I'm Italian: when the album BIG RED LETTER DAY was released, I bought it immediately ... then I was struck by GENTLEMEN from AFGHAN WHIGS .... I GRANT LEE BUFFALO not even talking about it .... I saw them live in Italy, in 1995. Then, the first time I visited the USA, I arrived in BOSTON, where I saw Grant lee Phillips live ...... I can only conclude by saying that I love the PIXIES madly, and I have closed the circle !! ! 😬✌️ .... Greetings from Italy ✌️
The greatest band that never got respect…but that what makes them great…I was lucky enough to see them live in Kansas…and I still follow them to this day
buffalo tom has been my inspiration for a long time. i was in my early 20's when i first heard of 'em and i've been a fan eversince. they became part of my life and its a privilege to be there when they were hit commercially. personally, all there album are special to me. they're all source of motivation. bless this band and i hope the younger generation will find their music as precious and powerful like i did.
Got my feet under me listening to Buffalo Tom on 101.7 WFNX in Boston. The years were 1989 - 1996. The music was soul substantiating perhaps even life-essential for that time.
I love the fact that the host said, "almost depressing". Because the '90s were a time where depressing bands really took off. I always looked at Buffalo Tom more as storytellers. Whether it was fiction or not was irrelevant. Some of their most brilliant stuff bordered on depressing. Great band, even if you disagree:)
I know exactly what you're talking about. The line "Watch an eyeball, take a freefall, at the mention of a name" stuck with me for life. Even though I was 14-ish when I heard it, I somehow knew the deeper meaning. That was the magic these guys brought to their music 💚
I've just realised after 30 years that the line in 'Taillights Fade' isn't "can't be deep, no, Jesus Christ can't help my fate". I've just looked up Cappy Dick and it's opened up a new world to me that I missed back then.
Watching this after hearing them on 6Music today and thinking they were a new band, was loving the 90s sound. Oh dear! If only I was born around 5 years earlier.
So good to hear this. Came to ‘Let Me Come Over’ a bit late, and ‘Taillights Fade’ became a massive group anthem. Still has the power to give me a good slap round the face when I need a wake-up call. Wish you could gig in the UK, fellas, but will make do with the new release in the meantime.
Thanks so much for the link and to everyone involved. It says so much about Buffalo Tom that they could play 5 great songs here and I sit here wishing for about 50 more that are just as good if not better.
Such an incredible first song about mortality from a rock band that will play until they're no more. "Now my time behind is greater than my time ahead , save up minutes like flowers before they're all dead...I'll be gone, we'll all be gone."
Buffalo Tom is Timeless... tried to see them every time they hit the Detroit area....One of the Best sounding live bands...really tight on stage...always supremely mixed. During the competitive yrs.....they had a leg up. By the name of Joseph Donald Mascis Jr
Been a fan since I heard “Summer” off of “Sleepy Eyed”... Found out they are so much more than just “Summer” Bill Janovitz has become a great “Ballad” singer With songs like Wiser, Register Side, Taillights Fade,I’m Aloud,Sunday Night,Sparklers,Paper Knife,
It can mean anything and everything you want. I think it's about dating a young girl, but nothing worked out. One of my favorite songs. Lyrics are exactly what you want it to mean, depending on your memory of your gf.
I really like the early Buffalo Tom albums, but as they went on they seemed to run out of ideas and just write less memorable versions of their previous material. I can’t recall a single song from their albums after Sleepy Eyed.
Thanks! Bands like Sugar Buffalo Tom Afghan Whigs and Grant Lee Buffalo wrote my life in the 90's. They never die.
And Gin Blossons, Stone Roses an Chico Science too.
I always got Buffalo Tom and Grant Lee Buffalo's names super mixed up.
Absolutely right, for me (in the UK) it was Grant Lee Buffalo, Buffalo Tom, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley.... the soundtrack to my College days!

Agreed! Plus Bill's badge looks great, it kinda took me back to the Stones :)

Such a great band..Soundtrack of my youth (Belgium)
I saw these guys touring in 95 incredible live they were so loud & such down to earth dudes with a criminally underrated discography

One of the best bands of the nineties. Saw them live 3 or 4 times back in those days.
They are still doin it !
Awesome! Bill´s voice is something! This band is amazing! Thanks KEXP!
I don't know if is wrong to compare his voice to bruce springteen early years. The definition of hard alternative rock that pull and slam technique
00:00 All Be Gone
06:24 Taillights Fade
13:14 Kitchen Door
21:15 I'm Allowed
27:34 The Least That We Can Do
One of the best bands ever, I love the look of that beat up sg guitar
Well done Bill, for the high harmonies on Kitchen Door (and bravo, Chris) and for speaking out against gun violence.

Such a great band. Really cool that they are still releasing great music. I really like the new record.
Heard of Buffalo Tom, while listening to a Marc Maron Podcast. He was a fan..... I gave it a listen I'm hooked!
Watching this after hearing them on 6Music today and thinking they were a new band, was loving the 90s sound. Oh dear! If only I was born around 5 years earlier.
I love this band so much. Their stuff makes me file like I was just plugged in and brought back to life.
Love this band so much. I remember my halls at Uni. Their music was my go to, in the quiet moments, just always full of joy!
Good boys Buffalo Tom from Italy Lombardia Thanks for Your music 🎶🎵 Art
Great show guys….loved taillights fade🙂
So tight. You can tell these guys have been playing together since childhood.
Superb session; always great music on this channel 👊🏻
Amazing capture sonically and visually. Let Me Come Over is a masterpiece to me as well!
Great band. Saw them live during the Let Me Come Over tour and they rocked. Loud!
There was time, I was young, and this was a sound. that moved me. Now it's an echo in the archive.

Chris Drake just saw on Spotify O2 Institute in Birmingham on December the 6th fella; might want to check that out 👍🏻
Huge thanks for the tip - there’s a London date on 5th Dec. That’ll do me! Cheers.
Chris Drake my pleasure mate; enjoy 🤘🏻
They're coming back to Europe!
Fall 2024. End of September in Dublin, Glasgow, and London, then on to Belgium, The Netherlands, and Germany in early October.
One of my favorite bands . They are always relevant and so unique at the same time. Thanks guys!!!
Let Me Come Over is Buffalo Tom for me, Saving Grace is my favorite off that record and fun to play drums to 😃
I love how chewed up Bill's SG is. Rock 'n roll!
so happy to be seeing this!
Suonare i vostri TRE, con questa *CLASSE "!!!... I Cori, la chitarra ( sembrano due),... Basso e batteria perfetti..... 👍

Bill Janovitz and Alan Sparhawk look more and more like each other with each passing year. Both legends.
Bought their first brecord in 1988 (megadisc) and have been a fan since then!
Sorry i´m as bit drunk :-)

Who in their right fucking mind would dislike this video, ffs!
The East-Coast Nirvana!
tava ouvindo buffalo tom quando a policia me prendeu por causa de um baseado em floripa no ano de 1999
I remember BIG RED LETTER DAY....
♥
Can you turn the guitar up? Can't hear it over the bass.
excuse me but now I have to go listen to "For all to see"
Came for the music, stayed for the jokes (and the music).
Anyone going to the Bristol gig!
I would love to know the story within the "im allowed" lyrics. ive spent almost 30 years trying to figure it out and still just have threads,

and what i mean by peace is...scramble some eggs heat up some mackerel and DIG THE TOMS
They invented grunge before that word even existed. Boston Rawks!
They didn't play "Stymied" :(
I didn't know Adam Henson could play guitar and sing, as well as run a farm and present television programmes.
Attention !!! Qualité seulement sur kexp!

Sound better with age....
Bullet LaVolta
I didn't know Tim Allen could sing
he sings his ass off.
I was thinking Mike Rowe.
thumbnail pic looks like Chris Martin in 10 years
At just the right angle the lead singer looks like Tim Allen.
Had to laugh...just now getting into them recently-thanks to KEXP and their song Larry. Wow!
they remind me of a 50year old bruce springstein cover band
except better
It was the least that we can do 27:40
