This is my favorite story line in the game, it's just so evocative and relatable... also it involves Jar Bairn, who is perfect. I wonder if Diallos being a Numen could be why he was ahead of Juno in line to rule the house. Maybe they're half brothers, and Diallos' noble Numen heritage would have entitled him to be first in line.

@@killerjoke2945 In the good old days, the map had a non-existent road to Jarburg from the study hall, and my intrigue over the map being inaccurate led me to where that road was going. Now the main hook is an easily missable segment of Alexander's questline in between the Radahn Festival and Mt. Gelmir
In the original release version of the game there were issues with the Diallos questline. I missed him entirely until later patches fixed an issue with him and I found him later in a different playthrough.
The Numen connection between Hoslow and Marika was spot on in hindsight with everything we know in the DLC. Now that we know the jars and Marika are so closely related, it makes sense Hoslow could become a potentate because of their shared Numen blood. Really cool when Elden Ring lore makes sense for once lol
i had literally no idea there was an area in the game with little Pots everywhere, i have to go there RIGHT NOW THIS IS INSANE!! I lvoe the pots so much, thank you for making this the farthest i've gotten on Diallo's quest was me talking to him in the manor and that was about it i never knew how deep this quest was, this is amazing!
I love the naming conventions in this game, so thank you for that very interesting bit in particular. Something neat I noticed a while back was the name of Dung Eater’s “Sword of Milos” can be associated with the Greek name that means “Lover of glory” (an appropriate name for a sword), but also with the Slavic name Miloš which ironically means “gentle”. Also the fact that the sword was crafted from an undersized giant’s spine could be a play on a “gentle giant”. This game never ceases to amaze me in its level of detail…
Watching this after the DLC and its so fitting that Diallos is Numen and after his death his body gets used to fuel Jar Bairn. No way we could have realized the significance of that within this npc quest before the DLC, but in hindsight it's pretty cool.
Thank you! It feels a bit cruel to say "I glad I made you cry!" but I'm happy my telling of this story resonated with you. That's all I could ask for :)
Whenever I do themed runs in the game, I always do a hoslow run because I absolutely love everything about their lore and aesthetic. It’s all just so interesting to me
Iron Fist Alexander and Diallos are almost foils of one another. Alexander was a good hearted fellow who did all he could to become as mighty a Jar as any could, ending with you sending him off as the warrior he always wished to be, while Diallos, through his own journey, found the strength in being gentle towards family and the meek, and the courage to lay your life for those you love. Jar Bairn, holding both within hisself, I have no doubts, will be able to hold these two convictions in harmony, and the converged end of these two questlines leaves one of the few but nevertheless shining beacons of hope for the Lands Between. It’s truly beautiful storytelling
Thank you so much for taking the time to make your videos the way you do. I love the dedication, and effort you put in them (the cosplay ones are my favorites). This one and the Master Hewg's, made me tear up a little bit tbh. Again thank you 😊
I really shouldn’t have watched this while on my period because I actually started crying at the Jarburg section. Gentle Diallos finally finding his home and dying protecting them, saving a child who then wants to carry on his legacy. Your analysis and narration is incredible
I was very moved by diallo’s storyline I decided it’d have a great impact on my elden ring character. I started as a roisoner and decided to keep the weird helmet as far as I could, as if the character, moved by remorse against the world, wanted to make his origins clear, he wanted his enemies to know who slain them, the lowly prisoner will one day sit on the throne. But diallos’ story changed him, already deep into the story and developed as a character, when he finds the fellow tarnished dead, protecting the little town and the people that opened their doors to him, the tarnished finally puts down the prisoner helmet, and now bears the bloodied mask of Hoslow
Shit backstory. The backstory of my characters are way better. The backstory of the character in my first and currently only build guide is that she is a foreign princess and a blood priestess sent to the lands between to become Elden Lord. She uses blood magic to strengthen her weapons and absorb the vital energies of humanoid opps. Her men were all killed off by the grafted scion at the beginning. It’s alright because her men abused and violated her for her powers.
@@AutismGaming489 oh my character used blood arts too, but just because he’s kinda unwell in the head and goes for a health challenging fighting style for the added power and just dives headfirst into fights like a wild animal, one of his attacks is that flask that makes you explode
Won't ever get tired of your lore vids. Your vice is uniquely interesting and calmly and your lore explanations are clear and concise yet full of information without being boring.
Brought tears to my eyes again. The moment Diallos was passing I just couldn’t. I had to take a break from the game because all the misfortune, especially after Blaïdd and Iji, just got the better me. I could only aspire to be half as great as these guys. 😢
I've stopped playing ER a while ago, moved on to other games... But I'll never say no to a Miss Chalice Prod's video! Thanks to the great quality and storytelling you've developed, one could likely enjoy your content without having played the game :)
I've been watching a bunch of lore videos to freshen up before the DLC, and your videos have been fantastic to watch! Your storytelling voice is captivating, and you manage to encompass all the information within a perfect amount of time, making the videos easy to follow. Incredible work!⭐ Thank you for making these!
Absolute incredible, your elden ring videos are something else. For everything I wasn't paying too much attention or simply didn't understand nor had the time to... you covered it all. Thank you for making those videos, they rly help to bring the lore closer.
Most well done, madam. 1 You've made me cry (in a good way, I promise) by sheer storytelling talent alone. 2 I think I've found the person to migrate to after Vati's transition to more flashy videos. What I want is someone with a very pleasant voice to talk about the games' lore, not a flashy presentation that takes away from the narration and you hit the nail on the head. Thank you very much. :D
Your level of empathy for this character brought me to tears at one point. Highly unexpected but also highly appreciated. You have a masterful gift for doing this.
I’m so glad I stumbled upon your lore videos! It’s been a few days now and as an Elden Ring fan this has been THE bedtime stories I look forward too right before sleeping.
This was probably my most favorite lore video ever. I haven't watched them in some time other than seeing vaatis, but I really think yours is far better. The presentation, cadence etc
Wow, you've made Dialos' story even more tragic and sad than it already was. That's impressive. And I'm nearly certain that you've deciphered the clues correctly. Thank you.
Love these videos I’ve played hundreds of hours of elden ring and I can’t believe I missed this quest line brilliantly narrated I genuinely felt a feeling of sadness seeing diallos’s end after seeing him finally have a feeling of pride
I've downloaded the game, played about 10 minutes, but I've watched about 40 hrs of lore. I just want to run around and read inscriptions. Thanks for this content!
I wish there was a questline to keep track of the hints and lore in this game. So much amazing lore given so pointedly, leaving much mystery. Ive rediscovered this game through videos of lore, incredible.
I love Diallos. He’s a fool And a braggart, vain about the family he was born into, can’t live up to his word, and does horrible things for bad reasons… and he grows up. Repents. Becomes humble … and yet, when the chips are down he stands up for his _chosen_ family, lays down his life to protect them. I hated him halfway thru his quest, and as I said, I loved him by the end. I hope his guts go on to do glorious things inside Jar Bairn the Warrior 😅
Diallos in my opinion is one of the most relatable characters of From Software's games ever, I'm genuinely fond of him. Great work, first time seeing one of your videos, definetly subscribing!
I played through this questline on my second playthrough, and only with the fullsome help of the internet. Thanks for fleshing it out Miss Chalice; the tale of house Hounslow is told in a turtleneck ;). Glad for you that Vaati shouted you out lately, well deserved.
So happy for this video. Because of a bug I wasn't able to see Diallos in Jarburg and I was finally able to see the end of the quest with your video. Diallos is a great character.
The coolest thing also. Is that when you do the contract on Juno from Volcano Mannor. You are actually going back in time to when Juno was laying waste to the Mountaintop Of The Giants! Invading seriously irks the Elden Ring Timeline.
Never knew his quest went past the fight with his brother and his leaving the volcano manner, always impressed that there's thing i still don't know existed in this game even after hundreds of hours in game time.
So glad to see how the poll swayed. These videos are fantastic. The Hoslow storyline is so fascinating from start to finish, it constantly caught me off guard how completely different questlines I got invested in somehow kept putting me right in the face of this man and his naïveté. This format helps remember and conceptualize all the different events. That said, I hope the other options get some love too. Enjoying the character/quest lore most doesn’t mean we all wouldn’t enjoy the others now and then.
Dialos is a Numen?? Mindblown. AGAIN! I can't believe I missed that connection 😳 🤯 Yes that was my brain blown up from the sudden hike of insight 😂 Well done, Ms. Chalice. I would forever see Dialos as a weaker second son lacking potential if it weren't for you. Thank you 👏🏼
What makes this particularly touching is that Jar-Bairn isn’t impressed by Diallos at first. But he still harvests his corpse. Jar warriors only harvest those they perceive as strong.
Was very moving to hear your depiction of this story, one which I quite enjoyed while playing but have found more emotionally impactful when put together in this way. Very enjoyable and impressive.
When I find Diallos settle himself in the Jarburg, I feel quite released. So eased that I almost forgot this is Miyazaki's work. There won't be happy end, will it? - I wonder. Sadly, there won't be.
Thank you so so much for your generosity and kind words! Really pleased you enjoyed ! And yes, he is easy to miss despite having such an extravagant appearance!
Another great video! I love to listen to you tell these tales. The stories in Elden Ring are so deep and winding and I miss so much about them, getting to listen to you recount them and reveal all these deeper ideas in your soothing voice is always a treat. Keep 'em coming!
ugh. You're just so incredibly intelligent, feminine, sweet, sincere, solemn, graceful, authentic. Then, this game has such solemn, sincere, tragic stories. Every outfit I've seen you try has worked so well, and just, you. You work so well for this. I'm glad you've got something planned. I feel like anything that gave you a sort of solemn dark, deep world, would let you be a professional sad and weary yet light of the world level cheerfulness.
I wish I had friends that played Elden Ring. None of my boyfriends (we are in a relatioship of three) like Elden Ring. I have no one to talk about the lore, designs and neither play with. These videos are a bliss since Miss Chalice writes them in a way that it ends up looking like a face to face conversartion. It is so cool! Thanks for the work!
one interesting thing of note that seems to be looked over is that he is from a noble house with a seemingly long history and is a tarnished. assuming he is a descendant of a tarnished. shows just how much time passed between godfreys army being tarnished and clarifies how these tarnished rlly js had their own lives even lineages outside the lands between like horah loux chieftan of the badlands
I love that this story is all about what the family creed means. To Dialos it's something to aspire too, as he is naive to what it means to kill let alone work a day in his life. It's why the make a point of mentioning his Pale skin and soft hands, he was born into money without the need to earn it. To his brother it carries a different weight, it's the recognition of the lives he and the family as a whole have ended to get where they are. I imagine the way Diallos almost proudly spits out the words at first to be almost a memory of how his brother emphasized the weight of the family creed. To Juno he was trying to say the family is built on blood but you don't have to be, never forget and always try for better, but Diallos heard that vengeance, blood, and violence is foundational for respect in the house. All of that culminating in Jar bairn taking the phrase in new light, making true Junos wishes and redeeming Diallos by becoming a Protector, the family creed becoming a call to act in defense. Personally I see the Numen rune as just being a play on words, "Numen" sounding like "New Man" as Diallos has fundamentally grown and changed for the better by the end of his story
Joking aside, after VaatiVidya himself you definitely make the best Lore videos. The facts that you're so beautiful and your voice is so soothing also help of course
BTW i just noticed this incredibly subtle detail about the Jar Warriors; they change personality based on the warriors they consume. for example, when Alexander consumes the remains of Radahn, he becomes obsessed with achieving an honorable warrior's death (moreso than before this point in the story) and this happens to Jar Bairn as well when he consumes Diallos's remains; he becomes all talk and no walk! "i'm going to set out on a great journey and protect the innocent... just not right now, coz"
What's interesting is the House Hoslow helms look a lot like the Marais Mask, which has braid similar to Marika, further hinting at the shared Numen origin.
I dont ever recall seeing this dude at the Roundtable Hold. Guess its time for a new playthrough. Really looking forward to all of future content. Both ER and non-ER related.

I just did it a couple days ago. I didn’t expect that Jar to say that.
A most beautiful explanation of my most favored quest in Elden Ring. Truly magnificent!
This was a great video, beautifully told. It even made me tear up 😢
Thank you! It feels a bit cruel to say "I glad I made you cry!" but I'm happy my telling of this story resonated with you. That's all I could ask for :)
@@miss_chalice Normally I would agree, but for me personally I'm actually happy being able to cry. So thank you for making me cry 😅
Recently, I have found a few youtube channels I consider damn near criminally underrated, and you are indeed one of them. High Quality as always!
sitting here in tears, love your delivery of souls lore. Please continue on doing these.Would love to see you go back to other souls games as well.
Hell yeah. Everyone’s favorite lore queen is back at it again with her amazing voice and content.
@@diegovera1353 You an arcane/intelligence build?
@@AutismGaming489 kind of? Idk, I used arcane/dex but have some stats on intelligence because of spells I wanted to use
@@diegovera1353 You gotta check out my early game arcane build guide on my channel. It is actually pretty decent.
I really like how I could tell your voice was getting kinda shaky at points, at points where the tale and lore got sad and emotional. It really hit
Won't ever get tired of your lore vids. Your vice is uniquely interesting and calmly and your lore explanations are clear and concise yet full of information without being boring.
Woah, this story is emotionally riveting and easy to relate to. Wow.
Incredible work!⭐
Thank you for making these!
Damn i never got too far on his quest line....your video actually made me cry ...thank you for telling this stories ❤
I always wondered whatever happened to this guy. I completely missed him in my playthrough. Never found him in Liurnia.
Damn, the story was way more touching than I thought it was going to be. Solid presentation. From Soft’s writers are pretty legendary at this point.
One of best fashions in the game. That Dialos armor is top notch. Great video Miss Chalice!
Absolute incredible, your elden ring videos are something else.
For everything I wasn't paying too much attention or simply didn't understand nor had the time to... you covered it all.
Thank you for making those videos, they rly help to bring the lore closer.
One of the most beautiful spoken stories in this game, not gonna lie I was teary eyed
Seriously great job with this. I had no idea. Your videos enrich this game so much for me and im already enthralled in it.
"Don't you worry, I have some BIG plans." Can't wait for the Armored Core cosplay 😄
Would be hilarious to see her roll up in a full cardboard mech outfit and start talking about the tragedy of Rusty or something.
I cried the first time I experienced Diallos story and this video made me relive that. Such a beautiful yet tragic end to such a great character.
You're a amazing story teller, and have a amazing work of showing the story of characters we missed in our playthrough 🙏
"that's the kind of warrior I want to be one day, coz" always gives me chills. Diallos had a phenomenal character arc.
This is one my favorite stories of the game.. It's so sad, but when you understand the depth of it. It has such a powerful meaning.
You and Vatiividya are some of my favorite Elden Ring lore channels
He’s a fool And a braggart, vain about the family he was born into, can’t live up to his word, and does horrible things for bad reasons…
and he grows up. Repents. Becomes humble …
and yet, when the chips are down he stands up for his _chosen_ family, lays down his life to protect them.
I hated him halfway thru his quest, and as I said, I loved him by the end.
I hope his guts go on to do glorious things inside Jar Bairn the Warrior 😅
There’s already some sick lore vids on this story and you still brought a new perspective to this storyline. Pure heat.
This was precious! I had no idea all the seemingly out of place story elements make sense put together! Thanks for doing this.
I love her. She makes storytelling so engaging, and her voice is phenomenal. I put her videos on and just listen. When I lie down in thought.
I am astounded by how soothing your voice manages to be when talking of the land between
Thanks for breaking down this questline. Despite playing over 1,100 hours myself, I've never done his quest in full. :)
Dialos is a Numen?? Mindblown. AGAIN!
I can't believe I missed that connection 😳
🤯 Yes that was my brain blown up from the sudden hike of insight 😂
Well done, Ms.
What a beautiful and tragic tale. And as always, exquisitely told.
I would do anything to listen to you read me stories every night. Such a comforting and elegant speaker 😌
When I find Diallos settle himself in the Jarburg, I feel quite released. So eased that I almost forgot this is Miyazaki's work. There won't be happy end, will it? - I wonder. Sadly, there won't be.
I absolutely love your voice. So calm and soothing, even when describing terrible events.
Impressive research and presentation. I couldn't find this character at all in my playthrough.
This was absolutely beautiful and the conclusion was moving, thank you for the video
Kay. She won’t date you.
@@AutismGaming489 True, but is one single word of what I said untrue? Not in opinion.
I have watched a lot of lore vids but haven’t seen any on Hoslow. Or if I have it wasn’t told nearly as good as this. Great job!!!
your voice is one of the best things i have ever heard. really peaceful
Turtleneck! Now I can actually appreciate the actual lore and narration instead of being deafened by blood pumping to my head.
Bruh lol
Joking aside, after VaatiVidya himself you definitely make the best Lore videos. The facts that you're so beautiful and your voice is so soothing also help of course
Totally missed this guy
So glad the Lore Daddy himself Vaati gave you a shout out. It would be amazing for you both to collaborate on a project at some point… It would be total atmospheric ASMR overload.
Keep up the amazing work Miss Chalice. The community you formed here are incredibly proud of you and the fantastic content you keep delivering 😃
I can’t hurt Boggart, he’s like the only person in this forsaken place who has any amount of chill, the boiled crab is obviously a nice perk of his friendship as well:)
22:50 - (until the end) This literally made me bawl like a baby.
I love your videos and I'm so sad I didn't see this one until now. Probably my new favorite and was so worth crying the last 10min of the video 😭🤍
As someone who also has hated their hands their whole life and who often feels like a directionless fool... This ending got to me big time😢❤
I cannot thank you enough for the brilliant way you articulate so much information while presenting it in a calm story book way that makes us understand, follow along without getting lost, so we call learn more about the deep rich lore presented in such a fantasticly whimsical way.
Thank you, so much
ah a beautifully crafted and informative video. Love your work, covering the information so well and at a pace i really enjoy.
"the tale of house Hoslow is told in blood. coz"
