That's exactly what my husband did, joined the Navy to see the world. He aced his class at boot camp and is able to choose where he wanted stationed. He'd been to several countries while in the Navy and settled down when we got married. Thank you for your service sir and I hope you enjoy your stay in the Philippines.

This was really interesting. I found it fascinating. When you both talk about Oregon and the rain forest, sounds awesome, I have a property in New Mexico, home in Florida and live in Bogota, Colombia half the year. Giving up a cabin reminds me of me giving up my camper and staying in Colombia full-time, thats a tough call. I think a calmer, less costly lifestyle in Colombia pulls me in that direction but the camper/camping, going places desire cant be easily resolved as camping is really not a thing in Colombia at least not like in the states. I wonder do people camper van in Colombia. I see in Argentina and Chile it is more common. Id really miss camping. Amazing service, thank you Sir for your service in the navy. You have had and are having an amazing life in the Phillipines! Congrats 🎉
There is limited crime and drugs largely because the Philippines had a tough on crime and drugs president in Duterte. The US has problems with drugs and crime because we are electing leaders who are weak in dealing with this.
Same in Australia 🇦🇺

Been there, done that. I served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk CV-63 from 1980 t0 1984. The Navy is not good for a family life.

Did ten years as Sk in DDs. The service is not for everyone.
Fellow navy veteran good for you friend to relocate where you could live your retirement in paradise. I wish to do it as well someday move to that country after I fulfill my wish to travel within the US before embarking on a Philippine retirement. Carry-on sailor and enjoy your stay.

Does he have Tricare? It is the health insurance program for military retirees and their dependents. He can submit online his medical claims gor 75% reimbursement. Medical City Clark in Angtles City and Iloilo both bull Tricsre directly 75% for inpatient and outpatient costs

I believe that if your are on disability (ssdi) then you do not collect ss when you reach 62 but rather the ssdi payment becomes your ss payment.
a lot of guys that are bald with gray goatees lately. LOL
