ARCH ballistic helmet stops .50AE

- ARCH gen 3 ballistic helmet is made by Protection Group Denmark and uses aramid fibers as the main ballistic material. The helmet is approved for NIJ 0106.01 level 3A and additionally to V50 ballistic test according to STANAG2920.
The manufacturer claims that this helmet reduces 9mm back face deformation by 50% (HPW-TP-0401.01B IIIA)
We sell these helmets but we never really understood what these fancy designations mean in practice... until we tested one. As you can see from the video, the performance of this ballistic helmet surpassed all our expectations.

"Maybe you die, maybe you become a Biden voter" 🤣🤣🤣
As an American watching a Slovenian say this! We love you!

It's rated 3A, but it can handle up to meme level threats like 50AE
"meme level threats" - i love it! I will use this description next time :D

Question is:How your head handle that impact:)
Great combination of comedy and technical information! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment :)
When Joker asks whether you know how he got those scars, the mouth hooks + .50 AE are the the answer.
uuugh now that is a horrifying image my brain just cooked up thanks for that
"Maybe you become a biden vot..) 🤣😂🤣 straight up dying over here
Yep, unexpected and hilarious. LOL.
@@vmpgsc it's sad when citizens in other countries know how pathetic our sitting president is
I love how they can laugh at our pain.
@@nottaexpert2690 someone has to laugh cause it sure as hell isn't funny to us.
@@disturbed66677 Everyone knows
Let's be honest here, there is slight difference between "it stops .50AE" and "it would protect the wearer from .50AE".
I was impressed that it ate a 7.62x25 round with apparently no problem, usually it's expected its higher velocity and smaller diameter would defeat 3A.
Isn’t IIIA is tested for 9mm traveling at 1400 FPS?
@@Ivan_I99999 Type IIIA armor that is new and unworn shall be tested with .357 SIG FMJ Flat Nose
(FN) bullets with a specified mass of 8.1 g (125 gr) and a velocity of 448 m/s ± 9.1 m/s (1470
ft/s ± 30 ft/s) and with .44 Magnum Semi Jacketed Hollow Point (SJHP) bullets with a specified mass of 15.6 g (240 gr) and a velocity of 436 m/s ± 9.1 m/s (1430 ft/s ± 30 ft/s).
really depends on the type of 7.62x25 used, there are light loads that make it slower and there hot loads that make it go fast pottentially increasing range and penetration. Can go from 1200ft/s (376m/s) to loads up to almost 1600ft/s (497m/s). I couldn't find which ammo type was used in PPSH during WW2 by the soviets but they had whole companies equipped only with PPSH SMGs for suppression, covering flanks, covering front, etc (battel order at 7:51 in th-cam.com/video/jSiTohahL7k/w-d-xo.html)
@@the7observer yeah the penetration power of 7.62x25 is kinda a meme at this point and rather overrated. I think only the czech steel core +P would actually have chance to penetrate IIIA. Standard 7.62 TT is definitely not more powerful than .357 SIG.
About PPSh Avtomatchiki units, I heard they did have separate ammo for TT pistols and PPSh-s, supposedly with steel core and more power for SMG, but what is actual energy and penetration of these is very hard to find.
All hats and helmets need a happiness bungee system like that. lol
Great to see you guys still adding in humour. Prima.
3:55 lol, well done my friends
I genuinely thought the smile was an edit. Fucking kudos.
Brother that last statement of fact about becoming a Biden voter just made me sspew coffee out my nose 😂 I love y'all's stuff
50ae, is definitely not a daily threat.
Wonder how it would hold up to TCM 22?
I like this, or maybe 17 HMR
Love the Morale Improvement System :)
THXs for another AMAZING & OUTSTANDING & AWESOME & SUPER FUNNY video!
Love the interior padding from the helmet, looks like a typical blue/white danish beanie...
Googly eyes on the manakin head were a nice touch 🤌🤜🤛
*Wanna know how I got this smile?*
Some people just want to watch the world burn.
I think the speed of collapse and its depth would be fatal 90+ % of the time for that .50. Still speaks well of the fiber and matrix.
Seems like it but reading about head trauma i have a different opinion. Human skull can withstand tremendeus pressures for very short period of time. This is why people can survive severe car crashes even breaking the front windshield with their head and flying out of the car.
It would be interesting to test this but im not quite sure how...
@@PolenarTacticali guess just use some voluntier 😂
You should test the UARM helmet next and compare the two.
I'm curious myself. I did purchase one as a backup ballistic helmet, but wonder how well it will actually hold up.
Ah yes the old "Kill them with a smile" bungees. Or kill'em while smiling?

Great video
Thanks
I appreciate the goofiness and lightheartedness too, like the big smile with the helmet 😂

Ooooh thats what the bungies are for?! 😂

G-Day Guy's, I hope this isn't a stupid question, but here it goes. What is the shelf life expectancy of a ballistic helmet that hasn't been shot or damaged ? Cheers for the review 🙃🙃🙃🦘🦘🦘
Not stupid at all. Shelf life depends on the material and storage conditions. What you usually see stated by the manufacturer 5-10 years is only their guarantee.
Most ballistic materials like kevlar and UHMWPE are super stable and resistant to oxidation and a lot of chenicals. Bonding agents can be more sensitive to temperature, UV, chemicals and outside force.
There were certain ballistic materials like spectra and goldflex that deteriorate with moisture and continuous use.
But for most ballistic material the shelf life in a dry space with no direct UV light is almost unlimited. There were tests done on 30 year old kevlar vests that still worked
@@PolenarTactical Cheers for the quick reply, and info.👍
We tested a 15-years-past "expiration date" level III vest panel and it still stopped 9mm military ball consistently.
Of course, it was from a reputable maker.
@@RCZM64 Aramid fibers like Kevlar are super resistant and do not expire by itself. But there was a new material similar to Spectra, i think it was Z-shield or something like that, that was quite sensitive to moisture and temperature degradation. It was produced by a reputable company but those ballistic vests degraded so much after years of use in police, that some officer died because it failed to stop the rounds.
So it depends on the material, aramid fibers and good UHMWPE should be stable and last for many decades
@@PolenarTactical sorry for the lack of context.
Of course good companies can put out bad products. I mentioned that because our issue vest (by goverment decree), that we shot at the same time, was not capable of doing that, even brand new. Even worse protection than some modern chinesium vests.
But THAT was not what he asked ;-)
Good stuff, thanks for testing & entertainment.
Got the PGD Arch now, with PGD Arch Helmet Cover M05
While at it, also got the PGD U-Line Chest/Back Plate, NIJ IV should stop your 50AE.
Only if I have enough strength to run away them equipped.
I bought a PGD helmet 5 years ago, along with their lvl4 plates for my carrier.

Please do a yugo m57 TT dedicated video with a lot of shooting and maybe some history!!!
Thanks for the sticker and the gummys!!!
Awesome 😎
i have a question what would happen if you use rifle gunpowder in a pistol cartridge? . have seen what happened to Scott from kentucky ballistics when a rifle round is loaded with fast burning pistol powder .
Nothing much, rifle powder is slower burning than pistol powder. It would still fire but not all of the powder would burn and the velocity of the bullet would be reduced
Fun fact, you can actually use certain rifle powder for .50 AE rounds for Desert Eagle but mine doesn't want to cycle it consistently. So i have to use faster burning magnum powder
@@PolenarTactical brilliant thanks for your reply :) and actually makes sense to me that it would not all burn :)
@@PolenarTactical I am from the uk so i have no idea about that my friend lol , but hey if it works it works right :)
Yet again proud to be from Denmark
@bLackstar ffs its still called protection group denmark anyway and has denmark in their logo. so i stand by my word and would call it a danish product. besides u wouldent call apple a chinese company just because their phones are assembled in china, its still american.

Now I need a full suit of plate armor in that!
Just for fashion reasons, i'd be shredded by rifle fire! lol
Nonsense, keep the small arms fire at least 700 meters away and you can tank as many rounds as you'd like
With a 50AE in the head you are more or less a stirred as fuck martini and not just shaken.......
KO
The joker ziga is terrifying
I would love it if you could feature mili-tech helmets in a video to compare.
That would be an interesting comparison
I heard that miltech and aholdtech are Chinese companies that makes good helmets with stable quality. But you have to choose the aramid versions! The disadvantage of militech helmets is that they are heavier than PGD.
@@michalpeskov1392 Yep, I have a mili-tech aramid helmet, it seems good quality but the suspension leaves something to be desired. Great value for the price though.
Thx for highlighting the most important part - moral boosting bungees. :)
But very nice video, great slowmo and results.
Thank you for sharing this. That is a great helmet.
comparing this to oxides test of the ops core and the ihps, this is much more impressive to me over those helms
Good one guys.👍
Ziga, do you ship to the U.S.? (Maybe that was a stupid question, but I’ve asked even more stupid questions in the past.) - Jason/Freedom Fighter Until Death/Vermont, DSA (‘DSA’, meaning “The Divided States Of America”)
Yes, we ship internationally. One third of our customers are from the US
@3'13 : This is a dessert Eagle, that's why we kept it for the end ;)
50AE is *guaranteed* by doctors to be one of those "take two apsirin and call me in the morning" rounds.
Gonna give you a fucking headache of note
A 50 caliber?! If you're hit, regardless, you're dead. The difference would merely be the difference between an open casket or a closed casket funeral. However, impressive helmet.
Totally not related, but do they make googly eyes that size? I kinda want to see a helmet test with one.
Mahalo 🐸🍺🔪🔥
I would of like to see you all shot the .50AE from the appendix carry using the battle gnome solutions IWE holster, that would of made a great inside joke. But I see that you did make a shout out so that’s close enough😏
For the next test i will use the IWB holster :D
Nice!
Try underwood extreme hunter 50ae round. Aria ballistics engineering has 400+ grain 50ae ammo now
Mhhh, Dessert Eagle 🤤
Yay! For no Raid Shadow whatever. 🤘
would love to see it go up against a 5.7 through pistol or SBR. Great video!
"Dessert Eagle" lol
Test it on a ballistic dummy. I want to see if that 50AE is actually survivable
Most probably it would be survivable. Human skull can resist very high pressures for short ammount of time, that how people can survive car crashes, breaking the fron windshield and flying out.
But with such trauma brain injury is always a risk
Love the jb voter joke.🤣 A range day in the states would be fun with yall.
there are some aramid insoles (either separate or used in the construction) for boots. Here in Brazil one of the companies that make boots also sells aramid insoles which some brazilians tested with 38 special and stopped the round (th-cam.com/video/apS03LnoLK8/w-d-xo.html)
So.... how about you guys make a DIY bulletproof vest out of aramid insoles? :P
I've been waiting for bulletproof socks and boxers for a long time myself.
Dude I may not even have to add a crotch protector to my flak if they start making underwear out of it
@@gustavoalmanza2673

No 45acp? All the fudds will say it will crack that helmet in half if you don't prove them wrong!
We're not allowed to use .45 at the range, it's too powerful

What is your opinion on modern steel helmets?
Do those exist? I only know about the German titanium composite helmets
@@PolenarTactical Sure thing. For example the NovaSteel helmet.

Should have shot it again with a PPS43C. Would have loved to see what those Tok rounds would do with some more muzzle velocity.
Does someone know if the Ops Core ACH ARC rails fit on this helmet ?
Because the rail looks cheap on how it explodes at 02:24
Its compatible ?
So funny you're videos 👌. God bless you and the great White European race 👌🙏😇
🤣"Helmet stops .50AE...wearer deceased from broken neck...crushed skull...." 😂😖
Broken neck, you slept through physics in school?
@@PolenarTactical And I did take college physics...twice...
For the 762x25, what brand did you use. I'm interested in if it's a steel cored variant as those are the ones that pen 3a armor
Probably 85gr fmj lead core from S&B, as they sponsor the channel
Can anyone tell me what the little cable like things on the front of the helmet are for? I have seen them in several models of modern tactical helmets but I can't discern what they are for...
Those hooks are for securing helmet mounted NVGs
Now I know what to buy
3:57 A foam head is more elastic than a real head, which gave the helmet more space to flex. On a real person's head it likely would've penetrated due to the reduced flexibility. I think comparing with a head made of wood or some other dense material would be interesting to see as well and how it compares to the foam one. I believe it was your channel which also demonstrated a Chinese impact-resistant (non-ballistic) face visor capable of defeating birdshot and you also surmised something similar that it was due to the flexibility of the visor. Same idea
Your head is intact but it is in another room.
helmet weight was 1.45kg compared to OPS CORE's RF1 are 1.58kg(stop 7.62x39mm) , there are actually lighter than OPS one, but i wanna see the rifle round test on ARCH G3 to contradistinction who is the BOSS in the helmet (better weight better ballistic performent) but 426 eur price are actually beating the OPS CORE
The weight of ARCH helmet is 1.35kg
Hmm, i don't think it would stop a 7.62x39mm round despite .50 AE has more energy. The velocity and pointy bullet is better at penetration
@@PolenarTactical got it , at end sum up i think its better than OPS CORE SF, the SF had a bad result of the deformation and its very expensive. 100% money saver🤣

1:36 Thx a lot!I love SB ammo it work really well.
Can you test next time 7.5 FK Brno or some different calibers?
3:48 Well your skull maybe be cracked after that impact or you have some brain damage.
& the only helmet you'll be wearing after getting hit wearing this one is the brightly colored ones usually seen on the 'special' kids driving around on little 3-wheeled scooters.
But hey, you'll be breathing, even though it will be with a constantly open mouth from now on...
Not necessarily, human skull can actually withstand super high pressures for a short period of time. This is how people can survive car crashes or even flying through the front windshield.
But potential for brain damage is always there with each traumatic injury to the head
so you'll be a Biden voter lol
You'd be very dead from the amount of energy transferred to your noggin. But on the plus side, the army can hand the helmet over to the next guy after putting a little patch on the .50 AE entry hole.
I will buy it
