@@Dosbomber my dad had a jk, when we took off the doors he got one of those memory foam pieces and stuffed it in between so if he forgot to hold it, it wouldn't leave a dent
Good thing for TH-cam! I just ordered my first jeep yesterday & I’m learning as much as I can, but the quick visuals of these videos make it so easy. Didn’t know what I needed to take off the doors & top & watching the videos, it’s less intimidating as I thought. Always wanted a jeep so I’m really excited!
Yeah, but does the window roll all the way down in the back? The weakest point of tempered glass is its edge. It would be safer up if they don’t fully retract.
Wow. That simple- Edit: If I had one of these, I'd remove the backdoors and hardtop.. I think a wrangler without backdoors, and the hardtop looks pretty dope.
Remember, these doors are heavy because they have steel plates in them to protect passengers. So let's take those off....lol. Actually I have a Jeep and love driving around with the doors off
The harness is on ALL wranglers, for manual window and lock wranglers like both mine have been, it’s for the interior lights to go off when you close the doors, when the doors are off, they will just time out after a set amount of time
The only thing i have trouble with is the cable, that was literally the only point to me watching this video and you didn't show how to really do it at all lol so thanks.
A little tip for you guys or girls out there. If the doors haven’t been off for a while and they won’t move and you have side steps take a small car jack with something protect the bottom of the door. Don’t put the jack on the bottom of the crease in the door you will ruin it. Make sure the door open enough to remove the door so the door doesn’t hit the hinge because my got bend a little. Then you can lift it right off watch your toes from the jack falling hope this helps anyone
It's called a Torx Bit. It is not a pin and it is not a hex. The bolt is also not called a pin and you don't unturn it you unscrew it. The strap is not the only thing holding the door on. It doesn't hold the door on at all. It's purpose is to prevent the door from swinging open fully. The hinges are holding the door on. The door does not "free fall" forward. If it were to "free fall" that would be down. You have to open the door before you can pull it UP...DUH! Decapped???? This guy obviously has never done this before and he is trying to tell me how to do it. ROTFLMAO
All Jeep Wranglers will have the wiring harness. It's not just for the power windows and locks. It turns off the radio when you open the doors and the dome light. I don't have power windows or power locks on my 2011 2dr (JK) or my 2016 4 dr (JKU)
Thanks for the tutorial, I have a 2014 wrangler and the doors cannot be pulled out. Any idea why? the whole jeep is rocking back and forth but there is no way I can get the doors loose (nuts are out of course).
I just took mine off the door and placed them in the mount on the side of the jeep right by where the mirror normally is on the door. Look to see if you have those brackets if not just order some add them and you're good to go.
@3:08 pulling down DID NOT remove that harness for me! I feel like I'm going to break that thing if I pull any harder! There has to be something else to do?
No I understand why when I bought my jeep 2 weeks ago it had a dent right where the newly learned "jeep dent" happens. Well cool! Now I know the story behind it.
How does the stereo and dash lights etc. go off when the wiring harness to the door is unplugged? I have a 2008 and my battery drains every night, I have to manually turn my stereo off but I can't turn everything else off. Is there an aftermarket fix for this?
It's really tough to see anything in this video. Maybe choose a lighter interior for your tutorial so we have light? Also, the wire harness connector is not the same on our Jeep.
Everyone always says the power window switches are on the center stack because the doors come off, but you have to unplug an electrical harness on the door anyways. So jeep just put the switches in an awkward spot for shits and giggles? 2:33
Wait nvm I answered my own question. Its cause if you take the driver door off you now lose control of the windows for the doors you still have on, for example if you have kids in the back and want to leave their doors on.
I'm not 100 percent sure. but I think the non power doors still have a wire you have to unhook for the dome light to stay off. If that's the case it would be the same process.
Am I missing something? I spent 30 minutes prying at that electrical switch until my fingers bled, and still it wouldn’t disconnect. The clip is the same as in the video, and I pressed the button just like he did, but it still wouldn’t budge. Does anyone else have this problem?
idk if u still have this problem but i found that the clip button is on the side facing the door and it’s kinda like the one in the back of the hard top when you take it off
True, but there are several different designs of mirrors to either go on the upper hinge or on the two upper torx head bolts on the windshield pillar. You leave the bracket on, and use a thumb screw to remove the mirrors. Easy. Just hang them on the wall near where you are going to hang the doors when they are off.
Unturn your pin until it fall out on the ground (while camping , at an off roading site, near mud or parked on/near the grass).... then, put it in this safety space we have set up so you don't lose it.
So how do you see behind you if the mirror goes with the door? I don’t think they thought that one out. Not surprising since it’s Chrysler. I bet it’s a Jeep thing since I don’t understand.
Yeah it's cool seeing how much thought Ford put into Bronco doors compared to this. Jeep is just like "ha doors go off" Ford took everything into account from the mirrors to the fact you might not want them off until you get where you're going, then you'll need a place to store them
why am I watching this video when I don't even own a Jeep?
Same. Soon tho
So you know you can buy a Bronco. Easy door removal, and you can put it back in the car and you don’t lose your side view mirrors.
TheUltimateGemini no way a Ford. The Bronco is a Escape in disguise
Same technique works on a bathroom door.....
🤣
I wish I took my life as seriously as this dude takes jeep door removal.
Now that there is funny
Lol
It’s the corncob up the butt for me
This guy pissed me off
That's great 😂
This guys sounds like hes SICK and TIRED of explaining this.
Lol he made this so when people ask he can say "go watch the damn tutorial"
😂😂😂
He sounds like he's about 10 seconds from going postal.
JOSEPH DURAN hahahahahha
JOSEPH DURAN he needs to lay off the helium
thats what happens when you deal with dumbasses all day at a car dealership im guessing
Wish I knew about that jeep dimple warning before I took mine off. Now it is a badge of honor.
Ahha
Mine came with one... didn't know what had caused it until I took my doors off for the first time, and almost made it bigger.
@@Dosbomber my dad had a jk, when we took off the doors he got one of those memory foam pieces and stuffed it in between so if he forgot to hold it, it wouldn't leave a dent

That's why they make those stick on cowl covers, to cover the idiot dent. You just have to be careful. Lower all the windows first.

The "hex" is actually a T50 Torx.
This was one of the best tutorial videos I’ve ever seen. Good job. 👏🏻
you forgot to roll down the passenger window.. in case you accidentally bump those, it will shatter
Yep saw that too 😑
Yeah, but does the window roll all the way down in the back? The weakest point of tempered glass is its edge. It would be safer up if they don’t fully retract.
@notsoweisz1 it does go all the way down.
Was thinking that
What about the final step of reattaching side mirrors?
he slid them doors off like its easy
that thang heavy lol
So grateful for this tutorial. Thank you!

OK- Now how do we take the paint off?
Lol
Lol

Spray pb blaster on the hinges let it soak for 15 mins open an close the door an they come right off an the spray won't harm the paint.
How can you plug the door mirrors after taking off the front doors? Thank you in advance
Great detail!! Thank you! I can see why you are dealer of the year 🎉!!!
I will remember this video for the rest of my life because I don’t want to hear this guy say, “Gaddamnit did you watch the video?!”
"..move forward with gravity..." Science... you're doing it wrong.
Thank you for this video. It earned a new subscriber.
Say you were to buy a 2010 that came with that fancy storage organizer missing, where would one get a replacement?
"Litty, bitty short thang" lmao
Forgot to roll down window in rear?

I love the colour of this jeep!!

All Jeep Wranglers will have the wiring harness. It's not just for the power windows and locks. It turns off the radio when you open the doors and the dome light. I don't have power windows or power locks on my 2011 2dr (JK) or my 2016 4 dr (JKU)
I LOVE THIS COLOR!!!!

My Jeep JK harness that comes from the door only have 2 pins, and the one inside the car has about 8pins, I bought it like this, any ideas?
Great video. Thank you!
So glad I watched this.
Easy as can be. Now I know what to do.
"just like so" ... Really man...
Where can I get a replacement for the panel for the back doors ?
I was so excited removing the doors. Then I realized that it wont have the rear view mirrors 😂😂😂😂😂
They make mirrors for when the doors are off
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

I need help, this jeep has no power doors but there’s still wires running into the door. 2023 wrangler
Who else watched this and don’t own a Jeep?
Appreciate that video !
No I understand why when I bought my jeep 2 weeks ago it had a dent right where the newly learned "jeep dent" happens. Well cool! Now I know the story behind it.
So it dont go away
@CarismaGale-rx7rr Dents don't typically just go away on their own... lol
Good presentation
“So you reach underneath” proceeds to not show us where to reach
2:22 don't have the fancy accessories in my 2008 :)
Same
Same I got a 09
Great step-by-step. Lots of good info/trivia too! Thank you. One question occurs to me...why didn't you put the window down on the rear door?
Nate Collins he should’ve
Its because the back door dosnt have a mirror to dent the car. Pluss the front door is already gone so theres nothing to dent 🥰
I just brought a jeep. I started removing the hard top and door, let's just say I needed my husband and sons... 🤦
Well explained
How does the stereo and dash lights etc. go off when the wiring harness to the door is unplugged? I have a 2008 and my battery drains every night, I have to manually turn my stereo off but I can't turn everything else off. Is there an aftermarket fix for this?
the unhooked door wire harness sneds a signal to the ECU to let it know the doors are off
Super easy tutorial
What about mirrors with the doors off
Thank you❤
My Jeep came with 3 spliced wires with the crimped plugs next to the connector.
I like how he didn’t lower the window for the back door
Does this work on a Skoda superb? 😁
Just pull straight up. Straight up. Wait.... Like so... Wait. Ok, there we go.
It's really tough to see anything in this video. Maybe choose a lighter interior for your tutorial so we have light? Also, the wire harness connector is not the same on our Jeep.
Thank you👌
Only left is to buy me one awesome Wrangler😊

My 2015 didn't come with that kit
Thank you

You reach underneath, and you pop that out.
Thanks.
Where is the tool kit located?
Why would you want to take them off? It will just get dirty inside
Cool Jeep!
He says only if Do you have electric windows. What if you have to roll down windows is there a different process?
albert Zabala umm yeah well if you have electric windows you have electrical plugs to unplug.
I'm not 100 percent sure. but I think the non power doors still have a wire you have to unhook for the dome light to stay off. If that's the case it would be the same process.
My jeep has another door latch between the door and frame🤔

What about the mirrors?
so no side view mirror?
What about the dome light how does that stay off??
Remember when he unplugged the door? It shuts off all power to the door, so there is no signal for the light to read.
excellent blurry camera work
My door physically will not lift out its like stuck or something
Are you also supposed to roll down the rear window?
Art Greenberg yes
No side mirrors when the doors come off.
My 2014 has the kit 🥳
Thanks
Just like so
this is such a cool jeep
NOT REALLY, LOOKS VERY OBSOLETE AND PRIMITIVE.
Well do they give them to you or do you have to buy them
As with most things, YOU HAVE TO BUY THEM. Nothing is FREE
What about side rear view mirrors?
They stay on the doors. You have to purchase additional side mirrors for when you ride without doors
Hex? Or torx? Hmmmm....
Awesome!!!
What side mirrors are recommended to put on the jeep when the doors are off?
It's recommended you get a bronco and not worry about it
Kikbax... More expensive ($150/pair) but high quality, no vibration, great.
@@brianbaker2759 OORRRR... just get a bronco and don't worry about it 😉
@@Noadvantage246then you can have massive engine issues with your 2.3 or 2.7 v6 bc Ford ecoboost engines constantly blow gaskets
What do I do about mirrors? Aren't they required by law ?
Alexis Sigvardsen google Kikbax. best mirrors out there when the doors are off, IMO.
Smittybilt has them they look great
It’s easier if you roll the rear windows down as well lol
worth it

What audio system does it have?
Kevin Jennings I’m pretty sure the jeeps have an alpine stereo system
jacobhockey 51 the Alpine 9 speaker 550 watt stereo is available, not standard. I do highly recommend it though. Totally worth the money.
Question about wrangler sound systems, mine is 2016 but pretty shitty. Are they always like that and how do you recommend improving it?
