
You can think of a fishing lure as artificial bait. It looks like a bug, worm, etc but is artificial and has a big hook built into it to catch the fish when they attempt to eat the "bug". That said, I love your ingenuity and creativity with repurposing the tackle box!
Ahhh right, now I know at last ❤️ xx

My knees also likes to join the choir occasionally.😂
If you are in pain you can watch a person walk and see their pain.
For mr no reaching when at the table or stretching for ceiling fan cords, no bowling and I’ll never be able to take up golf.

Thank you so much for watching, glad the green trays worked, it's so frustrating when they are stuck together, if the green trays don't work, put a small coin (I use a 5p) in the pot with the drills and shake, that's great if the trays don't work
I have been diamond painting since January 2020, and I'm still not confident with a multi placer, I use a 3 and a 4, it amazes me when I see TH-camrs using huge multi placers, but I just find I spend time adjusting them, so it seems pointless, I have ordered some of the new multi placers from diamond art club, they are really thin, so I'm hoping I will find them easier to use xxx

My daughter has already stolen my glue dots, but I will definitely try them again at some point, I'm enjoying using putty at the moment 😀

Hi there, I also suffer with depression, and I am really terrible for over thinking things, and I've also found diamond painting really helps, it seems to make me forget my worries and I just get lost in the painting ❤️ the cover minders are used for holding back the film cover/paper that covers the canvas while you work on it, I'm going to do a selection of videos with hints and tips and will make sure I include cover minders ❤️
I know lots of people have loads of trays and loads of pens, but I just think it's more stuff to store, and I'd rather spend my money on more paintings, the type of pens you saw in my box for me are more comfy for me to hold than the pens that come with kits, I also now prefer putty to the wax you get with kits
If you are in the UK like me, my favourite company for diamond paintings is diamond art studio, I have lots of unboxing videos from them, I also found a lady in the UK that sells putty too, if you need any help or advice at all, just let me know, I'm always happy to help, I'm also admin on a Facebook group, with lots of lovely people who are really friendly and helpful 🥰❤️
Some people ues wishi tape they put it on top of the cellophane sheets and then they cut it.
Yes I do that sometimes, but my lines always seem to go wonky 🤭 that's why I prefer release paper xx
Where did you purchase your box? It’s the perfect size!
It was from eBay, got it a couple of years ago, I love it ❤️
I'm loving your tutorials Lisa, I know they will help me alot on my dp journey.
Cool, I'm going to see if my hubby could make me one. He's well into his diy, might save a few pennies too. More to spend on canvasses lol. Many thanks 😊
@@jennyreynolds30 hehe that sounds like a fantastic idea, he will enjoy the challenge 😉 and you get more pennies for all the lovely diamond paintings, if you are in the UK, I recommend diamond art studio for really good quality kits, and they come super fast too xxx
Xx
@diamondpaintinglisa6117 I prefer rounds, but that could be because I've only tried cheap squares before. I do have The Druid in square from DAC.
@@mumsysescape6612 diamond art studio squares are amazing quality, I definitely recommend them if you are ever tempted to a fantastic square kit ❤️
Is the release paper parchment paper or maybe wax paper???
Some people use baking/parchment paper, but I think you have to be really careful as I believe you can only use one side on the canvas, so I personally prefer to just buy release papers that can be used either side, I paid £6.47 for 150 release papers on eBay and they can be used many times xx
What do you do with your paintings?
I have a couple on the wall, most are in a folder, I keep meaning to get more frames so I can get some more of them on the wall, I wish I had space for all my favourite ones xx
I’m new to it what do you guys do with it afterwards ?
@@symone2179 some I put in frames on the wall, some I gift and I've just brought a big art folder to store the rest xx
Have you got the link for the storage box or what is it called please xx
I don't unfortunately as I brought it while ago now, but if you go on eBay/amazon or AliExpress and search for pink fishing tackle box, hopefully it will come up xx
@@diamondpaintinglisa6117 I found something very similar on temu :) thank you though ❤️
@@xox_ceebear91_xox65 glad you managed to find something 😁❤️
Nice video I subbed.
Thank you so much 😊❤️
❤️👍🏼
Where did you purchase your extra sparkly drills ?
Hi Dana, they were from diamond Art Studio UK xx
Where do you get the release paper
@@xomeggsox you can buy from lots of places, eBay, Amazon, Ali express, diamond art club, if you want pretty release paper, there are a few shops on Etsy that sell it xxx
Wanting to order the tackle box but cant find it
I've had it quite a while now, I've seen very similar ones on Amazon, I found this one on eBay, which looks the same but is in a different colour xx

Round blue thing is a weak chopper.
Yes so I've been told, I didn't know that when I brought it xxx
The British accent is everything ✋😂
@@AamaneeAmead 🤣 I absolutely hate my voice lol xx
Cheers from Canada (Ontario).
I am so sorry Nancy, I started to reply then didn't end up posting 🤦🏻♀️ I'm thinking I definitely need to sort out something in my living room too, even if it's just some sort of small tray so I can work on my paintings in the evenings when I watch TV, I'd get through my stash alot quicker too 😂
My daughter has now stolen my glue dots, but I'm happy with my putty, and it smells so good ❤
I hope all is well with you in Canada ❤❤❤
@@diamondpaintinglisa6117 all good here. Heading your way next month. Good luck with your small table!
@@nancysmith3151 still on the search for something to help my diamond painting addiction carry on in my living room 🤭
Ohhh you are coming to the UK? Xx
@@diamondpaintinglisa6117 yes! My daughter and her family live there. 🥰
@@nancysmith3151 oh that will be so lovely for you to see the family, you must miss them terribly ❤️
I think I am the only person that doesn't use pens. I just use tweezers to put the diamonds on.
My daughter's friend uses tweezers, I think a few people do, I sometimes use them for ab drills xx
I like tweezers for ABs and for errant drills that needs to be picked off of the canvas or dropped on the canvas.
😊💖
