Orienting the plane of the wings vertically allows the bird to accelerate faster to the water surface by reducing air resistance, without having to fold the wings in. Wonderful video, Mark! (As usual!)

Note how, even though the body turns 180°, the head is keeping the same position in order not to lose the objective... which means eyes right on target! I am amazed how God created such a wonderful bird with such amazing features. Superb!!! Thanks to the camera man for this extraordinary opportunity!

@@Koji-888 Yes, they go for largemouth bass that they poach from Osprey!🤣 Don't get me wrong, Eagles are amazing Raptors (vocalizations not withstanding)😊. I wonder how it would feel to be able to become one of these magnificent birds for a few hours and have that mastery over flight? There just aren’t words to describe watching these birds master the act of flying.
Notice how the eagle’s head stays constantly focused and tracking the fish. This is a true apex predator.
