Nepheli is such a good person she ends up being one of the only fromsoft characters to have a happy ending to their quest. I'd say she deserves it, she's an absolute boss.
Nah Kenneth should have retained his role as Ruler and made Nephali his general it makes so much more sense and fits their roles so much better. Nephali knows literally nothing about ruling and is going to have to rely on Kenneth for everything anyway.

Also you can turn Nephelli into a S*x doll for Seluvis, if you want. That would be in the "not a happy ending" category.

@ It's a quote from Hoarah Loux adapted to Miss Chalice, that's all. I was looking for a word and since she explains the lore, librarian fits the bill.

I love that nepheli joins us on the hoorah loux fight. Her loyalty to us , is greater than any distant ancestor clan member duty. She chose to help us, she helped us become elden lord because she believes in us. That hit in the feels

So glad you're covering Nepheli. Her quest while seemingly glanced over alot was one of my favorites. Love her as a character always striving forward and despite hardship never truly giving up.

A detail I feel everyone misses is that around Storm Hill even wolves ambush you via the wind, swooping down after howling. Also many combat arts use storm winds and have their own insignia when being cast, just like all the other forms of magic and incantations. To me this means that at least humanoids, wolves and storm hawks served the Storm Lord, whoever or whatever they were.

I feel bad for giving her that rophynol shit from scumluvius on journey 2... and killing millicent for the talisman, and latenna for her outfit. Damn, i was an asshole on journey 2, but it dont matter because it was my frenzied flame playthrough anyways, lol.
I honestly did not pursue her questline the first time i played, purely because i wasn't sure HOW to progress it. But now I know how much of a good girl she is (and that she also gives a pretty great talisman and smithing stone) i will let her rise to power every time!
I pushed the wrong button and hit her with a sword and she got pissed and killed me.

I remember summoning her in the Goodrich fight and got really sad when she died because I thought she’d be dead forever. My relief when I saw her at the round table hold
I felt the same on the Radahn fight. Seeing Alexander the warrior jar die. I was like “noooooooooooo Alexander!!!!” “I should have never summoned him!”
I had a similar worry the first time I fought Margit and brought Rogier with me, but had a feeling that he'd be alright when his summon sign kept appearing on the dozens of occasions I went to go try again.
Sure is good that Marika hid destined death!
I always assumed nepheli was part of a loux tribe not a daughter but an undefined blood relative.
After the truly terrible Sellen fate, I wasn't sure if I wanted to pursue every quest line. I go for Ranni's ending now but seeing Iji and Blaidd's fate is also sad even though its a good ending.
There's only one thing left to do bruv. Burn it all away. Melt everything into one with the yellow flame of frenzy. May chaos take the world. MAY CHAOS! TAKE! THE WORLD!!

Indeedy! That terrible feeling when I start a questline with a likeable character and the voice in the back of my head goes "ahh you're going to end up dead in someway or another, aren't you?" Nepheli was like a ray of sunshine and a sigh of relief :)

I was so happy to see her back at Stormveil near the end, not only alive but with renewed purpose and poised to (hopefully) take Limgrave in a better direction. For Fromsoft, that's like ending with a wedding and a dance number :) Kinda wish they'd done a little more with her, though. Because of the order I did things, she spent the vast majority of my game moping in the Roundtable basement.

As far as I'm aware, his army is Nepheli, Ensha, a Bloodhound Knight, an Omen Killer, a Perfumer, and at least one standard soldier.
He doesn’t even need an army. That boy has high-skill magic and is also a bit tanky. He is his own army.

@@zenebean funnily enough, the game also implies that Gideon seeks knowledge from our adventures and uses them to learn new sorceries and incantations. If you fight Gideon without having beaten Rennala, he would not use comet azur. Similarly for scarlet aeonia, blood boon and rykard's rancor.
I think the Storm Lord was actually the Stormhawk King. The ashes say “revered by all others as sovereign” not just “all hawks”. I’d consider it less likely that all people recognize the sovereignty of the king of storm hawks if they’re not from the land of Stormveil, themselves.
Also it makes sense to me for the Stormhawk king to be in control of the storm of Stormveil.
It’s interesting to consider the storm lord as a bird, but it kind of makes sense. Strormy winds aren’t the best for bipedal people, but would be great for a bird that can command the winds it flies upon.

If Gideon is using the scarabs like a CCTV, then he has eyes inside the Helegetree. There is a Crimson Scarab just outside the door where you can get the Cleanrot Knight Ashes.
Yea it's lore breaking which makes me think that's not it, and at the same time the minor erdtree in Limgrave is absolutely covered in scarabs for no reason so why would he be so interested in that tree?

If i remember correctly, an interesting cut content was that stormveil castle was meant to have 3 possible endings. The treacherous wrinkled dude that stomps on godrick, Kenneith Haight, and Nepheli were all meant to be possible lords but I don't remember which video I watched this from, possibly from Zulie.
I'm fairly sure it changes if you turn her into a puppet at seluvis' behest, but I don't know how as I could never force myself to be cruel to one of the most wholesome characters in from games.

You are truly the lore mommy. i love these videos ! its interesting that they cut so much of elden ring when so much seams atleast not to go against the story that we have now. so many cut quest adn dialogs that would have given us some small answers or more information. Love this questline !!
In the intro cutscene when Gideon is introduced. His coffin is filled with eyeballs and ears so I fully believe he’s the all-knowing and all-hearing

Your lore videos are so unbelievably informative of games that I love and so incredibly soothing at the same time ^_^, I would absolutely adore an ASMR story time video with just you reading out stories from either gaming lore or anything you find truly fun to read.
My only issue with this quest is how difficult it is too actually complete you can find the stormhawk easily enough but knowing to give it to Nepheli is not, also you need to somehow know to go to Godricks site of grace rest there twice to make her move there to then complete her quest... M'kay... Great video as always Miss Chalice.
You really need guides for these questlines. It's hard to know exactly how players will progress in an open world, so I get it being hard to have the NPC's appear in places we will naturally find them. Sometimes characters seem obscurely placed even then though. I wish more characters clearly hinted at where you can find them next at least.
Yeah I actually figured out almost every quest without assistance except for Nepheli’s. I only realized I had failed it once she disappeared from round table and finally I googled where she went.
That's FromSoft games in a nutshell.
And people somehow defend it. lol

I think if you go off of many anime examples, it is possible that Loux is a clan/tribe name. There are various examples of goblin, ogre, beastmen that are part of less civilized tribes/clans that share a similar naming tradition as a sur name. Though it is possible they might not have a blood relation, I would find it difficult to believe that Nepheli is not blood related to either the storm king or Hoarah Loux and maybe even both.
I had the same thought. They all might be from the same tribe of savages, and challenged each other for the position of a chieftain.

As a cosplay photographer I definitely love the effort you put in to cosplay as the characters as well as how great your explaining of the lore is. I always thought that the “storm lord” was referring to dragonlord placidusax as Godfrey fought him and cut off his other heads and we do fight placidusax in a storm

Gideon is also one of GRRM's favourite character types, the all-knowing spymaster, exemplified by Varys in the Ice and Fire world with his little birds everywhere. Amusingly, his armour recalls a portrait of Elizabeth I where her dress is decorated with eyes and ears to symbolise her power and knowledge.
When Nepheli says Godric "tainted the very winds" I wonder if thats a hint to the grafting of the stormhawks?

So many of these facets of the storytelling were lost on me when playing a lot of the game. I love these videos that you do, it really pulls the stories together and gives even more life to the gaming world. 🥰
When Gideon says Ensha got ahead of himself, I understood that as he was supposed to wait until we have both halves of the medallion.
REALLY wish if you summoned Nepheli for the Gofrey fight, that she used the Stormhawk King's Spirit Ashes during the fight, and perhaps even had a line or two of dialogue to go with the summon.
Perhaps, the first time you summon her for it, you'd even get an additional part to the cutscene, similar to how Seigmyer in DSIII has a cutscene for facing Yorhm with him!
You have to defeat Godrick to be able to advance her quest to that point.

i dont know why but finding out that she used to keep a stormhawk as a pet endears me to her, she definitely has a sweeter side that Gideon has meticulously tried silence.

Gideon's a ruthless spymaster and manipulator with eyes and ears everywhere but at the same time he has to bend double over a table to read a book because he hasn't thought to take off his helmet so he can see better.
Keep up the great work. While the cosplays are great, it is the audio that really captivates me. I have tried to endure other lore videos... but very few creaters manage to deliver it in a way that I actually listen to it all. It might sound like a criticism, but your content has put me to sleep. I would say this is praise - its the soothing relaxing audio that puts me at ease. You also fill in the many gaps of my knowledge of the lore in Elden Ring and bring new insights that I had not considered. Earned yourself a new sub.

Nepheli's story seems like it would have been really fantastic and a lot of pieces were cut out of the game, or forgotten. My guess regarding the connection between nepheli and Godfrey was the "Loux" isn't a last name but rather a title for one who is a warrior
I came upon one of your videos for the first time about 2 days ago and I instantly subscribed - not because of something specific you did or said, but because the way the video was setup reminded me a lot about people like VaatiVidya, Ashen Hollow and Silver Mont; it's not just the content itself, but the storytelling! I noticed something about the all-hearing, I don't really know if it's redundant or maybe important. It's what Latenna says when encountering her behind Lakside Crystal Cave, "I presumed the worst, seeing that you were another Tarnished, like that all-hearing brute.", inferring that the one behind the slaughtering of the albinauric village, Gideon, is probably also the all-hearing
I discovered your channel literally yesterday. I binged watched (well, rather listened while I was working) a lot of your videos. I know yours is not an ASMR channel, but 90% of those "relaxation" channels should learn from you and the way you use your voice. It's so soothing and projects peacefulness.

I could never figure out how to finish her quest.
In the first few weeks it was impossible to finish her quest. You could give her the bird ashes, but nothing would happen after that. The rest of the quest was patched in later.
I was also stuck on triggering the last step where she moves back to the castle. Turns out you have to activate Godrick's Great Rune at the tower! It's not enough that you just have it. Such a weird prerequisite!

The detail about the Scarab and Gideon is very interesting but it can't be like a CCTV system because you find them around the forsaken snowfields and the haligtree. This contradicts the idea that Gideon is desperate to get the medallion because he'd already know what's going on inside there and wouldn't necessarily need to go there himself.

I actually named and designed one of my Elden Ring characters off of Nepheli and her lore. Kind of like an intermediate relative between Horah and Nepheli.
But, for some reason, Nepheli won't leave the roundtable hold in that play file. I gave her the ashes and did all the other requirements, but she just doesn't move from the bottom of those stairs.
Have you activated Godrick's Great Rune at the Limgrave Divine tower? That was the thing that stopped her from moving for me!

I haven't burned the Erd tree with that character yet. Does she move before or after that?
@PonchoWizard she will move before you burn the Erdtree, in fact that is a failure point! Some other things I can think of are:
-Exhausting all the dialogue for Nepheli, Gideon, Kenneth and Gostoc.
-If Gostoc is dead, that's also fine. Make sure the Stormveil gate has been opened. You can open this yourself if Gostoc is dead.
- Defeat Morgott
- Rest at the Lake Facing Cliffs

@@ponchowizard5182 If you've exhausted all dialogue with Nepheli, Kenneth and Gostoc (if you kept them alive), talk with them all once more just to be sure. Then reach a certain point in Farum Azula (don't exactly remember which, but I thought it was further than just arriving there), then go to the Godrick the Grafted grace. Wait there and see if Gostoc moved from stomping on Godrick. If he hasn't, walk to the Secluded Cell grace and then wait there and walk back. If Gostoc isn't alive, instead of seeing if he's stomping, you'll have to go inside the throne room to see if they moved.
For some reason there's something really finnicky with triggering these events, but following these steps as a last resort has worked 100% of the time for me over different characters and different patches at least. Hope it works for you too!
Edit: Thinking about it some more, I believe the specific point in Farum Azula to trigger things was beating the Godskin Duo and activating their grace
I had to juggle a few rests at some of the key sites of grace in the castle to finally get the 3 characters to appear in the throne room. It annoyed me as I had done everything else for her questline. Miss Chalice does also provide a few other must try things. I find her quest can be a bit flaky at times. I had to have Nepheli on the throne before I did away with the Greater Will and eloped with Ranni.
