Excellent video! As a Brit it makes me stupidly happy that the name Point Horror started in the UK haha. I grew up reading these books and still love them today :)
This was great! I was born in 2000 so I didn’t grow up with these books but I love the horror genre and the awesome vintage covers of these caught my eye. I so far have the Babysitter series and some other R.L. Stine titles. I want to read the Vampire’s Promise as the premise seems really entertaining to me! The Funhouse is now on my list as well.
A lot of the covers are better than the books themselves lol! The Vampire's Promise trilogy was one of my favorites as a kid. Doesn't hold up so well as an adult, but I still like it a lot.
Hit and Run was my first. A part of me would still have loved to have seen The Babysitter & The Lifeguard adapted for TV or cinema. From memory the most grisly and graphic of the range were The Lifeguard, Beach House and The Hitchhiker (oh and the 13 anthologies). Otherwise I did find the books very tame, and definitely felt superseded and dated once Buffy came on the scene. I find on revisiting the best tend to be the earlier books before the formula set in, although some of the later books that went against the grain (like Dream Date) were also ones I remember fondly.
Great video. Can't wait for the Relaunch video. Identity Theft and Followers are two of the worst books I have ever read. Anna Davies was completely out of her depth. I thought I was missing something, until I realised she was simply steadfastly refusing to explain the reasoning behind ANYTHING. And Cooney's books were Christian parable claptrap. There, I said it. 😆 Diane Hoh was my favourite. She didn't release a single clunker. (Well, maybe The Wish in Nightmare Hall, but that was still better than a lot of Point Horror.)
I know you're right about Cooney, but it never stood out to me enough to piss me off lol! Diane Hoh was top tier PH, always reliably good. I still haven't been able to force myself through all of the Relaunch, but I will! Someday soon! I swear! 😂
I binged these in my early teens in the90s UK. Funnily enough I don’t often read horror as an adult

Thank you! They were some of my favorite types of books growing up, too! 😄
This is such an awesome video! Very informative. Thanks for sharing!! I'm a new horror fan so I'm loving learning all about it.😊
Hey, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

The Hitchhiker would be a great one to see adapted if only because of Surprise!Piranhas lol
@@ogwnostalgiareviews I must admit when I read it, I couldn't help envisioning Rutger Hauer in the role.
I loved this video. It was really interesting. Thank you for making this.
Please make a video on the Demon book and why it got 2 sequels, I'm now curious about wtf is going on there 🙏
It's definitely on the list of possible future videos!
