Thank you. For the last 3 years after getting our 2011 Wrangler I've been trying to convince my husband that taking the doors off was easy. Now I can prove it and will do it myself if he doesn't. I don't need a man for this!! LOL
It's a good idea to tell the customer to put some 4" Painter's Tape around the hinges and under the bottom edge of the door BEFORE attempting to remove the door. This will protect the paint if the wrench slips a little and the bottom edge paint whilst the door is touching the floor. It only takes a few seconds to apply, but it helps prevent paint chips that will lead to rust appearing.
Rolling down the windows makes it easier (for me anyway) to lift the door off the hinge without having the door hit the body panel and scratch the new paint, because them doors are heavy and with a bad shoulder it is not an easy task otherwise.
Agree with some other comments re: the tool hitting the body...and hopefully there is something on the ground to protect the bottom of the door!! I don't think I would like to be the person to buy the Jeep that was toyed with by a car salesman. The concept of the tutorial is good enough...but sure better be careful. Also, need to mention making SURE when you disconnect the hinge strap the door does not swing open and hit the cowl. Most Jeeps have a little 'dimple' there (including mine) and a salesperson should make that a point of caution!!
What happens when your cheap metal bushings are rusted tight? Mine is an '07. Dealer wants $600.00 to replace the hinges cause THEY can't even get the doors off!
I have a 2014 Jeep JK Wrangler, and there is nothing for my T-50 to grab onto. I took a picture up inside my hinge, and there is a bolt about 1/2" up inside, but using every socket I have, none would grab on! I took a pic of it, but I don't know how to add it in my comment to show you. Very frustrating! Any advice?
One thing I never understood with every Jeep I've owner. Why don't they put the mirrors on the fender wall instead of the door (that you take off). When you remove the door, you remove the mirrors. Yes, you have better vision, but I've had cars zoom up on me quick that I didn't see because I had no mirrors.
CAN YOU HELP ME TO EXPLAIN SOMETHING YOU SAID IN THIS VIDEO, THAT LITERALLY MADE SENSE. You contradicted yourself in the same sentence. Help me make it make sense. This is what you said: “This nut is simply to keep ppl from stealing your doors if you were to leave them hanging around and UNLOCKED. But as long as the DOORS ARE LOCKED, it’s impossible to steal the doors without these on there”
2012 Wrangler Sport here, and same! I can't get these bastards to come apart! No matter which direction I move the little red tab, they aren't friggin coming! Did you find a solution?
We have manual windows/doors so I don't understand why there's an electical component to unplug..can anyone explain??? This jeep had manual windows too..
every jeep after market company has about a dozen different model mirrors is that mount in the hinge or further forward. amazon has about 30 different ones. If doors are off for just short jaunts just get $10 harley mirrors. they fit perfect in the hinge and satisfy legal requirements. If you ride a lot with the doors off spend a bit more to get ones that wont vibrate and move too much
I've always wondered, why do people take their doors off their Wranglers? I can't think of any other off-road vehicle that this is popular with besides the Wrangler. Is it just for the way it looks, or is there another reason for doing this?
+Aura Wolf Easy bail out if you screw up, better to just jump out and cry than bash your head off the window, dash, or wheel and harm your self more than just your pocket.
Sam Naps Laws vary by state, so you'll want to check your local laws. A good place to start is www.DMV.org. It has some good resources on finding your local vehicle laws and regulations.
Went to my local ace hardware and couldn't find a torque socket... They had torque sockets but they were not the same shape as what fits in the jeep door hinges, does anyone know where I can find this type of torque socket?
Kevin H 2 months have passed and I know why now. It it because it secures the window in the door frame housing. It is just a safer practice than leaving them exposed.
Stewart Really? I thought it was so you can hang the door on a wall hanger through the opening where the glass is. Also, fold side mirrors in to help with storage.
Nathan Hite I had to take it to a dealer and they did it for me! After they did it. I put 4D40 and I can do it every time now! James t have the dealer do it the 1st time! Took like 3 dudes to do it so I didn’t feel bad lol
I locked my key in my 2013 recently...I just unzipped the window, reached in and unlocked the door. Presence of a door isn't going to make much of a difference. "It's a Jeep thing"
Lies!!! Everything on a Jeep cannot be removed with a torx rachet set.. you need a plethera of tools.. such as a vast majority of the jeep is 16mm and 21mm..
I like these no nonsense tutorials. We don't need a 2 minute intro. Just show us how to take the doors off. Great!
AMEN
I've driven 1.75 years w/ no bushing nut on the bottom of my door hinges. Drop them on and go.
Exact same reason I clicked on this video!
Exactly! Straight to the point! Love it!
Exactly
Thank you. For the last 3 years after getting our 2011 Wrangler I've been trying to convince my husband that taking the doors off was easy. Now I can prove it and will do it myself if he doesn't. I don't need a man for this!! LOL
Jingle Jangle It's very easy! You can do it!!
Catt astroficka you won’t be able to take the doors off dear! It’s not as easy as he did it
Gary Triano ya it is bud
He already knew, he's like a bunch of us lazy guys.
Dag nabbit internet!
Hearing the socket tap the door made me wince. Recommend wrapping tools with clean rag while doing this.
Or just tape around the socket and wrench

That’s crazy. U called a ratchet a wrench
It's a 'rachet wrench'............@@illestferio
I’d like to add a close up showing the wire disconnect
thank you for these videos...very helpful to new jeep owners!
***** You're welcome Terry! Let us know if you have any other questions!
Thank you for making this simple and to the point. 😊
Don't know what I would do without your videos!
Just got a 2007 wrangler the same color as this one and I’m lovin it
You finally get a quick video and he leaves out the most important part, what size TORK???
50
This is why i love jeeps
Everysingle part is easy af to remove
What size torques us that?
Probably a good idea to put something on the ground to protect the paint from getting scratched.
Nice job, easy to do. Thanks
What size torque does it need?
Straight to the point great video
Thats why jeeps are so damn expensive, they are literally a Lego car that can take any part with ease lol
This looks simple enough. I'm going to take mine off tomorrow but no doubt I'll need help with the hardtop.
Lift up and then take off the strap. But make sure you buy the little spring clip deals to keep your dome light off
Rolling down the windows makes it easier (for me anyway) to lift the door off the hinge without having the door hit the body panel and scratch the new paint, because them doors are heavy and with a bad shoulder it is not an easy task otherwise.
Great video! Any tips on storing the doors?

I don't need to post because you said exactly what I was thinking.
You need to give more explanation on how to remove the wires! I can’t get them off!
What happens when your cheap metal bushings are rusted tight? Mine is an '07. Dealer wants $600.00 to replace the hinges cause THEY can't even get the doors off!
You make it looks so easy thanks man 👍🏻
Thank you❤
Great video and super informative. Thank you!
0:00 what’s this song called?

do you need to put the mirrors back on the jeep from the door???
Troutaholic flo oh shit
Italian Troutaholic you can’t ride the Jeep with no side mirrors so YES
Shirt sweet and to the point!!❤

the half doors are so much nicer on jeeps.
I tried this but the door refuses to come off. any tips on how to loosen it once the nuts are off ? I don't want to dent or break anything
I use a floor jack and 2 x 4 evey spring to take the doors off, always got stuck hinge pins
CAN YOU HELP ME TO EXPLAIN SOMETHING YOU SAID IN THIS VIDEO, THAT LITERALLY MADE SENSE. You contradicted yourself in the same sentence. Help me make it make sense. This is what you said:
“This nut is simply to keep ppl from stealing your doors if you were to leave them hanging around and UNLOCKED. But as long as the DOORS ARE LOCKED, it’s impossible to steal the doors without these on there”
Because they rest on a pin. If you can't open the door, you can't lift it off the pin. So you can leave the nuts off the door hinge
It's so easy I love it
I have a 2013 JKU Rubicon and the electronic door clips are like torture to disconnect. Any advice?
2012 Wrangler Sport here, and same! I can't get these bastards to come apart! No matter which direction I move the little red tab, they aren't friggin coming! Did you find a solution?
What’s the name of this music?
Wait, you look your doors on a soft top?
Still helpful 2023
How do I get the step sides to come down after I take the doors off
Stewart its to keep the window from cracking if the door fals over
If the window is up you can’t carry it or hang it on a wall mount.
Does the "door open" dash light stay on while the doors are off and is there a jumper plug available to "fool" the sensor?
Wuggly Ump well it's not wrong
what but don't you need the mirrors to legally drive that on the road?
thanks it look so easy
I am wondering if it is possible to get a jeep with the half doors and still be able to take the top off. Answers?
I have half doors and can take the top off. Mine is a soft top though.
On a hard top there is a couple screws along the side a some latches, just look up a hard top removal video.
We have manual windows/doors so I don't understand why there's an electical component to unplug..can anyone explain??? This jeep had manual windows too..
Probably for the locks
Trevor thx for the reply. I don’t have power locks. Based on my research there is still an electrical connection because it signals when door is ajar.
Yeah that's probably it
Nice.
how do you leave the side mirrors on there???? im in pa and i think i need to have the mirrors on the side so i dont get pulled over
ncarter124 Who sells it?
every jeep after market company has about a dozen different model mirrors is that mount in the hinge or further forward. amazon has about 30 different ones. +el tiburon I agree it's nice to feel the breeze even with the doors off !
Because we can.
Can you remove the doors off of the hard top jeep wranglers as well?
April Watkins yes
Yes you can. They aren't connected to the hard top.
Is it legal to ride on the roads with the doors off (mirrors off too)?
Sam Naps Laws vary by state, so you'll want to check your local laws. A good place to start is www.DMV.org. It has some good resources on finding your local vehicle laws and regulations.
Most cops won't bust balls long as you got belt on and keep your left foot inside
legal in 45 states
My door is stuck what to do
Too bad they don't come off that easily mine dont move at all thought something was gonna break so i stopped
What size torque sockets do we need???
+Drico Jones 50
Went to my local ace hardware and couldn't find a torque socket... They had torque sockets but they were not the same shape as what fits in the jeep door hinges, does anyone know where I can find this type of torque socket?
Your Jeep should have come with a mini socket set that contains everything you need. Check your console.
Grandpas 15 is missing it as well Ive looked everywhere and now I'm just trying to buy one
Chris W shoulda came with your Jeep!
Thanks
can't unplug the electrical on 2011 2 door wrangler sport help
machimaish slide the red lock on the plug all the way to the side.
what size tork
where are the mirrors when you took the doors off ?
umm, on the door?
How do you keep your battery from dying?
Turn the dimmer switch completely off
With no door sensor your lights don't come on.. you don't do anything with your dimmer switch.. other person is a tard..
wow didnt realize it was this easy
Markus Reyes it’s NOT that easy
Why do you have to role down the windows?
I'd like to know why as well.
To make it easier to carry around
Can this be done on a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited?
yes
Ready to go play outside
Hahaha I wish it was that easy! I bought a Jeep and the door won’t even budge to come off!!!
Gary Triano same
Nathan Hite I had to take it to a dealer and they did it for me! After they did it. I put 4D40 and I can do it every time now! James t have the dealer do it the 1st time! Took like 3 dudes to do it so I didn’t feel bad lol
Try opening the door perpendicular to car before lifting it.
And now you have no mirrors folks!
You buy ones that go inside without doors
this is why god created a neck😱
This is something you can't do on a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen
Really dude?? You're gonna bang the ratchet against the door as you remove the locknut? At least hold a cloth there or something. Wow.
yea lets just slam the ratchet against the body... wtg
i like to take my hard top off and my doors, because my dog likes to stick his head out the roof. =P
They make it look very easy. And it's not!
But putting it on is whats hard because the ignorant engineers made both of the pins the same length....dont you just hate stupid engineers.....
What's the point this makes it 10 times more easy to steal your jeep
Its so when you go mudding or offroad, the door doesnt get in your way, dumbass
+josh cowan It's pretty easy to steal most Jeeps in the first place, they have canvass tops.
I locked my key in my 2013 recently...I just unzipped the window, reached in and unlocked the door. Presence of a door isn't going to make much of a difference. "It's a Jeep thing"
it does not make it any easier to steal a jeep. If you have a hex you can remove doors anyway
You forgot Drop it on your toe and cry like a girlyman!
Lies!!! Everything on a Jeep cannot be removed with a torx rachet set.. you need a plethera of tools.. such as a vast majority of the jeep is 16mm and 21mm..
