  • Latin Bass master Oscar Stagnaro came to the Aguilar Artist Loft on December 7, 2015 and gave an incredible clinic demonstrating various Latin feels and grooves. Oscar’s knowledge of so many aspects of Latin music including the Jazz and Folk idioms is nothing short of inspiring.
Oscar’s group for this clinic included: Paulo Stagnaro (percussion), Eric Doob (drums) and Matt Stevens (guitar).
The clinic was co-sponsored by Aguilar Amplification and DR Strings.

The Latin Bass Book, written by maestro Stagnaro is a must for anybody serious about learning Latin rhythms. Giant among giants.

That drummer may not be the focus, but I think he's PERfect. Groove city _and_ inventive; but without monopolizing the soundscape. (Oh, and I'm a bass player - I should be taking him for granted. :^)

Paulo and Eric came to my school a while back with Paquito D'Rivera. I still haven't heard a drummer with that much presence at such a low volume. They're some cold cats.

I listened to 20+ minutes of this video, waiting for the Latin or Peruvian music to start, just like Oscar said. All I hear is jazz.

With all respect, I think when you present a song or rythm, first should be in a original version, then you can demonstrate your own, the case of Cravo e Canela. Otherwise you don´t undestand the point.
