Phil sounds great. I've always thought that The guys from Def Leppard had better harmonies than any band from the 80's
+Stephen Hill - they do sound great, I'd put the Eagles right up there
King's X were great for harmonies with only 3 people in the band. A little different than Def Leppard, though. If you were curious, good starter songs are Over My head, Summerland and It's Love.
Stephen Hill Well Firehouse was pretty good on harmonies.

A rock treasure. Both Phil and the band are criminally underrated. Keith and Ron. Walsh and Felder. Phil and Steve. Stuart Adamson / Bruce Watson (Big Country.) Slash and Izzy. Keith Scott and Bryan Adams. Among the most melodic, creatively brilliant and least redundant guitar pairings in modern rock imo. They selflessly served the songs and made every part count with maximum efficiency, independence and effect. At no point were any two players replicating each other or lazily walking over each other's parts. Every part felt purposeful and meticulously choreographed & prepared to serve the track and not the players' own self-indulgence or internal competition.

He really is a good singer, as are all of Def Leppard. In songs such as "Love Bites", when they first sing "I don't want to touch you too much baby" to the end of the chorus (my favourite part of the song), their voices blend perfect together and it sounds beautiful.

I'm always amazed when I hear songs like this played acoustically. With some much overlay and distortion in the originals (not taking anything away from them, mind you, they're GREAT), it's hard to believe that most were actually written on acoustic. Hearing those songs performed how they were written is a real treat.

If you've seen Def Leppard live lately Phil sings a lot.
It’s always been the same. They haven’t changed, although they can do acoustic sets with either Joe and sav or Joe and Phil doing primary vocals. It’s generally sav (and sometimes Viv as work) doing backing verse vocals and Phil doing primary chorus backup vocals (often with sav and Viv) as well. At times in the past Rick Allen would occasionally do backup vocals as well but not often.
I believe Phil is primary backup on chorus because of his power. Sav does the verses bc he blends very well with Joe (so does Viv)… when they amp up verses it’s usually Joe, then Joe and sav, then Joe, sav, and Viv.
I can feel his feelings of getting back to the hysteria moment when he played and sing the song

One of the key factors of Def Leppard is that almost every member of the band has the singing values of a lead singer. I think Phil, Vivian, and Sav are great singers too, and this guarantees great choruses in every song.
