Hello Matt I tie commercially also and this is a favorite in my home waters of the north east in different colors. I have found that I prefer deer hair over elk hair, because the elk is more brittle. However, you gave us all a great tutorial, I found many fantastic little time savers to boost my quantity per hour. Ty Mercier Otter Creek Flies
with this tying way yes u do...but if u attached your hackle at the rear then yes you do but the rib will make you hackle and dubbling stay in place and make them a lot stronger
I heard that Trout are specific within a week or a mile, meaning what works one week might not the next, and what works at one lake might not work a mile away. I tell myself this on tough day :P
Like he said, different colors belong in your box. I have some with black some with brown, some with tanish and some with grayish hackle and an assortment of colors for dubbed bodies. Its funny how a trout wont take one with a brown body but an olive one they slam..
That is one fancy hook vice! Do we really need a sexy vice like that in order to catch more fish? Great classic fly here. Fish go crazy for this buggy looking offering. (This fly works no matter how fuckin' expensive your vice is)
Very nice video Chris, thanks for sharing!
Loved the demonstration, thanks.
